  • 6 cents cheaper than Officeworks with shipping. You are going to have to do better than that.

Also please update title to 500GB

Half the size for the same price = fail.

    • That's not a usb powered portable drive, this is.

Failing to see obvious difference = fail post by me.
      I am negging myself.

Hmmm, I can't remove my negative or make it a positive.

      • It's an easy enough mistake to make, plenty have before and will again no doubt.

You can remove your neg but you can't vote again. Up the top of the post under the title where it says view and votes - click on votes and you can undo your neg there.

Don't worry, the Ozbargain community removed it for you haha.

  • I'd suggest that you change the title from "with $9.99 shipping" to "plus $9.99 shipping" as the way it currently reads kinda makes it sound like the shipping is included in (with) the price.

  • Good Deal thanks!

  • Bet the person that purchased 5x for $129 each is spewing!

Good price but a lot of negative feedback on newegg about the proprietary connector being unreliable and failing

Think I'd prefer a drive with a mini or micro-usb port so at least you can swap the cable easily

    • +1

I don't think that the connector is proprietary; it appears to be identical to the connector on my USB 3.0 WD drive. But, if it's the port on the device which is loose, that's not going to help me.

    • thanks for the heads up on the port. it does sound poorly designed from all the reviews

  • Been researching a bit about this drive and want to get it but beware of:

"It's obvious from user complaints that the Toshiba Canvio has a serious problem with its cable: It keeps popping out of the drive's connector, a frustrating problem that aggravates many users. Although this drive performs well overall, the cable issue can't be ignored.

Checked some reviews from Amazon from users as well. They complained about the cable becoming loose.

Guys, I Have one of these and I can tell you the stock cable is absolute garbage. After a week or so It will come loose BUT! BIG BUT buy something like this

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-3-0-6FT-6Feet-Male-Micro-B-Ma…

My cable now works 100% of the time I plug it in. Its not the exact model but was from a different seller. No more fiddling trying to get the right angle and stuff. Have a look around ebay, cause this cord is 6ft which is like 181cm

Overall Its a very good Hard drive and very cheap and I will vouch for it. Although 99+postage isn't really cheap because that is what I paid last year…

    • Is that cable USB to micro USB ? Or is the small end proprietary ? It looks a little like my seagate goflex male piece.

      • Yeah they are pretty universal all of the usb 3.0 input plugs. The micro usb side hooks onto the hard drive and to a normal usb to the comp. Its not a special plug as I discovered.

  • Not a bad price but I have a friend that has one and it is a bit dodgy - very slow and seems to lose connectivity quite a bit…..

  • Is a portable hard drive (such as this one) suitable for connecting to a PVR or HD recorder to provide extra storage space? If not, could someone more knowledgeable than me advise please on what I should purchase/use?
    Thanks in advance.

    • I tried hooking it to my usb samsung dvd player with no luck. If that helps lol.
