  • Is 8GB low for this card or normal?

    • +9

The 3070/Ti are both 8gb cards so yes normal. Not really worthy of a buy now with 4000 around the corner and 8gb will probably be lacking in a few years time. If you are going for longevity I wouldn't go for a 3070ti, maybe a 3080 with 10gb.

      8GB is normal. 3080 is where there's a 10GB and 12GB version.

    • Speed over size. The RAM modules dictate the total VRAM on cards.

At this rate it won't be long before you need more VRAM than system RAM.

    • Only comes in one memory size but it was massively criticized for having insufficient memory for a card that cost in the ball park of $1k.

    • The 70 series are primarily a 2K ultrawide card for which 8GB is enough for now and for next 1 or 2 years. Post that one need to lower settings. If you want future proof look at atleast 10GB for ultrawide and 12+GB for 4K.

      • I have 2 ultrawides and 2 standard 1080p noticing some issues, you think I should go straight for 3080 ti or 3090 ?

        • Just observe the vram usage when gaming using afterburner or somethibng and if its way above the limit then go for next gen. Not 3xxx at this point.

    First one to HODL.

      • Cheaper, Faster and with double the ram. New all time low benchmark price to be set by anything slower

AMD are fantastic value at the moment, and are contributing to pushing NVIDIA prices down, but I'll hold some more. no rush

I remember when I bought the RTX 3070 version of this card for like $1149 then it peaked at $1450ish

    As usual, just HODL.

Good price, but a bit too late. nvidia will be annoucing another round of price drop in september. And release of 4000 series, even if its just 4090 will make 3xxx drop in prices further.

  • +1

My uncle works at geeforce and he said the 4000s will definitely be released in November so AMD don’t have too long with their new cards on the market with no competition.

    • Well the question is which 4000s. No doubt the 4090 will come out, but 4080? For 4070 and 4060 I wouldn't have hope to see them this year.

  • hold squad coming into September team green will sweat
