How good is this compared to Phillips Hue Akari downlight, apart from being half the price?

  • Do these have a AC plug for easy installation?
The Delta ones at bunnings do.

    • Yes, it comes with an AC plug attached with 0.5m lead cable.

  • does "2022 August New Batch, Flicker Free, Stable Zigbee Connection." Imply that there is an issue with older models? Because I have a bunch of these Nue Zigbee downlights and I frequently have to re-pair them

    • That is very unusual, please contact our support team at [email protected] we will help you to diagnose the drop-off issue.

    • Yes, I purchased these from them back in March, but due to issues with connectivity to the Hue hub (it would lose connectivity/drop off after ~1 min) so they gave me a refund. I know someone else who bought and them held on to them, and they eventually release an updated firmware to resolve the issues.

But now that these are out, I've put my order in for a couple. Fingers crossed they do the trick. If they arrive as quickly as they claim they should and I don't have any issues with them, I might purchase a few more!

  • I have a Sonoff Zigbee USB (Zigbee2MQTT) and running Home Assistant, anyone think I'll have any issues getting these setup? Only just starting out and wasn't able to find much on the googles.

    • I've bought nue 9w ones from Amazon and I also have Philips akari ones. The akari ones are more responsive. Nues from Amazon are hit and miss. Apparently the newer implementation fixes some things but also breaks others. I get the impression you're a little at the mercy of zigbee2mqtt support for devices which is why Philips being the leading brand will get more support to fix issues.

      • Hmmm, these are like 1/2 price of the Philips akari, might just give 1 a go!

  • OP, do these support transitions when running with a Hue Bridge and app? I've got some 3rd party lights that will accept control from the Hue setup but don't fade between states, they just instantenously switch on/off/change colour.

    • +1

Yes, it does support the smooth colour transitions just like Philips Hue Colour Bulb they do not jump in between colours.

      • Nice, thanks for confirming.

One more question, which is a bit weirder: in my current 3rd party lights, they tend to stay in RGB mode, even if the hue scene has all the philips lights in white CCT mode, so for the 3rd party ones I need to manually change the colour pallete from RGB to the CCT in the app, and then they switch to their white emitters.

Would be great to know how these ones operate in the same situation as most of the scenes I actually use day to day are CCT based.

Once a colour scene is active, this downlight does not need to be manually changed from RGB to CCT mode.

Its made for the Philips Hue bridge instead of developing its own app like the other 3rd party Zigbee lights, you will find this light behaves very much like Hue lights.

  • What is the difference between this and the 9W ZigBee you have, both appear to have the same Lumens?

  • Bought some, will update how it goes when it arrives.. using hue bridge v2
