You've got to be kidding. I've been waiting for a decent sale and we gave up a few weeks ago and just got it when it had $20 off. Does Harvey Norman do a post-purchase price match at all? I don't even know if that's a thing stores do.

    • A few credit cards do, check yours to see if that's an option.
      Harvey does not.

    • Wouldn't hurt to ask them

    • +5

buy it again and return it with the old receipt?

  • +4

Just to note that the historical prices are for the SpotClean Auto (which includes 3 attachments vs the 1 that comes with the listed version).

    • +4

Yup, i tried to price match at Jbhifi and they wouldnt because they say the harvey norman one is a 'specific to them' model with less attachments.

    • How useful are the attachments?

      • +2

If you are planning on cleaning your car with this, I recommend waiting for a deal on the SpotClean Auto (as you get an upholstery brush and crevice tool)

      • +2

I have the pro version, 90% of the time i use the one attachment which is the carper/upholstery one (not the wide one).

  • +1

Would this clean the whole lounge at all efficiently? or is it really only just for spot cleaning - Obviously I get that its called SpotClean - but just wondering if thats all its capable of.

    • +8

Not efficiently at all - it could do it but would take HOURS, be super-annoying and you'd probably get some marks or uneven cleaning from uneven coverage of cleaner and varying pressure/time (as you get more pissed off doing it). These things are good for spilled drinks or mud/shit walked on carpet, piss/shit/vomit from animals, makeup on the carpet - that kind of thing. Not for cleaning a whole couch, or whole rug, or whole carpet - that's madness.

      • +1

lol so its a piss/shit cleaner - Gotcha

I shall keep looking since my house isnt filled with that much piss and shit haha

        • +1

Have one of these, the better half uses it to clean our white couch fairly frequently as we have indoor pets and I always forget to take my boots off. She's never complained about it - but I'm not sure how long it takes her.

EDIT: I'm not sure what size head it has - but the body looks the same.

  • +1

Once you own this, you wont know how you lived without one.

    • Would you reocmmend waiting for the caar with 3 attachment version though?

      • +1

I never use the additional attachments however if you can I would recommend waiting for the other versions when they are on sale (they are usually not much more when discounted if not the same price).

The Turbo version is also a nice to have option if you can afford it, detail more often and can wait for it to be discounted as well.

      • +1

I bought a version with several attachments, never used the extras. If I had my time again I'd just buy the basic version.

  • +1

if you have indoor pets, these are great for getting pet smell out of the mat/rug/couch

Hehe, got the price beat for Auto model. the staff is nice today at JB hifi

Good guys commercial has Bissell SpotClean Carpet Cleaner for $186 for those with access. Includes 3 inch Tough Stain Brush and 6 inch Tool.

    • Not all heroes wear capes…

    • Thanks bought the Gg commercial version instssd

    • JB commercial has purple spotclean for $204 and spotclean Turbo for $306

  • Is this ok to use in cold weather to clean the car or should it only be in summer?

Also what’s the benefits over the wet vacs available at car washes?

    • Obvious one is you can use it at home on the carpet too.

  • Bought one a while back. Not able to get dog vomit stains out of the carpet.

    • +2

Vinegar and dishwashing liquid, then use club soda. Gets most stuff out. Vinegar dries with no smell.

      • interesting. thanks. It's a pink coloured vomit for some reason, which makes it even harder to shift.

        • +1

I had kids vomit lasagna all over the floor when sick, and another time dog shit on the carpet which one kid stood on. Got it all out. Baby wipes first, pulls up a lot of stuff, then the dishwashing liquid and vinegar (cold water), then club soda on a second pass.

Just use a white towel and work it in sections, dabbing / rolling it, so you dont spread the mess.

Also you can get enzyme cleaner from the pet shop, its crazy expensive, $50 for a spray n wipe size bottle, spray, let sit, then work it out as above. Works on bio spills - vomit, urine, poo.

          • +1

@MAB: Thank you. The vomit is about a week old now so hopefully can still come out. It's a rental property.
Mutt had kennel cough and was puking all over the place.
Agree on baby wipes. They are a Godsend for cleaning in general.

