  • Is this tv good for xbox gaming?

    • +3

No. It doesn't have HDMI 2.1

      • +3

Barely any games support 120HZ modes, it'll be fine for 4k/60 gaming

Have a read. There are certainly some games with 2.1 support, and likely more incoming.

Not quite sure why I got downvoted for saying that. This TV lacks full support for current consoles, and this will get even worse.

      • -2

Because it does have 2.1 (specifically VRR, ALLM, eARC and QMS), just not 4k/120Hz.

        • +2

"*Does not feature HDMI 2.1 input and 4K@120Hz through HDMI. All HDMI inputs are 4K@60Hz."

          • -1

@DrC: Firstly, (why did) you cut the quote:

*Game Mode Plus does not feature HDMI 2.1 input and 4K@120Hz through HDMI. All HDMI inputs are 4K@60Hz.

The first sentence is superfluous (and confused, see below.)

            Second, from the spec's:

            HDMI 2.1 compliance Partial compliance

Third, this TV has 2.1-only features, as shown in the spec's.

Fourth, blame the HDMI Forum for confusing 2.0/2.1 nomenclature.

      • +2

Especially if you're buying a tv for ~7-10 years. HDMI 2.1 is important.

        • +3

I've got nothing against Hisense - my last TV was a 75" Hisense N7, which I still use as a secondary TV (obvs can't compete with the 83" Lg C1 that replaced it, but they were at entirely different price points).

This is a very good TV for the price. The two main issues are that it does not have full support for current gen consoles, and this will get worse over the next few years. This subthread specifically asked if the TV is good for Xbox, and I am simply saying its not up to scratch for an Xbox Series X.

The other issue with this TV is the operating system (which is still much better than the Opera TV junk I have on the N7). This is easily bypassed with the addition of an nvidia shield, or a roku etc; the issue about HDMI 2.1 is not.

ALDI seems to be a way better deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/720293

Hisense vs a rebadge that goes by many names.

1 Year (ALDI) vs 3 Year (Hisense) warranty

      • TCL was offering 5 year at one point. not sure if they still do. usually costco and good guys carry them

  • Reviews are pretty good
Can't find anything about the reflectivity though. Anyone used this in a room with a lot of light/reflections?

Warning (some) Hisense TV s cannot download apps like 9 now or whichever.

"Currently it has ABC, 9 and SBS but not 10 or 7. Vidiaa is annoying. Fortunately Binge got added recently but yeah at the mercy of Hisense."

    • Yes, the ones that run VIDAA - like this one unfortunately.

      • Thanks. I absolutely didn't believe my daughter when she told me. It's 2022 and you're paying $1K and you can get a real smart TV for half that and they don't tell you? And shops waste their time when people return and opened 65 inch TV they won't be able to sell.

        • You can always find things that cost half the price of another similar thing - doesn't mean they will be as good, probably won't be even half as good.
I'd say that would apply in this case (other than the OS.)
If you want to make any TV smart/smarter just get a Google TV, they are only 80 bucks or so.

This website has a handy table for the Hisense 2022 models and their main features for comparison

    https://www.techguide.com.au/amp/news/televisions-news/hisen…

  • I have this TV, it's pretty good especially for the price. However a lot of backlight bleed, atleast on my unit.

  • +1

Damn, is this a newish model? I got a 75" Hisense nearly 4 years ago for 2 grand. This seems like a good deal. But I hope they have improved it. Mine sometimes randomly stops playing a video from the hard drive and just returns to the menu. Sometimes just randomly turns off and refuses to turn back on until I unplug and replug the power cord.

    • One of the other comments says that Hisense offer a 3 year warranty. Maybe you can have it replaced?

      • I reckon it's been more than 3 years unfortunately.

  • Why doesn't Mega work anymore? Thought it was meant to be until 6pm tonight?

    • Oh crap it was 6am today.

      • You can get it for the same price on their eBay Store if you missed out, or $1139 with eBay Plus.

        • Yes I think I'm going to do that now.

  • better than toshiba ?

  • Got the TV. Great size. Only took 48 hours from order to delivery.

    Huge size.
    Picture quality great.
Google TV seems to work nicely.

    Can't complain.

I grabbed one for my dad for fathers day and set it up. We watched Top Gun Maverick on it and it was awesome.
Definitely very low contrast, otherwise no complaints.

Yes that's what we thought, footy was fantastic viewing for the weekend too.

Going from a 43 inch to 75 inch.
I have waited a long time to have a big screen TV. But finally joined the club.
