  • one of the best AIB. only 30 more than 999

    • I know Gaming Z is apparently one of the best 6900 around, does this one still hold up with its XTX chip?

    • +8

The best AMD AIBs are Powercolor, Sapphire and XFX.
MSI don't even bother to to put dual ball bearing fans in their AMD cards and gave most of them their "graphene" backplates. To call them a top-tier AIB is nonsensical.

  • +7

They're getting desperate but still greedy, New card announcement is close.

    • +24

1029 for this card is not greedy prices at all. 3080Ti for 1499 is.

      • -2

Both are stupid prices at this point of the current GPU “generation”. Top-end cards are always overpriced, but at least you can enjoy the good feeling to be king of the hill for some time. Not now though. NVIDIA and AMD are releasing their new models soon. These are not only going to be much faster. But in AMD’s case hopefully finally provide more competent Raytracing.

        • +6

Price aint stupid. This card is way below RRP. Its stupid to buy tho at this point.

          • -1

@John Doh: Its still stupid to HODL and ended up not buying at all 10 years later.

            • @[Deactivated]: I recently upgraded from 970 to 6600xt and can say it was disappointing.

It's not like upgrading from a GTX 560 lol. The returns are shit. Going from 20fps gtx 560 to 80fps gtx 970 is far better than going from 80fps to 140fps. Same for bullshit video settings, it wasn't even a low to ultra upgrade on the same games. 6600xt only gets 80fps ultra 1440p n pubg (6 years old).

GTX 1060 and especially 1070 is all you need. Anything else is bullshit (including the 48' UW 1ft from face)

              • @Jimmy77: 6600xt is a shit card, 6900xt is not.

                • @[Deactivated]: 6900xt/3080 is still shit though and use more watts. Graphically video games are honestly 2 decades off real life (the concept of needing ultra and 200fps is lol). The U5 engine is also bullshit (those examples are not raster). All the 3080/6900xt provide me is 80% more fps of the same shit, ie 150fps in pubg instead of 80fps. No real difference. They can't even do 4k/RT high refresh, and even then those things are also bullshit. Again 800x600 to 1440p is bigger upgrade than 1440p to 4k. And as for raytracing an amateur couldn't tell the difference.

Like honestly PUBG is 6 years old and for 1440p I'd need to spend $800>to get 30% more fps. 120fps instead of 80fps woo!

Imagine if I paid $900 for this 6600xt. It was $350 (even said save $550! in the ad). I'm kind've irritated I paid $350 for it. GTX 970 to 6600xt wasn't worth it. Whereas I remember GTX 560 to GTX 970 was a massive upgrade.

                  • @Jimmy77:

Anyone who plays competitive first person shooters knows there is substantial difference.
I went from 60Hz to 165Hz the difference is day and night. I can't specifically say whether a 3080 or a 6900 is good or bad since I don't own either. My only concern would be whether it needed a stronger PSU to go with it as well, because then your outlay rises again.

      • People with $450 budget and wanting 6900XT is kinda stupid.

Like wanting to buy brand new Tesla with $20k budget.

        • -1

You make it sound like you have stockholm syndrome and your captors are amd/tesla shareholders

    HODL

    • HTGHODL

      • Admiral HOLDO

    • Make the green team bleed buy red

  • +5

    We'll talk around $800.

    • +2

About how we should then wait til it's under $700?

  • +1

best I can do is 450 - take it or leave it

    • +1

ive seen the heatsink sell for about that on aliexpress

    • What are you rich?!?

    • sorry all sold out. come back in 2025

    • you can have my GTX 670 for that price.

    • It looks like for you it will be a second hand mining rig card, a Gigabyte model, after the 7900 XT drops.

  • +5

Just FYI this needs 3x 8pin connectors compared to some other 6900xt which is 2 only

    • +1

      Do you know why?

      • -1

        Bigger cooler probably

        • +1

          Wut

      • +4

        Higher power limit.

      • Needing to use 3 pins increases the size of your epeen.

      • I think it gives safer room for overclocking and maybe more stability in general, but aren't 100% sure.

  • "Warranty Period 1 Year Warranty" on their website.

  • +4

Rumours are the new AMD chips are gonna be epic. These will be $500 on the used market in 6 months time.
    HODL

    • +6

      I got 500 for my 2080 1 mo ago.
I'll wager you're off by price or time

    • People used to say that 2 years ago, but here we are

    • Rumours for GPUs and cpus are usually written by dumdum websites who use ai to spam bullshit articles for numpties to believe.

    • How did you get it down to $1079?

      • Not sure if it's ebay plus only but you should see a code to get $120 off.

        • For me it says "Take AU $59.95 off this item when you join Ebay Plus", is there a code that's only mentioned after joining?

          • +2

@eepykate: I have eBay Plus, and for me it was a Spend & Save up to $120. SNSMID was the beginning of the code.

            • +1

@johnno1987: I've got the same (and have eBay Plus), so must be targeted

        • +1

I've got eBay plus. Don't see the code for $120 off. Max discount $59.95.

    • -6

No RT and DLSS. No deal.

  • +1

Still insanely overpriced, given the current market situation. Vendors are sitting on old stock, crypto is way down and a global recession is looming large.

I can see how people buy discounted mid-tier cards for some “good enough” 1080p gaming. The 6900XT sits in a weird spot though. Priced as a top-end card, it will soon be relegated to 7700XT level performance. Not worth $1000.

    • Its below rrp.
That said, the RRP was garbage.

      • +1

The 7700xt will be 900-1000 on release based on the stupid pricing of the 6750xt but I guess the 7700xt will use less power and have better ray tracing than the 6900xt

        • +4

most people won't be able to get their hands on a 7700xt tho. just like when the 3xxx series came out most people had to wait a year.

          • +1

@retaxis: yep and don't they usually release the bottom end stuff last so it could be a year even with normal production cycles

      • +2

I think you're on the wrong forum, wtf are you rambling about

        • -5

he was rambling about crypto and global recession. also wrong forum.

they got nothing to do with GPU.

  • what the difference between the gigabyte 6900 xt and this one?

    • MSI > Gigabyte

    • -1

Ummm everything. It's not even the same chip (XTXH is faster). Pls go do some google.

  • Card now appears to be out of stock.

    • Probably the worst time to buy them too. Why spend 1k on old gpu's? The people who spent 1.8k had them 20 months earlier.
