As the major storage chip manufacturers forecasted the price for the second half does not look good to them (good for us consumers tho šŸ˜)

Bought one the other day when it was around $160 and it's even cheaper now. Enjoy.

    • 157.75 and 294.26 are not "also"

  • Thanks OP.

  • Hmm, I bought a WD Black for $175 (it's now $166) last week.. maybe I should return and buy this one.

    • Heat sink looks nicer on the WD Black :) and the WD Black heatsink version was "always super expensive. even vs the Samsung heatsink version

    • Tried doing a price match with Amazon but was told they no longer do refunds

Thanks OP. Hope 7GB/5GB R/W per sec will be enough to run Windows.

  • Heatsink isn't removable? Need one for laptop

  • Purchased, thanks OP. I have a Samsung T5 1TB but for this price, I couldnā€™t resist.

    • The Samsung T5 is a portable though.

      • Yes. But an external drive was all I needed. I only play one or two games at a time so space is normally never an issue for me.

  • Is the price drop from the previous deal due to a refresh of the conversion rate perhaps?

    • New samsung drives coming out.. discounting old model.

      • Yeah making way for the upcoming 990 Pro

Can this be used for ps5?

    • +1

Yes, though you may want to update it's firmware via a PC to get the best speeds out of it before you put it into PS5.

    • Samsung if you unlucky got the one with old firmware, need to be updated firmware via a PC T_T
You can not even use M.2 encloser and laptop.

In my opinion, for PS5, better buy the WD black:
      https://www.amazon.com.au/WD_Black-Internal-Gaming-Technologā€¦

      Or Nextorage, and Nextorage:
      https://www.amazon.com/Nextorage-Internal-Expansion-NEM-PA1Tā€¦

Both not much more expensive than the Samsung

      • I went to cancel my Samsung order and purchase the WD Black you just posted but my Samsung order has shipped.
Can I update the Samsung firmware with my M1 iMac?

        • No windows only the software Samsung provided T_T

Just do a speed test, if you get full speed, then you lucky, and get the new firmware.

      • Thanks, will have a look at this

  • If I click the link itā€™s showing currently unavailable?

    • It is available for me if it's not too late.

      • Showing as currently unavailable to me and see all buying options which still is not showing. Oh well save me $158 I guess

        • Back in stock.

          Just got myself one.

          Thank you Op

  • Anyone have any recommendations for a little screwdriver etc kit to install an ssd in a laptop (Legion 5 pro)?

  • Why would you want to buy an SSD that needs a heatsink over one that doesn't? I presume it's about speed, bit it can't be of much importance these days, the CPU and RAM are now important for that.

    • Because they use this on ps5.

  • Out of stock for that price?

    Back in stock $157.51

  • I ordered this and instead received two kiddie backpacks by mistake. Someone wasn't paying attention when packing my order :(

Iā€™ve finally installed the Pro 980 into my PS5. The read test was 6500 MB/s.
So it looks like these particular models have the new firmware already on it. Iā€™m relieved because I donā€™t have a PC to update the firmware.
