  • Purchased the purifier about 6 months ago. Does bugger all for car exhaust fumes but goes absolutely spastic if you cook. Not convinced of the HEPA rating it claims.

    • +8

I guess you’re starting to learn the difference between gas and pm2.5 particulate matter

    • +4

What do you expect it to do with car exhaust fumes? What type of fuel? Most petrol engines emit co and co2, which a hepa filter will never remove. Most diesel also release pm2.5 particulates, which is what a hepa filter was designed to trap. Right tool for the job and all that.

  • Damn I would buy if I didn't have to make an afterpay account

    • I don't either but I used the 10 dollar code for purchases over 80 bucks

  • +3

Any deals for the HEPA filters?

  • +1

Bought one of these and it did nothing.

Ended up buying a few more of varying brands and price ranges and although I agree the way it looks I like the Dyson TP9 the most for its output, silence and app.

    • What do you mean it did nothing? And how did you prove the Dyson was better?

      • My family has severe allergies and dust, pollen etc. irritate us so we rely on filtration especially at night.

I bought several solutions and the Xiaomi which I thought would be one of the better ones because the Chinese have AQ issues worse than most other countries was the worst of the bunch.

The Dyson is admittedly much more expensive, but Oransi and Conway products worked well and they were much cheaper.

        • Thanks for that! Any model numbers to check out? Also are you saying oransi and Conway are just as good as Dyson? Are the air filters easy to find for oransi and Conway?

          • +2

@fufufu: I think the Oransi Mod and the Conway Airmega 400 are better than the Dyson (TP09), HOWEVER, they both aren't available in Australia, so it's a real issue for some people to source and put up with the hassle if you require servicing or warranty replacement etc.

So I'd recommend the Dyson, either the TP7-9 if you just want to go to the good guys and be done with it.

The Oransi Mod is probably the best for the buck and looks less like a peacocking appliance than the Dyson which for some reason has to stand out. I can't stand the way every Dyson product needs to be designed to look like a Venus fly trap.

The Oransi is easier to hide and will likely blend into fabric sofas etc. which I prefer.

    • Did you use auto mode or instead set it to manual at an appropriate speed for the room size? Because these only have a pm2.5 sensor so auto mode won't detect pollen/dust.

    • And the Dyson have loads of motor whine issues.. speaking as someone who is on their 2nd one. Funny enough my Xiaomi is ok but my Philips 2000 series has been the best it's just a pity their filters have become more and more expensive

    • Same. I bought two and they dont work well - the sensitivity threshold is set too high - likely tuned to mainland china conditions. Ive had to automate mine to speed up above a threahold.

On the other hand I also bought a Philips 3000i and it really works well. Excellent detection and clearing of air.

      • The Phillips unit I had, cannot remember the model, it was $800 or so, was great, but again the Dyson slightly better imo for my use case. The filters on the Dyson seem to last longer and more easily available and cheaper, so costs are lower long term.

  • How can I apply the code AFPAYDAY on Air Purifier? It shows wrong code.

    • Just change the payment to Afterpay and it will work.

      • Thank you

  • Does anyone have air purifier 4? 3H is popular in our community but would like to know about this version. Also Hepa filters are widely available for 3H but not for this one? Looks like 3H filters are not compatible.

    • I did my research comparing it to 3H and 4 Pro and bought one of these about 3 weeks ago. Very happy with it so far. I liked that it had an Ionizer as well.
Filters are about $65 on Amazon.
I liked it so much I just ordered a 2nd one at price $20 below what I paid last month.

      • Thanks, that's really good to know.

      • What are your thoughts on air ionizers? From my research, I found they emit ozone which is harmful for the lungs.

        • +1

you can turn it off, Nagative ion can be on or off

        • yep ionizers emit ozone which is bad. if it can be turned off that is ok, I guess, but you are paying for tech which is harmful.

  • @Gearbite

What's the reason for the higher price of the G10 listings compared to last year? For eg the combo used to be listed for $385.33 before discount.

    • Cost has been increase a lot for G10. We have tried to give best price at this moment.
