Spotlight currently have a 30% to 50% off sale running which includes all SodaKing products.

While the price for these machines is quite good, there is a current deal on Amazon available for the SodaKing Spark unit (white only) for $39.99. Pretty good value, considering the discount price of the cylinder at Spotlight is $25.90, you're only paying $14.09 for the machine.

As pointed out by jv in previous posts, if you live in Melbourne, you can get $10 refills from Billy Bubbles, providing you have one of their cylinders, but it will cost $20 to swap over a Sodastream or SodaKing cylinder for one of theirs. It is a delivery service only for which they charge an extra $5.

Also keep in mind that, while it doesn't suit everyone (me included), there are methods available for direct connection to larger gas cylinders or for refilling these cylinders via adapters available from [Kegland}(kegland.com.au)

  • $14 is a great price, but being a true Ozbargainer would like to know the cheapest way around this one !
Has anyone out there tried to refil their containers using dry ice ? here's on of many videos online https://youtu.be/lVthMHsrqWM
I'd imagine it would most likely not be economical for a few refils, and it may be hard to find or even transport dry ice.

    • [an attempt to be a true ozbargainer]
Kegland (home brew supplier) sells these containers for 21$ + delivery and my local home brew shop in Kambah/Canberra refills them for 11$ (cheaper in Syd/Mel, 9$?). Kegland containers are compatible with SodaStream/SodaKing and have an old style valve which is not that useful for Soda use but it is if you want to ozbargain even more and buy 2.6kg (or even 6kg) CO2 container to refill SodaKind/SodaStream/Kegland bottles yourself for about 5$/refill.

  • No no no … Cant do it…

  • so you can't open the cartridges to refill or all these youtube videos are just all a big lie, as in dry ice does not convert to Co2 ?

  • Not $14, but for anyone in Sydney*, for $18 incl free delivery I can wholeheartedly recommend Bubble: https://www.bubble.delivery/
Somehow, their canisters also last longer than the Soda stream ones, but they're the same size

*From memory it's selected suburbs only but I couldn't tell you which suburbs

    Hope this is allowed!

  • Are these swappable? Meaning using SodaKing cylinder on SodaStream machine and vice versa.

    • Yes, as long as your SodaStream is the screw in type.

  • I'm gonna go get two tomorrow. Will it still be going?

    • +1

Yes, until the 13th of September.

Thanks for the Billy Bubbles suggestion, just ordered through them. The post didn't mention that it's a delivery service so thought that I would add that here.

    • Good point. I'll add it to the post.

  • Reckon I could swap a sodastream co2 bottle for a sofa king one (I doubt it because the bottles are branded)? Haha

    • I've read here that some people have been able to do it at BigW, but pretty sure Spotlight won't.
