  • For the price, it's a good backup lighter.

    • +4

Not as good as $19.49 for 2. Of course that deal wasn't posted by the rep.

      • +8

Well, I don't really need two backup lighters while camping ;) I'd rather have an extra beer.

        • You need a backup for the backup lighter

      • +7

2 deal is back, click on coupon …under $19 for 2

        • Thanks heaps OP and garage sale, was hoping to buy the 2 for 1 for a while.

        • Sorry for the stupid question, but I've clicked on that deal posted by m9 but don't see what you're saying when you say "click on coupon". I may be blind, sorry, can you point me to the right spot?

          • @Devastator0: That deal says it has expired.

            • +1

@melans: Yeah, I know but then I'm curious to what garage sale is referring to.

              • @Devastator0: The select coupon box is under the photo of the lighter under the heading Special offers and product promotions.

      • +6

correct, it's even cheaper now (bottom of the list) 【2 Pcs Set Orange + Green $17.99】YESDEX Electric Plasma Lighter USB Rechargeable-Windproof(amazon.com.au)

      • +1

Bought the 2 pack deal. Thanks!

      • +1

Best time to pick up smoking I guess

    • +1

An even better backup lighter is an actual lighter. Instead of stashing this in a drawer or in your car somewhere or camping back, stash a spare BIC instead.

I did buy one of these because it gets posted here a lot, I think they are this cheap normally anyway. But I still use a BIC and never this thing.

      • +1

Trouble is the gas may slowly leak out and then it isn’t backing up anything. This as a backup in the car could be recharged in a jiffy from the car.

On that, I have often wondered why (or at least I haven’t seen) a solar powered version for real remote use. Just sit it in the sun for an hour or two to recharge the battery if it is flat.

        • +1

Sit in the sun for an hour or two with your solar panel when your electronic lighter goes flat. Or just bring a few BICs with you.

        • +2

Here's a more streamlined solution for lighting things when you have your car. You'll find that most cars even have a special spot to plug this in already. https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-12v-cigarette-lighte…

          • @macrocephalic: Great little DIY kit. As an added feature, the whole car could catch fire if not installed properly

            • @ialam99: Well you could just take the lighter out and put it in the socket that's already in your car, that's what they were made for. I only linked the kit because it was the cheapest lighter option.

    • Not as good as a $3 Bic. Reliability is key for a back up.

  • +8

Got one in red, thanx. Not as good as a plasma rifle in a 40watt range but…

    • +9

      Just what you see pal.

    • +2

you wouldnt be happen to be looking for sarah conner ?

      • I was thinkin Master Chief

      • I need your clothes, boots, and your motorcycle.

  • +14

I just get a heymix charger and plug it in, wait a few minutes and you should have a good amount of flames.

    • Hahahaha I shouldn't laugh this hard but hahahahaha

  • does anyone know what type of usb charging port it uses?

    • +1

      micro USB

      • +15

Such a shame, really trying to move away from purchasing any gadgets which use micro USB

        • +2

Same… I simply don't but anything anymore that is micro USB.

          • @brannor: Why?

            • +5

@pharkurnell: Perhaps you're kidding? Anyhoo, I can tell why I don't. It's because that is a really flimsy, fiddly, weak, pissy one-way connector.

              • +4

@Lps: And those are its good points.

              • +1

@Lps: no not kidding.. never had an issue with them myself… was just wondering

                • +3

@pharkurnell: It's not as robust as usb-c, but more importantly, it's a legacy connector. If you get rid of everything with micro usb then you simply don't need micro usb cables anymore. I'm not there yet, so I still carry around a little 10cm micro usb cable for emergencies.

                  • +1

@macrocephalic: I got a box like a milk crate size of USB cables at home… all sorts gained over the years.

                    • +2

@pharkurnell: Same, I use empty toilet rolls to keep all the cables separated, which I find works really well and allows you to have them so that the connectors are standing up and neatly organised

            • @pharkurnell: I binned almost all my micro USB. Only a few legacy items remain and they all use the same cable… they are all marked as deprecated and to be replaced by type C. Producers of the cables didn't follow any real form of standard with some longer than others, but in the end, flimsy and fragile and prone to damaging the ports. (even more so with kids…)

Better to buy the one with the Arc on top. https://www.amazon.com.au/Waterproof-Lighter-Dual-Lighter-US…

    • Not suggesting your wrong. But what's the reasoning???

