Stumbled across a deal on the new Surface Pro 8 i5 that includes the keyboard.

As much as I love the surface form factor, the decision to not include the keyboard in the new range had made me reluctant to pull the trigger on a much needed upgrade from my old second gen pro.

This is a fairly rigid bundle offering, so it's probably not for everyone, but for folk like me for whom the Surface Pro range make perfect roadwarrior/travel companions, this was spot on.

The deal is - $1,449 for
* Surface Pro 8 - Platinum, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD - $1649 (current sale price at JB HIFI)
* Surface Pro Signature Keyboard - $219.95 (when bought separately from JB HIFI)

Edit: The deal page isn't quite clear on whether it includes the normal pro keyboard, or the fancier Signature model with the fingerprint reader, etc. It would be probably be safer to assume not when considering if this deal is for you.

Edit2: Thanks to @fireforce also available cheaper $1398 + delivery or pickup instore at Harvey Norman for those who are happy to give Gerry their cash.

    128GB SSD in a $1.5K machine.

    (I know it’s replaceable)

Yeah. Doubly so, given they ditched the SD card slot on this generation. I'll miss it and may resort to upgrading & partitioning the SSD to stand in for my current encrypted microSD.

I can only speak for myself, but having an offering at the $1.5k price point with all of the upgrades that the Pro 8 range introduced was still pretty attractive.

Not really concerned with the SSD size as I am with the 8GB of RAM and trying to run Win 11 on it.

I'm using a Surface Pro 6 256GB/8GB on Win 10, so was interested in this combo if it came with 16GB RAM.

  • Agreed. Though I guess this is how they make their money…offer the smallest hard drive they can get away with in the base model and charge you a ridiculous amount to upgrade to the next size up. Apple, Samsung, everyone does it…

I have a surface pro from a couple of years ago. I would buy a real laptop next time, with more USB ports, easier to upgrade, etc. The Surface PCs are good to watch movies on, or draw using the stylus, or let your kids do home learning on, but for regular 'work' I'd go with a Dell or HP with better specs

8gb of ram, why? Personally waiting for 12gen CPU and 16gb.

I am in the same boat, will wait for 12gen cpu & then skip it
