This is the cheapest you can get the lens (non grey) from what I can see. The lens itself looks like it’s really good too.

  That one is $1190 on eBay right now which is another great option and not much heavier, really just depends if you need to 35mm or 28mm is fine.

      Yeah plus it has a bulbous front element so can’t use front filters on it! I actually owned the 16-35GM before and that lens was phenomenal, very decent size/weight too.

What's the main difference between this and the GM apart from larger aperture?

  Pretty much the power zoom function, quite a bit smaller/lighter (GM is roughly 650g but this is 390g) and roughly $1000 cheaper.

      With the 85mm lenses I’d say there is a difference due to the rendering. The 85mm f/1.8 is fantastic when it comes to sharpness and AF but it’s rendering doesn’t have much character to it. The 85GM does much better in this regard but this can be very subjective. I personally love the Sigma 85mm DN Art as you can easily get that for close to $1000AUD on sale from eBay, it has beautiful rendering and is a good size and weight.