      • When lighting you'll need to fit something in between the 2 sides as opposed to the arc where you can just have it on top of the heat source

        • Thanks.

          • -8

            @chewbot: Fairly obvious really

      • +1

more versatility, you can light up things like Jiffy fire lighters or bulky material, using the end of the arc.
The one advertised by the Op requires the material to fit into between the arc, so only good for candles, cigarettes etc.

        • +1

I guess if you use it as a cigarette lighter it is the better option as if you have children and accidentally play with it its not as risky as a more direct open flame.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Well, we've kinda been trying to keep kids away from matches and lighters for like, as long as they've been invented, so this isn't really a new problem.

Just keep it out of reach of kids.

        • Makes sense.

    • +17

For $12.74 for a pair, these look better for lighting the gas stove or campfire, just not as pocketable.
      www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09MZB1857

      • +2

Damn, they look poised to take over the planet

        • +1

You must have gone to a different page. The pair I've bought look like sex toys in gold and black. They'll fire up something.

      • Yes! Also better for those candles that are inside glass cups. Can't reach the cord-thingy with the model advertised.

    • $16.49 correct?

    • got this one, thanks for the heads up

  • +1

The two piece set is pretty good value

  • These work well? Do they hold charge for long periods of time?

    • +1

I got one in the last deal. It's been in my draw ever since. Just took it out and it works like normal. I press the button a dozen or so times just for the hell of it.

  • Cheers OP ;)

  • +1

Fun little lighter. Bought it cause it was cheap, had it in my car in case i needed it, never used it lmao. Got it like 2ish years ago

    • +3

That’s what we do at Ozbargain

  • Cheaper than Aliexpress. Good price

  • +4

Am I ever going to buy one of these..? I feel like I should, because bargain and it's orange, but I will never use it 🤔

    • +1

      Reasons to buy this
      1. bargainz!
      2. It’s bright Orange so easy to find in back of glove box, and as bright Orange it signals serious outdoors shit.
      3. It makes stuff burn.

  • yes get ones with the arch on top , otherwise it makes lighting things difficult.

  • Do I need to be a smoker to have this?

    • +1

      Only on the X-Files…

    • There may never again be such a cheap high-tech way to light your first c-stick

  • +2

These are great. I've replaced all my butane lighters around the house with electric ones.
No more hassle of buying gas, making sure it's full, using a lighter to only find it's dried out and clicking away like a lunatic a thousand times to get it to work.

Zippo have an arc lighter insert that goes into all their shells which is cool if you're a collector of those.

    • +1

This still requires a consumable energy source. Its deciding whether you're less fond of plugging in or squirting. That said these shouldn't be mutually exclusive.

      • -1

This still requires a consumable energy source

But if you got solar you get it for free! That is what Tesla owners tell you about their electricity. Like they check the weather forecast and stay plugged in from sunrise to sunset so they can get 20kwh into their batteries.

  • Hi
I can't seem to get the discount, it is showing $20.99

    • Have you ticked the box that applies the voucher? It should be under the price. Once applied, you'll see the discount at the checkout.

  • +2

Any good for lighting a cone while on the bike?

  • Looks so sci-fi. I love it. Didn't know we could get plasma spark in a handheld device.

  • Am I the only one thinking that with a small modification these would make a fun shock gun toy?

  • While they are cool looking be aware they can be harder to light things such as bigger candles and candles in jars due to the spark being between the two prongs at the top.

  • +2

The 2 pack doesn't show 40% off voucher.

  • +9

pro tip: don't use this to light a sparkler for a kid while they are holding it - the power goes straight through to their little hands for a bit more than a tickle

  • showing up as full price. am i missing something?

  • Been looking for one of these to use at the end of a concert

  • +2

Oz Bargain deal over! The link has increased prices.

    • You need to click the 40% off checkbox on Amazon. Price is the same once you go to checkout

      • Voucher showing as 10% off for me. At checkout it's $26.99.
        Deal over?

        • Still shows 40%. I'm unsure why you can only see 10%

        • Not sure. Here's what I see. I've highlighted the box that needs to be ticked. Out of interest are you guys prime member?

          • @Froot Loops: I'm a Prime member.

If you're not then I'm surprised you still aren't after 7 years as a OZB member.

I can only imagine all the great deals you have missed out on.

We tick that box and it should be discounted later after check out.

    What should i do?

    • ask for a refund or exchange.

      • -1

        Ah ok thanks
