Groupon has $10.99 standard and $24.99 LUX tickets for all days except after 5pm Saturdays until 30 September also currently for those interested.

Make sure to add - Booking Fee: $1.50 for Standard General Admission Ticket and $3 LUX Ticket

if you go in person and redeem the ticket via the self serve machines, can we avoid the booking fee?

        • +3

Yes that avoids the $1.5 or $3 booking fee, tried it last Sunday

          • @regenade: Because you book seats, as well as tickets, you can see how full the Cinemas are to see if prebooking is needed, or not.

If you are willing to wait for initial rush to be over you can generally get a decent seat without prebooking. A week is usually enough.

        • yes says in T and Cs so for sure will work

        • +1

Yes, which is so weird because apparently it's more expensive to Hoyts if you book online but cheaper if you do it in person

      • thanks added

      • +1

These sorts of fees should be illegal.

        • Why dont you complain to ACCC and Fair Trading. As long as there is a way to book fee free (which is in person), they are not going to do anything. In person bookings are also done at a kiosk with no people involved these days. You just see how hoyts have enabled the kiosks to be fee free, I am pretty sure it will just be a parameter in the URL !!

    • Have you used it, would you happen to know what the upgrade fee is for xtremescreen?

      • +2

b.Xtremescreen -surcharges vary from $2 to $4 depending on session attended.

    • Thanks so much!

    • Have you used the voucher? I don't know where to enter the voucher number and pin online.

  • +1

is student edge free? is there any other deals with it?

    • +2

Most worthy and underrated deal is free small coffee over $4 at Maccas (milk options are free too). Considering this is normally $4+ itself you now get a snack + coffee for $4 or 2 for 1 coffees.

There's a lot of other deals too but idk what's worth mentioning as I don't know the normal prices of some things.

        thanks, I will have a look :)

    Student Edge

Students go to the movies? I would have thought only people over 40 would still being going to cinemas in 2022.

Toyota app has Hoyts tickets at $13.50 also.

  • It was actually posted here, not sure why it was marked as expired though https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/688192

  • There are also senior tickets for those who are eligible. These are $9.

  • How to get a $25 LUX ticket as mentioned by OP in the title ?

    • Log in to the student edge accounts and take the link to Hoyts. Book via Hoyts website - upon checking it is $32 and $3 booking fees

  • Student Edge T&Cs
    4. Eligibility
By using the Site, you represent and warrant that
    (c) you are a full-time or part-time student in high-school, TAFE, College, a University undergraduate or postgraduate, or an international student visiting, and studying in Australia

Not sure how they police this. I guess the worst that could happen is they close your account if they discover that you're not eligible.

  • If you have an RACV membership you can get $10 midweek hoyts movie tickets evouchers which last 12 months available till the end of Aug. I bought 2 tickets and only had a surcharge of 30c

    • Possible to buy it?

  • I presume this doesn't stack with Hoyts Rewards (VIP tier will receive 25% off the price of their movie tickets) as this is considered as already discounted tickets, 3rd party movie ticket offers or promotional movie tickets.

  • Anyone used and been requested for student id or denied entry?

After placing the order, what is given? A barcode to be scanned? Any reference to being a student?

    • +1

I used it before and never was asked any questions. They just scanned my barcode before entering.

  • How does one get a cinema-in code ? Can't for the life of me find it .

    • +1

@marc171 the in-cinema code is located on the 'Session Times' screen at the box office. Top left-hand corner.
