The reign of House Targaryen begins: House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, is here. Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.

House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine (The Outsider), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint (It’s a Sin, Doctor Who), Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, and Rhys Ifans. Additional cast members include Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn. Martin and Ryan Condal serve as co-creators on the series. Miguel Sapochnik and Condal are showrunners, and the pair also serve as executive producers along with Martin, Sara Hess, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis, and Ron Schmidt. Clare Kilner and Geeta Vasant Patel also direct the series. Greg Yaitanes is director and co-executive producer. Game of Thrones and Westworld composer Ramin Djawadi scored the series.

      Not sure why the downvotes - its a bit naff when the second episode has jumped 6 months then the 3rd another 3 years! Like, nothing interesting is happening in Westeros over those 3.5-4 years? Then they spent the whole 3rd episode focused on 1 day, like c'mon, get things moving! Feels very season 8 GOT….

    The CGI in episode 3 was terrible. The crab and stag were the worst, but the dragon cave scene also looked terrible. I don't understand it because I thought the dragon CGI was pretty good in the first two episodes. The costumes and sets also seemed a little cheap in episode 3, the extras felt like guys in costumes sitting around sets.

      Yeah I have to agree I thoohjr the CGI in this episode looked super cheap. The darker skin fella riding on the dragon in battle at the end looked like a super cheap green screen

    If you're going to use a VPN to bypass things so you can watch something you technically legally can't/shouldn't due to regional licensing or w/e, you might as well use the VPN to pirate all three episodes lol. Effectively the same thing, but better.

      i think game of thrones is what will prevent people from being hooked, people will keep their expectations in check. i will certainly give this a watch once all the episodes are out (i can't go back to waiting a week for a new episode, i just lose interest) but i'm not going to expect it to be good, maybe it will be bad, but in that case all i've lost is a few hours of my time.

      if you want to watch, just remember what happened and then watch it, keep expectations in check.

      No chance of that. It's so meh. I think the pilot (ep. 1) had a different intro with an all new score (or at least the version I saw did), then in ep 2 and 3 they just overlayed the new scenes with the Game of Thrones theme.

      But, the acting, the characters, the story… puh-lease. Perhaps if it had some bigger name actors in it (sorry, Matt Smith doesn't do it for me). But, it just goes to show that the new show (set 172 years before Daenerys Targaryen was around) clearly shows that they really screwed up the ending of Game of Thrones. Why not do something no other series has… go back and re-do the final season and give fans the ending they want (in a not so predictable way). Seriously, Bran as King of The North (if I roll my eyes any more they'll get stuck in the back of my head). Daenerys or Jon (or both, should have been rulers). Did we really see Cersei's body? That would've been one hell of a plot twist.

      Re-do season 8 instead of this rubbish that is just relying on a few shocking scenes to keep viewers hooked.

        wasn't he ruler of the 7 kingdoms, not just the north? either way, my understanding is that the general plot of season 5 and onwards (even season 8) was what george was going to do, but the two idiots just did not have the skill to execute it, so bran would probably still become king if george ever finishes the bloody books, it will just be done better.
