    I'm also running the R7000 on Asuswrt Merlin Xwrt. Would this be a big jump up? Current issues I am facing is instability on 2.4GHz Wifi when multiple instances of the same type of app are running on mobile phones on the network. It just causes the 2.4 GHz to lock up and shut down.

    Curious as to why you were desperate to upgrade the R7000? I have had one since circa 2015 and it has been great but recently had been hanging, ended up flashing it with DD-WRT and it's been fine since.