  • Does anyone have a wet and dry vacuum from Bunnings and knows how they compare to this one for couch / car / spot cleaning?

    • Note those wet and dry vacuums don't have the soap nozzle in front of them like carpet cleaners etc do

      • +3

just spend another 2 dollar to buy a spray bottle

      • +1

I believe what people do is put the carpet cleaner / soap mix on and then vacuum it off, but not sure how effective that is.

    • It is better to use a spray bottle, brush and cheap wet vac but the Bissell is more convenient.

I have tried both and prefer the better performance of bottle + wet vac over the Bissell.

  • anyone know how this would go an a long shag style rug?

    • +1

It wont. simple budget spot only cleaner…maybe at best do ok job on car seats.

  • +5

Come on super cheap put the auto one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/692185

  • +1

I noticed this one has only 1 year warranty, whereas the pro ones is 3 years of warranty. If their prices after discounted, is not so much different, I guess better wait for the ones with more attachments and longer warranty? But one thing, unsure how often and when the pro one will have discount

  • ….other vendor products will work and ear protection.

    ear protection?

    • I hope the OP didn’t have a stroke midway of writing because that made zero sense

  • Bissel makes the same device in a bunch of different colours targeting different markets (pet, auto, etc.). I have one of the other colours of these… handy little unit but the water sprayer stopped spraying so now I just fill the tank and pour the water on the carpet.

  • +1

a $60 ozito wet&dry vacuum would be probably 5 times more powerful than this little toy

    • Agree, grab a spray bottle and a stiff brush and you'll have better cleaning performance at less than half the price.

      • What solution do you put in the spray bottle?

        • +1

You can any product that says it's designed for water extraction carpet cleaners.

Do not use regular detergents, carpet cleaning solution is designed so if the carpet gets damp later it does not re-activate the cleaning chemical in the carpet and then start absorbing dirt back into the carpet.

I'm using a 5L bottle of commercial carpet cleaner gifted to me by a relative, it's a generic bottle so I can't make specific brand recommendations.

  • +2

I paid $347 for the Bissell SpotClean Turbo Professional which comes with 3 years warranty and extra accessories.

Opted for the more powerful variant as I had some tough stains that needed removing from the couches.

Couldn't believe how well the product works. The couch look even cleaner then when we had someone professionally steam clean them a while back.

If you have kids or pets it's definitely worth the purchase and $179 is a good price if the lower model preforms just as well.

  • +2

Had this for car mat cleaning but poor performance hence I sold it on gumtree.

Here’s how I clean car carpets now

works best if you do once section at time. Depending on the ambient temp - it takes 2-4hours to dry.

    Bonus - car smells fresh!

    Enjoy

    • Has this method removed stains?

      • yes - i have 3 young kids! carpets come up new every time

    • The key to mats (and interior fabric cleaning in general) is prep work; agitate with a thick brush beforehand (and vacuum if required) to bring the dirt and grime to the surface before using the shampoo solution and again agitate with a brush or the head of the spot clean prior to extraction.

  • Thanks got one using my voucher from the honey insurance posted here a year ago! Woohoo for ozbargain getting me free stuff!

I've had two of these machines (one slightly different) and both leak dirty water out from the bottom eventually after about 1-1.5 years of light use. Weird.

    • Why did you get two?

    • I've heard of this problem and it's why I've held off on getting one. Also the old hose was too small (fixed afaik on some new ones). I haven't heard a mention of the leaks for a long while, so maybe they've sorted it out in the new models?

Would be interested to know how people who've had it for 1-2 years are going as it seemed to happen within that timeframe.

      Amazing! Thanks

    • Perfect. Looks like the turbo would be the one I'll keep an eye out for. Would be interested in the hose length comparison between the turbo pro and regular turbo but otherwise it looks good.

Edit: actually the auto looks like it'll be fine. Huge difference in price between them.

is this one better or https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/bissell-spotclean-carpet-clea…
they are $189 at The good guys Commercial

  • Managed to price match with JB and use perks voucher

  • Would this clean water based paint off a curtain?
