Series 7 is the most durable Apple Watch ever built

The same price at the Apple store, this is the new RRP until stock clears.

    • +3

Can you link it via Apple? I can’t find it.

      • Second this, can anyone find a link to the series 7 watches on the Apple Store? Asking because I would like to spend my apple gift cards

        • It’s in store only and only while they clear out old stock. I called to check the price late last week hoping for a larger drop.

          • @get-innocuous: Were they doing custom watch/band combos, or locked to the standard sport band (like you are at non-Apple stores)?

    • How are you seeing brand new Apple Watch 7's in the Apple Store? I'm only getting refurbished items.

  • +2

Will it go cheaper? Plenty of deals for $499 in the past on this model.

    • +4

      I predict $415.71

  • JB Hifi (online) won't price match…

  • Hi all who have tried this watch. Thoughts on the difference between 41 and 45mm? My wrist isn't particularly huge, is it worth the bigger version?

Can't throw the display watches on your hand to test it when you go in-store so has been a bit tough to gauge.

    • 41mm is more than adequate for most people. No functional difference.

      • +1

More screen real estate is a huge difference. It’s like saying there’s no functional difference between a 2 inch screen phone and a 7 inch screen phone.

        • Depends on each individual usage requirements

        • +2

What? A 2 inch screen is 28% of a 7 inch screen. Last time I checked a 41mm apple watch is not 28% the screen size of a 45mm apple watch.

Functionally speaking, name me ONE function that the 41mm apple watch cannot do compared to the 45mm apple watch. I think maybe you're suggesting some functional features may be more practical on the 45mm such as the keyboard, which is true… but then again it's not that practical to type on your apple watch anyway.

If your wrist is small to medium sized, get the 41mm. The 45mm watch is definitively much more suited to large wrists. I can't even imagine anyone with an average wrist size rocking the new 49mm watch ultra.

          • @Dr Fruit:

A 2 inch screen is 28% of a 7 inch screen. Last time I checked a 41mm apple watch is not 28% the screen size of a 45mm apple watch.

Based on area (usable screen space), not the ratio of 41mm vs 45mm as a length, from this link it actually is 28% larger.

the 41mm has a display area of 904 sq mm, the one with 45mm has a display real state of over 1143 sq mm, which is 28.7% larger

            • +1

@Smigit: Is that really what they said though? They’re literally comparing a 2 inch screen to a 7 inch screen as if that’s analogous to a 41 vs 44mm watch. Read it again. A 7 inch screen is what, like >400% the size of a 2 inch screen? Have you seen a 2 inch screen?

I stand by my statement that a 41mm Apple Watch is not functionally less capable than the 45mm in any way. I thought we’re just discussing whether or not it’s suitable for someone’s wrist size.

On an unrelated note, these watches have been cheaper before at below $500 I think. This is just an ok price, and considering a new watch just came out I’d say it’s not that great.

              • @Dr Fruit: And what about the Low Power Mode incoming? The batteries are different in the different sizes to accomodate the power use of the different sized screens. Once the always on is changed the large Watch will last longer on a charge

                • @Loracks: Probably, maybe, idk. But battery life differences between the 45mm and 41mm models has never been publicly differentiated by Apple (and real life tests) because 1. It’s negligible in its current form, and 2. there are just too many factors that influence battery life, eg. Cellular vs GPS versions, how often you use it, what you use it for.

Imo it shouldn’t be a main deciding factor for choosing either one.

    • Actually, the larger screen may last longer on a charge once the new battery mode update happens.
It'll turn off the always on screen

Me and wife have the 44mm. The 40/41 is bordering too small. I could easily go bigger.

    • +1

Go 45mm unless you have a very slim wrist.

    • +3

41 is small. 45 isnt large. It's medium. If you have "average" wrists, go with 45

    • +1

You can try them on in the Apple store. 41mm is too small in my opinion. You will be reading the screen frequently, so the bigger the better. Not only that, but the 45mm even looks better. There is something about the bigger screen. When you play around with the different Watch faces, they look better and sharper on the 45mm to my eyes. Bigger battery too.

    • +1

      I’m a 5 ft female and I wouldn’t even consider the 41mm. I’ve got a 44 mm Apple Watch 5 and it is fine.

If you want to test them out go to the Apple stores, they will let you put them on your wrist to look at.

I recall a time you'd spend this much on a watch that'll last a lifetime. Now it's disposable in a few years :O

    • +1

You still can? There was a time you would buy phones that lasted a life time.

      • -3

        They wern’t mobile phones, Grannie

        • +6

And those watches weren’t smart. The most they could do is tell the time, the date, and maybe do basic calculator. They couldn’t track heart rate, stride length, activities, do ecgs, install apps, make calls, change watch face, ask assistant questions, smart House integration, reply to messages and emails, order an Uber, stream Spotify to your bt headphones etc etc etc. watches have come a long way, great grannie.

    • +1

I recall a time where the women gathered berries and the men hunted. Where did we go wrong…

  • Makes me wonder where do non-smart watches go from here

    • Battery life ;-)

    • Look further for non-smart people?
