  Start with a Lamy Safari or Kaweco Perkeo. These 'classic' Parkers are cheaply made new rubbish cashing in on nostalgia/brand name.

    Start with a sarasa grand or a zebra f701 (with Fischer space refill) if you want something that'll write underwater.

    Lamy isn't very compatible with other refills.

  Pen snobbery is alive and well here. I've been using Jotters for over 40 years without a problem. Let's face it, it's only a conduit for the refill. There are plenty of exorbitant priced refills you can buy that fit the Jotter, if it makes you feel better.

    If you're talking about the Jotter ballpoint then you're definitely correct - they're probably the most ubiquitous, reliable, and recognisable refillable ballpoint around. However, the pen in this deal is a fountain pen, and that's a completely different story. Not all cheap FPs are also 'good'; I've not personally used a Jotter like this one, but I've got a couple of Kaweco pens and I can attest to their quality as an inexpensive good writer.
