This is their official Nothing Phone website I think
    https://au.nothing.tech/pages/phone-1

    • +5

Yep would just buy directly. Pretty sure shipping included also.

    • +5

I’ll be negging this deal as well since:

      • you can get free shipping if you buy direct from Nothing website
      • YouTube reviews show that the LED lights on the charging area do not show the charging level when plugged in except for creating an overhyped product feature
      • 1200 nits advertised brightness, actual is 700…

  • +15

Pity that most of the reviews from big names are reporting a very average camera experience.

    Could be software.

But the golden rule for Android is "Buy it based on how it works NOW"

Also the cross-talk on both wired and wireless headphones should concern everyone

    https://youtu.be/Fqfcu329CI0

    • +2

Crosstalk on wireless headphones is insane how the shit?

  • +17

    Do not buy.

    • Yeah after reading all the reviews and complains, def not worth $700+ phone at all, save you cash and go with Xiaomi or Poco will be a lot better.

  • +4

Interesting, although I think with the discounts the 6a might be a better buy hmm

  • +21

Should be called "nothing special" instead of nothing one. Don't get the excitement about it

    • +3

Manufactured hype from the people who brought you one plus.

  • +2

Compared with some other brands at this price, Can anyone tell me what are the sales points?

  • +20

there was no official way to purchase it.
    Memory Card slot : No
    Headphone Jack : No
    Radio : No

    brand name checks out

    • +8

      The NoPhone

      • +2

        Grumpy Cat would be proud

    • +9

Phone targeted at enthusiasts and no SD card slot? And 256GB version at the most? What are they thinking?

      • +8

        What are they thinking?

        Nothing!!!!!

      • Couldn't agree more. I was looking for a new brand to go with (since Samsung is no longer an option for me anymore), and I thought the Nothing phone might be decent given how it was marketed. Then I find that they've also gone with the now mainstream way of making phones worse.

  • +1

    Quite literally the "Nothing Phone"

  • +2

Not really a deal… you can buy directly from their official website with free shipping.
And 8+256 /12+256 prices are cheaper on their official website…

a totally new phone & brand to the market with mid-range specs asking for a flagship phone price??

    lol just buy a samsung/apple/pixel/etc

    • +27

$750 is flagship phone price? Lol.

      • Well it was for me. Also you can get last year models and so on. But yeah if you wanna get the latest s22/iphone 13 it ain't gonna be $750. But if it's for a s21 certainly!

$750 is just greed as there is a very huge gap from mid-range phones to flagship phones. Yes the gap is smaller and smaller every year and some say their mid-range phones are just as good but there are so many other parts that make a great flagship that just isn't present in mid-range phones.

        Some include:
Camera quality* (Budget Pixel's are an exception)
Flagship/High performance Processor (New games such as Gensin/PubG really benefit from this)
        Sound quality
        Build quality
        Microphone quality
        And so on.

I'm more than confident that that this phone is a perfectly fine phone but that price tag is just a joke. You've gotta distinguish yourself from others and Nothing Phone certainly has not with their price-tag. Sure it has many unique features but is that enough?

For example, I daily a budget $100 phone from 5 years ago and I know what it can/can't do and its struggle's. I'd be more than happy if I move to a much better $~150 4-year old flagship. I think most people will be fine with a flagship a generation or told behind. Like in the past, s21 Ultra's were only going for under $700 which is leaps ahead of this phone.

        • +6

So far all your “flagship price” song and dance, you agree you can’t actually get a flagship from the majors for this price.

Last years model doesn’t count, since that’s obviously no longer their flagship device.

          • @Mitch889: true!

i need to look up the proper definition of a flagship. my bad.

            Maybe a past flagship*

          • -1

@Mitch889: Pixel 6 was $705 last month. S22 was $549 (trade in req. easily obtainable for ~$200).

I think it would be fair to say that you could probably pick up a flagship at $750*** only if you're willing to wait for a deal but if you in the market right now and need a phone immediately then yes you definitely can't.

i use past ozbargain deals as a good price indicator but yeah i should have made that comment more clear and said past flagships or flagships when on sale/special.

thx for pointing out my pretty unclear claim

    • Haha not anymore due to inflation. Mid range phones are 550-850 dollars now and budget are 200-450 dollars

      • +8

Inflation? It's nothing to do with inflation. $1k would be the highest phone price of it was inflation.

It was greed. Yet people paid it, so it stuck.

If only the price increase was due to honorable pay and working conditions I'd go with it.

Hey OP, you can buy it directly from the Nothing site. They officially sell it to Australia

  • +6

Have been searching for a way to buy the nothing phone 1 in Australia and there was no official way to purchase it.

Can't have searched too hard there…

    • +1

      Coz there’s ‘nothing’

  • +3

Moving on, nothing to see here

  • -1

    I don’t get nothing!

  • +4

    Basically Daikatana in phone form.

They massively hyped this thing as supposedly better then every Android phone on the market, then released a meh midrange phone.

  • Not quite impressive compared to the hype it had.
I'll wait for the Samsung S23

  • +1

Realme and Xiaomi are still better buys considering the avg reviews of this phone. Nothing special in this phone that justifies the higher price tag imo.
No offense to people who bought or have different opinions… It was just my opinion..

    • Hopefully xiaomi copy the leds on back.

  • +3

Buy direct for cheaper as shipping is included and can get 256 for $50 extra

  • Much ado about nothing. I noticed there was a lot of chatter about it on Whirlpool. What exactly is supposed to be the main point of difference?

  • It has a transperent back, that's kinda cool. Not sure it justifies the phone in general.

  • +3

Odds on the company being around to provide updates in a year or two?

  • +2

nothing has an au store though?

  • +1

It is definitely not a deal when it's even more expensive than the official website

  • yeh nah not a bargain

  • +1

wtf what were they sniffing or smoking when came up with this brandname

  • Nothing.

  • Got caught fudging the numbers on NITs.

  • +4

Not sure why you’d pick this phone, but doubly so from some random site when it’s essentially the same price from the source.

“Have been searching for a way to buy the nothing phone 1 in Australia and there was no official way to purchase it.”

Doesn’t seem like you looked very hard.

  • It's being pushed hard on tiktok that's why plthere is a bit of buzz about it.

But yup you guessed it nothing special about this phone.

  • +2

Nothing burger phone. I do want the leds on the back though. Hopefully xiaomi copy it sometime in the future.

  • +1

This came out over a year ago, its called the Poco F3.

    • Poco F3 had a better chipset and was half the price.

      • True, haha
