  • Does OW match Amazon prices ?

    • I don't think that's how it works

    • +1

They do for Amazon Au directly but this is a third party seller so doubt they would. Could test your luck.

      • Got them to price match apple watch yesterday from amazon.com.au it was 3rd party.

      • Depends, I got some Samsung Buds Pros matched from a 3rd Party seller a few months ago, they only checked to confirm the model number was the Australian version. Got them for about $170 down from $299 or whatever they were

    • +2

OP's link for $295 is from a third party and not Amazon directly. Officeworks might not beat it. BUT, Amazon itself is selling the black one for $299 and OW will beat this price! Hopefully OW drops its ticket price then you can ask JB to price match and use gift cards.

To get to Amazon's own listing, click Other seller on Amazon, then add the $299 to cart. Go through your cart and you can open up the product page.

    • I've successfully price beat amazon prices at officeworks

Just biught from Good guys commercial for 270

  • Has anyone on here used both, Jabra Elite 85T and these Sony earbuds? If so, how do they compare?

    • +3

Haven't used the Jabra, only own the Sony WF-1000, 1000xm3, and 1000xm4.

Consensus is that WF1000xm4 > Jabra generally.

Sony has one of the best ANC.
Sound quality, apparently people say the Galaxy Bud Pro series outshines the Sony but ANC is weaker.

Call quality is not great. Not sure about Jabra's call quality

      • How do you find the comfort and fit of the 1000xm4? I owned the 1000xm3, while I liked the way they sound they were quite heavy and didn't sit in my ears properly.

        • +6

          XM4 >>> XM3, no comparison.

XM3 doesn't sit well in the ear. Even with aftermarket tips. You have to pray the foam stays in the ear.

XM4 has an ergonomic body that fits in the canal and doesn't rely on the foam tips to keep the ear bud inside. Shake your head, it's fine.

Prolonged use of the earphone for 3-4 hours and it can get uncomfortable.

        • +1

xm4 have a strange design, where there is no leeway, your ear has to be perfect sized. I"m not talking about the bud part that goes into the ear canal, I mean where the rest of the unit rests in the ear. Just doesn't fit some people, this can cause discomfort, or it can make it seem like the noise reduction doesn't work due to the angle the bud is forced in the ear.

For me I have to really push the buds in, causing excessive pressure of the non bud section pressing against my ear. Currently not sure I can get used to it for wearing long term. Other problem is the transparency mode. It's not very good compared to others. I find myself ripping out 1 or both buds after starting a conversation because I can't understand the person which is annoying and could result in loss of the units.

        • I've had both the xm3 and xm4. Yes the xm3 does feel "heavier" due to it protruding out more, hence more likely to be dislodged, but I still found them comfier than the xm4.
I agree with the poster above, the xm4 relies heavily on the shape/size of your ear. So if your ears are say, smaller than average, then these will put extra pressure on them and become uncomfortable after a short while (for me they become unbearable after just an hour).

For extended listening, or if comfort is an important factor to you, I recommend earphones that have adjustable "wings" like the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro which I much prefer over these.

      • Very tempting! Although, I really need good call quality because I take a lot of calls on the go.

        • +2

It's good enough that others aren't complaining.

Check YouTube for review and sound samples.

        • +1

Based on my experience, it's not great for calls especially if you're on the go.
People on the other side of the call (volte, teams etc) have said that I sound muffled.

It's okay if you are indoors in a quiet environment.

    • +1

I've used the 75T and these, these are much better!

  • ANC and battery life vs Air Pods Pro?

    • I'd like to know about this comparison too if anyone has had the opportunity to use both.

      • +4

Battery life is miles ahead of the Airpods Pro. With ANC on, Airpods Pro lasts me about 3-4 hours. This lasts 7-8 hours easily. Also the ANC is much better than Airpods Pro.

    • I use both.

ANC: Sony is way better, like with music on, I can’t hear anything else in shopping centres. AirPods Pro you can hear a lot more noise even ANC is on.

Battery life: Sony last forever. AirPods Pro battery die a lot sooner.

      Why I use both?!
      1. AirPods Pro call quality is better, so I use it for calls. Sony isn’t bad, just not as good.
      2. Convenience - AirPods Pro just switch easily between Apple devices.
      3. Comfort - AirPods Pro is more comfortable but Sony isn’t bad.
      4. Sony quality - Sony beats AirPods Pro hands down. Not comparison. I just can’t ditch my Sony for the sound.

    • Interesting… in what ways would you say they work better?

      • +3

They very clearly don't, this is a nonsense comment.

        • +1

Yea I figured cooldog just dropped a hot take.

    • Please elaborate.

