  Managed to get $250 x 10 Vanilla Gift cards at Coles Hawthorn (VIC) this afternoon and an hour later was in Woolworths Hawthorn converting $2000 worth into $500 x 4 Ultimate Variable Home cards. My POS terminal confirmed the total of $200 credit going into my Rewards account.
  Note: I needed to staff member to be around a lot to approve things on the screen. They were happy to assist.
  I was also very surprised to have the Visa cards activated so quickly.

    $2000 ultimate GCs for $1654..
    I was thinking of this, but wanted to check if someone can confirm if this works..

    Do you know if we can use existing credits in woolies app to buy these GCs?

    @danielh did you have to do anything specific on the screen? How did you use the vanilla card, just swipe and enter the pin at the back?

      • On the checkout screen, choose Card (if the balance of your Vanilla Visa gift card fully covers the amount owed) or Card (Split Payment) and enter the amount you want to redeem (if the balance of your Vanilla Visa gift card is not sufficient to cover the full amount owed).

      • Swipe the Vanilla Visa gift card on the EFTPOS terminal.

      • If you are asked to enter a PIN, press enter without entering any numbers. Vanilla Visa gift cards do not have a PIN associated with it and it is not possible to set a PIN, so if you press enter on the PIN prompt screen without entering any numbers, you are actually going through the signature verification option. However, Woolworths (and BIG W) currently do not require you to supply your actual signature, so as soon as you press enter, your purchase will be approved (assuming your Vanilla Visa gift card has not expired, has sufficient balance available, etc). If you instead enter a random number on the PIN prompt screen and press enter, the payment request should be declined, as you’re in that situation opting for PIN verification, which Vanilla Visa gift cards cannot support.

      Also note that as I was getting a $500 Ultimate HOME card, you had to select the option that allowed me to split my payment into $250 x 2.
      I also recommend having a staff member handy nearby (and let them know you are about to buy a lot of $500 cards) as they will be popping past your POS terminal a lot to approve various things.
      Also if you do not want Qantas points, maybe try to change it to Rewards cash but I do not know how to do that.

  Any idea if the student card would scan with the bonus points? IIRC, one of the previous deals the catalogue didnt show but then at check out the points showed up?
