Buy the Coles mastercard with card for 5% cashback :)

    • Would you know how long it takes for the Hiver cashback to hit your Hiver account after the transaction has settled?

      • +4

Within 5 business days of the start of the next month.

limit of 2,000 Points per account…
So only need to buy one card…

  • Hmmm. So I’ll just use one of my Coles MasterCards I purchased with my Hiver card from last time to buy the $100 Coles MasterCards in this week’s deal to in turn buy the Officeworks gift card.
    Coles inception lol!

Sounds like a great use /s

    • I think people enjoy buying gift cards..
Usually the $5 fee eats up half of that $10.

      • +1

I don’t think there is a fee for office works cards. Could be wrong.

        • +2

          You're correct.

The previous commenter is probably referring to the fact that the $100 Coles Mastercard gift card comes with a $5 purchase fee.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Yes that (which someone suggested buying the office works one with)

  • I thought they have banned using Coles prepaid MC to buy any gift cards at Coles?

    • -1

Yes they have but the check out system allows it, unlike woolies. If a staff member noticed then you have no right to continue the purchase as your breaking the trend and conditions of sale.

    • +3

Coles' official policy is that you cannot use Coles Mastercard gift cards as a payment method for any gift cards at Coles.

If staff notice you at a checkout trying to use a Coles Mastercard gift card as a payment for a gift card and they actually want to enforce this policy, they can stop you.

The bigger question is whether Coles have set up the POS system to actually automatically stop you from using Coles Mastercard gift cards as a payment method for gift cards at Coles. The POS system did not stop me last month from using a Coles Mastercard gift card as a payment method for a gift card, but there is always a chance that Coles changed their POS system within the last month to automatically stop you. I know that Coles have now set up their POS system to stop you from using the old Coles Gift Mastercards to pay for Coles Mastercard gift cards at Coles (and presumably other gift cards too), so there is a precedence.

      • +7

If they didn't modify their POS,
I think the best way is: Hiver 5%-> CPMCGC ~7.5% ->SB SS 2.5%-> Swap CeGC-> OW 2000 fb pts
but I am not going to tell anyone lol
please don't discuss my view further, I don't want them to close the road.

          Man 👨 you are something.

          • @io: I think TanedaR is a 👩 from 🗾.

        • What is CPMCGC? SB SS?

          • +2

@xldailybr8: CPMCGC = Coles Prepaid Mastercard gift card

SB SS = Shopback Super Swap gift card

        • But does it actually work like that?

I don’t think you can buy the OWGF with another eGC from SB.

          • @TheBarGainHunter69: The shopback ones are a different egift card and only seem to be able to buy groceries

            • @JIMB0: So you’re not able to purchase the Officeworks Giftcards with a Coles eGiftcard from Shopback?
Is someone able to confirm this?

              • +3

@TheBarGainHunter69: There are 2 types of gift cards for Coles on ShopBack: Coles Gift Card and Coles Groceries Gift Card

The one that usually works for me on purchase of another gift cards is the Coles Gift Card

                • +1

@BargainsGrabber: Which also means it is legit to do. Otherwise, Coles can exclude giftcards like the Groceries ones do.

  • Can I use Officeworks gift card as a method of payment to buy other gift cards in Officeworks (such as Apple or Google Play gift cards)?

    • Want to know this also.

      • Same here. This kind of offer has never really come up before so we are kinda entering uncharted waters

        • Hmm, it's like paying off a credit card with another credit card lol

    • No point unless they are discounted, which they frequently are at the supermarkets with points promotions.

      • +1

If it works you can just buy a group card with a store card. Doesn't seem to worth the effects though.

  • Wow, an Officeworks discount. Never thought I would see the day!

    • +1

they had the same offer a few months ago. I got one then….still waiting to use it lol. Mainly buy from JB and TGG, but got that card for a future purchase of a Logitech MX keys keyboard

Actually finding any of the $100 cards is extremely difficult, unless someone is very lucky.

I've been around 4 Coles Supermarkets without success. Lots of others have reported similar experiences.

  • Anyone bought the Officeworks GC and used it to buy another GC? Would like to know if it works.
