  • They were selling the V2 neo at $349 last week. Should have bought one then :(

The v2 neo is cheaper bought direct from Creality. $419

FYI creality.store is not the official creality store. This is where I assume you got the $419 price point from. Creality.com is the official creality website
Source: I spoke to creality directly about this and they said creality.store is a Chinese distributor of theirs that does not actually have their permission to use their name/assets like this (but they don't seem to be interested in cracking down on it). Not sure what that means in terms of warranty and such but something to keep in mind.

  • The V2 (non-neo) is cheaper on eBay with codes PLAU15 (PLAU17 for plus) and includes free shipping. Example https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264038892979

Bought v2 a few months ago, overall very impressed.

Print size and quality is surprisingly good out of the box and great with a bit of tweaking. I haven’t run into many limits re: print size but it would still be great to be able to print larger objects. I have a feeling this is an issue that never goes away no matter how big you get though and I really haven’t run into anything I couldn’t do because of the print size so can’t complain!

    I highly recommend:

    1. Following a detailed assembly guide on YouTube and taking the time to be thorough. Take a few hours to build it instead of half an hour and save yourself a ton of work in the long run

    2. Bed level tests for your first prints (I know it’s not exciting)

    3. Test and dial in best temperature for filaments

    4. Use thingiverse and other sites for finding designs (including the above tests)

    5. Buy some filament to play with, just go with whatever is on special to start with imo (pla is the go to). The printer doesn’t come with much.

    6. If you’re not sure about designing things, have a play in tinkercad. It’s free and imo is the simplest and easiest to jump into 3d design software. It also has a good and quick tutorial. If you’ve used sketchup at all it feels very similar, just works slightly differently (less direct manipulation of shapes and more using shapes to edit other shapes.

  • Are 3D printers actually any better than they were 3 years ago? I've been waiting for the "next gen" versions.

    • +1

Not really. The Bambu X1 which is just moving to retail now after a Kickstarter is probably one of the first with “next gen” features to help those new to printing. Auto levelling in many new printers now helps but the X1 is the first with its own internal smarts

      • The Bambu X1 looks really interesting. It’s a little out of my budget for a first printer but seems like a good sign of things to come, or at least a nice second printer down the track a bit.

I’ve had an atrocious warranty experience with 3D Printers Online as has a client and a few in out local printing community. If you can get cheaper elsewhere, go for it as warranty direct through Creality is much faster and less incompetent.

    • Good to know. I’ve got no experience with them yet but have just ordered an S1 Pro from them. I wish I’d seen your message first.

  • The S1 looks like it's dipped down further to $499.95: https://3dprintersonline.com.au/creality-ender3-s1-3d-printe…