      • +2

"I've never tried the ones in the post but mine are better because I have them"

  • Not the cheapest ever, at least including seconds. I've found sony seconds to be okay and a couple weeks ago this model was $194

    • +2

Used/second hand earbuds is a bridge too far for most i think.

      • People often put worse things in their bodies. Most experiences with Sony seconds have been positive. They tend to be a new or at least look to be new and I'm sure they'd at least clean them or supply new silicon ear bud covers.

      • I recently got a pair of seconds wf-1000xm4.. you wouldn’t be able to tell they were seconds, mint condition including the tips. Your mileage may vary tho.

  • +2

With the Pixel buds pro around, how does it compare to this? Basically the same price at ~300

  • +1

Got mine last week and now I am returning them.

As soon as I started using them the left bud would experience False touches and switch ANC/Ambience on/off on their own and also for some reason the volume on the buds would go down to very very low levels. The phone would be at max volume and could hardly hear any sound from the buds.

    • +2

I had this issue due to running thru the google setup. Download the app and turn off feature the lowers volume when someone is speak. But i found the sound was better before the last update. Though you can change it thru eq.

      • Thanks Hot Stuff. I had done all the troubleshooting steps. Spoke to support. They got me to run a few more. No Joy.

    • +1

Phantom touches seem to be a common issue. I got my repaired/replaced under warranty.

      • +1

Yup. I am getting mine replaced as of now. If the issue happens on the next one as well. Will ask for a refund.
These things are not cheap. There should be some level of quality control.

  • +1

Got the last [SECONDS] deal off here for $214
Thry literally sent out a brand new pair

    • Personal preference, but I always buy these type of personal electronics in physical stores. The replacement and warranty is so much easier.

      • Yeah, just my experience when dealing with retailers as a middleman has been very hit and miss.
It's usually last on their priority list to sort out and prone to getting lost in the system.
Happened to me with a laptop from officeworks and 1 month later they still hadn't sent it off.

Ever since just dealt with the manufacturer directly and everything has been fixed with little to no delay.

    • Same here .. flawless condition

    • I bought a set for $214 as well, but the ANC does not work at all.

  • +1

Very good price for these earbuds, recently used them on a trip to Singapore and the ANC along with the sound quality was fantastic

    • Did you find the anc gd enough for flights? Have some ancient wh-1000x with a broken hinge Found them a bit uncomfortable / too hot for long haul flights so was wondering if the earbuds will be a better option.

      • They're good, but they’re never going to be as good as over ears, however over ears are a lot more expensive….

On my recent flight I was switching back and forth constantly with these and my XM5 over ears. The ANC is better on the XM5 but really not by that much. When you have something playing, the engine noise is just faint in the background on both, so I wouldn’t get over ears for ANC only, but more for comfort.

For this price point, I’d go with these though, however on my recent flight I did revert to my XM5 more-so just due to long term comfort.

These XM4 have a memory foam on the ear tips.

They’re bigger than usual as they “mold” to the shape of your ear to get a perfect seal for the ANC. It works great, however since the tips are larger than normal for this to happen, over prolonged time I did find it causing strain on my ears. Something I didn’t experience with my old sennheiser moment wireless, that just used normal ear tips.

Something to keep in mind if using these long term. Mine are still relatively new so the foam could soften, but just something I noticed.

My wife has the WH-XM4 which I tested and agreed got way too hot for my ears, however I didn’t find this to be the case with the WH-MX5.

Edit: also these XM4 earphones were much easier to sleep in vs over ear!

  • Damn, so close. I've been waiting for the WH-1000XM4 to go on sale :(

  • been using this for several years - excellent set of earbuds. Some eq tweaking recommended to get the best sound of out them.

    • +7

I'm more interested to hear about your time traveling adventures, since these were released a little over 12 months ago

      • Haha woops! Covid time sure feels like several years ugh. But I upgraded from xm3s earbuds and my timeline must have gotten them tangled up.

Still, have used it for several travels and long haul flights. Works well!

    • Agree re EQ.. find I need to push mids and especially higher frequencies.

  • -5

Wired earphones and headphones are a far better health choice, but it's your life, people.

  • I thought OW's price match was only 5%?

    • Price beat, yes it is.

  • +3

$270 on the good guys commercial

  • I bought the sony seconds, the ANC function does not work at all

  • I was really wanting a pair of these but all the reviews I read said if you have small ears forget it. They won't stay in. In the end I bought some Beats Fit Pro from Officeworks. Got them to price beat Mobileciti and ended up paying $254. The fit is good and comfortable and the wing tips help to secure them in my ears. ANC is ok. Not amazing but you can certainly hear the difference between it being on and off.

  • Got jb to price match at 299

  • +1

if you ahve goodguys commercial through rest is 270ish
