What is the point of this motherboard over the tomahawk (apart from one more short m.2 slot)?
They removed the chipset fan
I have the non S version, the chipset fan doesn't even turn on, the board has excellent VRM. I think removing a fan that can turn on if things overheat isn't a feature.
However chipset fans apparently all break after 6 months if you believe the panic online
My Asrock chipset fan started making grinding noises after a month so I disconnected it. 2 years later no issues.
Dunno about the msi, but my Asus aorus elite x570 chipset fan (which i ramp down to low) has been fine for 3 years now
For comparison this MSI board has better VRM than the Aorus Pro (Aorus is a gigabyte brand if that's what you have).
It's overkill, and very good value for money.
My tomahawk x570 has no fan

Only ever bought one MSI board and is was a X370 board. Never had so much trouble. Never again. Same with Gigabyte. Asus or Asrock or nothing. Good price hope you have better luck than me.
