The 75 is $1199 for me.

    • sorry i make typo on that model

  • +1

The 75 inch is showing $1199 for me

  • +4

Think the 75 for 800 is the only real deal here.

Edit: And it's showing 1200 for me.

  • Whats the upscaling engine/ ability on these?

Also, anyone with experience with any recent TVs with terrible upscaling?

    • +7

If you are demanding in the picture quality of your tv, like me and many others, you should consider spending more.

      • Not really demanding in picture (as I mostly watch free to air TV).

However, I bought one of the first 4K TVs in 2013 for $600. Plays Bluray brilliantly, but free to air and DVDs look terrible.

      • With the next closest TV being double in price, this will do for the next few years.

  • -1

Can it be used as a PC screen? What about for PS4?

    • +20

Yes. A PS4 can be used on a TV.

    • +4

Yes, it also comes with remote control

    • +4

Not good as a PC monitor. Doesn't support chroma 444 so bad text.

      • I gather you tested this? Damn :( most Android TVs have a "PC Mode" burried in settings which enables Chroma 444… but yeah. Was looking at a 43".

    • Yes, it can be used as PC screen, but since it is a budget tv, display quality is not good. You have to fiddle around with image settings to adjust the best possible image.

    • Can but text will be blurry (as PC monitor).

  • +3
    • I agree. It's worth what you pay for. For the 55" model at $499, it's reasonable. It can be used as the second TV. I guess they're clearing out the floor for new stocks ahead of Christmas.

      • I think it's got low input lag and okay blur

So honestly not bad for sports

Doesn't have good blacks or whites. But I'd rather have better motion.

      budget price.. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Same price for Big W's EKO branded TV's

So how is this a bargain?

    • +7

Toshiba is a stronger brand than EKO every day. Surely?

      • Yes , annoyingly too good, waiting for my Toshiba TV bought 12 years before to stop working.

      • +1

They're still both considered cheap, budget brands

      • +2

They used to be. IIRC Toshiba TV branding was sold off to one of the cheap Chinese firms, so this and the EKO are probably the same.

        • Toshiba was bought by Hisense.

      • -4

Was. They are generic trash now.

        • Clearly haven't seen the z770k series in action then.

        • How could you call trash on Hisense?

  • @OP, how did you get the $799 for 75", I might be interested

  • +3

Looks like they're Hisense TV's at heart, based on https://www.channelnews.com.au/exclusive-hisense-cuts-major-… - would be interesting to see their performance for the price (maybe it's like TCL and Ffalcon in how they shift old models downwards).

    • They do make them sound good, anyone got one? The ui good?

  • Made in China?

    • +5

      Isn't every other TV is?

    • +42

Nah bro. They're handcrafted in Japan by artisanal engineers and than sold for $499 to compete with Big W.

      • +2

and chipset is made from pure japanese beach sand and plastic from oil of whales

Looks like this might qualify for $60 store credit if you order online by Sunday & spend over $360 (mentioned on their homepage):
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/

    • I suppose you can only use the store credit on your next purchase not on the this current purchase?

      • Yes, you won't receive it straight away.

  • What's a good non smart/android TV?

    • They don't really exist unfortunately

    • Any TV and ignore the smart functions?

  • Can’t find stock for 50 55”

Some info for anyone considering, I picked up the 50 inch from GG 2 months ago for $649, and it's now $449. It was with 12% cashback from Cashrewards ($70), which they still show as pending, and with an $80 in store credit, but I'd rather straight up get $200 off the initial price. So this new price seems like quite the bargain.

I use it as a dedicated gaming TV used for Xbox Series X in 4k, and it runs F122 perfectly fine. I notice no issues with any lag, or problems with it.

    • +4

Everytime I went over $2 claim Cash rewards had problems crediting it. I had to pursue every of those claims, they always play dumb, until I stopped using them totally. 6 months to credit $10 with CW figure that. Same with Dell. Same with Australia Post. You have to push them

      • Agreed. They actually rejected the claim initially so I had to query it. It now says 3 months until it gets approved. They seem to do that in the hope people forget about it, as this isn't the first time. If it wasn't such a high amount I might of ignored it, but for $70 I'll be pursuing them.

    • Does this TV support PC mode properly with full 444 chroma subsampling? I'm not sure how easy it is for you to check but there is a guide here: https://www.geeks3d.com/20141203/how-to-quickly-check-the-ch…

      • No idea, it's not connected to a PC, so it's not easy to check.

  • Exactly like cheap laptops some pretend to have the best features and performances on a $500 tv.

  • Kinda doesn't really exist anywhere in Melb or geelong.

  • bottom of the barrel tv.
sure you can talk yourself into it, but spend a bit more

  • Bought the 65inch one about 3 months ago to use in the bedroom. Mainly to watch TV, streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime), sports (Kayo) and a bit of Youtube; it's been great for that.
Definitely not a Premium TV experience (our main TV is a Panasonic OLED), but if you're looking for something on the budget, I can definitely recommend this TV.
Android TV has been holding up ok (2 crashes so far but restarted fairly quickly).
I probably wouldn't use it as a computer monitor or gaming panel, although I'm sure it would do great if you're just playing the odd game here and there.

    • What's the upscaling of free to air TV like?

Says REGZA engine for upscaling. So at least it has something (not sure if the BIG W Eckos TV do)?

Also, any ideas on energy consumption?

  • I'm looking for a 40ish inch TV to go in the den solely for the kids to play Nintendo switch on.

Do I go with the 43 inch one in this post or the 40 inch Hisense that GG have for $395 found here - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/hisense-40-inches-a4-series-f…

    Appreciate your thoughts

    • +2

Haven't used either TV so can't comment directly, and also don't use switch, but just to point out you are comparing a 1080p (Hisense) with a 4k (Toshiba) unit. The Toshiba also has an extra HDMI port. I honestly doubt the kids would notice the difference for Switch, but I'd be considering whether you may want to access 4k content now or in the future, and how many devices you need to connect.

  • Got the 65 for 664 by price matching ebay plus price.

  • No energy usage specs?? Toshiba website says <200w. … Well I'd hope so!

  • Is the OS Android 11?

    • My google account said allow Android 9 access to my account… I'm thinking it's 9?

      • I got a Big W EKO QLED 65" TV in 2020 and it had Android 9 so I guess TGG is trying to clear excess inventory stuck in China after Covid

  • got a 50’ yesterday. so far, really good and worth the price.

    • What version of Android is it?

    • Don't suppose you have a Powerpal etc and know how much energy it uses?

      • Found an answer - According to Energy ratings

        55" 339kwh per year ( 92 watts)

        65" 453 Kwh per year (125 watts

        For comaprison

        EKO - k650usgq 370Kwh (101 watts)
EKO -k65dvaq 725Kwh (197 watts) - This is the new Dolby Vision version - might use less when not running Dolby Vision content
        Hitachi 65QledSm20 - 370kwh
        Linsar 65UHDNF - 370Kwh

        TCL 65 P615 - 300Kwh - Less than the Toshiba 55

        • Take it with a grain of salt as each TV will probably have the backlight adjusted different. I suspect you could get these numbers to half that in the average room.
  • +1

is the 75" a good enough tv for occasional PS5 usage.
I just want a big size 4k tv, so I can clearly see how I would always die in Elden Ring.
will be replacing an old Sony Bravia 40" which is still very much alive and kicking.

  • So the Big W EKO TV's support Dolby Vision, whereas this is just HDR10.

But HDR 10 is the more common standard (modern day VHS).

Does the EKO still support HDR 10? or is it Dolby Vision only?

  • It now has a 10% coupon “HOME” if anyones still after for one
