            • @atrorz: Again what are you on about. What exactly is this issue with autofocus? With the auto macro mode turned off, all you have to do is engage the wide angle camera manually for any macro shots and it does not take 20 seconds to focus. What has turning macro mode off got to do with autofocus you obtuse duck!

As for post processing, 100's of complaints for 100 of millions of iPhone's sold just last year! You cant please everyone. And none of those links that you shared talk about the so called "human subjects" that you are on about for no reason at all and some of them looks like genuine problems with the camera module itself, an easy warranty replacement.

  • +3

128gb can't even handle a single app called WeChat!

    • +3

Right, that's why we carry a PC with 512GB RAM, 4TB SSD, 24TB HDD, nVidia RTX 3090Ti, 8K monitor to use WeChat.

    • +2

Rightfully so. You might get spied on. Apple can't handle the litigation more so tahn the app

  • Too cheap to be true.

  • Good price. will easily last 4+ years without any issues. (if you can keep your storage usage in check 😁)

  • -1

can't be true, too cheap, not interested in the cheap deal.

  • +2

I hate the weight of this phone it's just too heavy. 240 grams is too much to handle for long periods of time comfortably

  • This one or 13 pro?

    • 14 Pro Max or 14 Pro

  • I want to buy one for my Mrs. She is currently having S20FE. Her B'day is coming so not sure go with 13 pro or Max? Can't ask as have to be a surprise

    • 14 Pro Max.

Based on the pre-order selling result so far, 14 Pro Max is doing the best, 14 Plus is doing the worst and worse than 13 Mini a year ago. Might as well go for the best. If budget is limited, 14 Pro.

This price doesn't really make sense for 13 Pro now with 14 Pro going to be available on Friday.

        • Show me a female reviewer indicating Pro is a better option than Pro Max. If he asked which phone he should get for himself, I would have said 14 Pro.

From personal experience, for female family members, 14 Pro Max. They generally carry a purse each.

      • You make your purchase decisions on pre order stats?

    • +8

Buy your wife the 13 Pro.
Her boyfriend will buy her the 14 Pro Max.

      • Amazon has good return policy.

        • +1

Even if I've had her for more than a year?

      • +1

No problem. You twisted my arm so 14 pro max it is

    • +1

If her FE is the 5G variant why change? It's such a great device I don't see any value in changing to iPhone pro or pro max

  • -2

    Iphone 14 pro 512gb gold.

  • +1

Still waiting for a 13 mini deal :(

    • +1

Back order $1,036 for Iphone 13 mini star light 256gb right now

  • +1

    Does anyone want a kidney?

    • I like it. How much??

  • Do a Google on the share apple has in the Australia mobile phone market. I never would have guessed it was 57%…. As a long term Android user I'm going back to iphone now since my disappointment with my p6pro. Let's see if I love or hate life.

    • +1

You didn't know? iPhones has had a larger market share here for a long time. That's why we were in the first set of countries to get new iPhones over the past years (also why Japan is in that list (also >50% there)). It's partly why we have less Android choices here.

That said, I don't get this it has to be iPhone or Android. I just carry both. It's OZB so why just restrict to cheap iPhone or cheap Android deals. Both camps are copying each other. Obviously, if you are deep in Apple's ecosystem, then an iPhone makes more sense.

For a few years, the cleaners at my office had better iPhones than the one I was using. That's how ubiquitous iPhones are here.

      • Just switched from Android to iOS. Annoying I have to buy apps again.

    • Probably due to all the subliminal suggestions of Apple as children…including "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" lol

  • -1

Should increase the RRP to15%-20% more to attract iCustomers.
Top end Realme, Oppo, Vivo just works fine for average users.

    • +1

My top end Vivo was $1350 few years ago. It hasn't aged very well. I can see why people are switching to Apple. An iPhone 11 pro from that same time runs miles better than my Vivo.

    • +1

The top end Oppo is $1799 at JB Hifi (although 256gb).
You can also still get cheaper iPhones.

Out of all things people waste money on, I think their phone is the most reasonable thing to splurge on. It’s always with you and you use it constantly every day.

  • +4

Apple removed the 13 Pro Max for sale from their website since it would eat into the the market share of ther regular 14 Plus which is arguably inferior (shares the same chip, no 120hz screen and no telephoto). Understandable to axe a model from a few years ago, but to get rid of the model from last year really highlights how minor the improvements really are (and they know it) .. Reckon if you were waiting for the regular 14 Plus just get the Pro Max - you'll be much better off

    • -5

In reality, no. iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max will struggle to sell (or already struggle to sell). That's why Apple removed them from the site. iPhone 14 Plus, so far, has pre-sale figures even worse than iPhone 13 Mini one year ago. All those phones are in the same boat. The price bracket is in the high end (or close to high end) phones.

14 Pro and 14 Pro Max review embargo already lifted and some reviewers had early access. iPhone 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max and 14 Plus won't retain value well (in Australia).

Improved camera performance (including low light), better battery life, best OLED screen (for the first time, Samsung provided better OLED screen than just matching Samsung's flagship like before). While the dynamic island is somewhat gimmicky, it does allow better multi-tasking.

    • iPhone 14 Plus is targeting those who only need bigger screen and battery without other extra Pro features. But 14 plus price is too close to 13 pro max on promo.

Also Apple mentioned 'An updated internal design delivers better thermal efficiency, so you can stay in the action longer.' on their website. They may add something like vapour chamber inside or just getting back to single layer motherboard due to the extra internal space for the plus.

Will check the teardown videos later.

  • +1

Wait for next month telstra day at least

  • iPhone 14 Pro reviews have just hit YouTube, so it might be worthwhile for the few interested in this deal to check them out

    • -4

There’s quite a bit of substantial upgrades from the 13 pro 256gb to 14 pro mainly the A16 bionic processor which is great for 120hz gaming as well as the larger screen real estate.

Going to upgrade it as the 13 pro is already obsolete and overall feels overweight with the bulging camera compared to the slimmer 14 pro.

Also the 13 series will continue to lose 30% of its second hand value in the next month.

      • A16 is like same as A15 but more efficient. And please, when it comes to performance A15 will easily tackle the hardest games for many years to come

      • Going to upgrade it as the 13 pro is already obsolete and overall feels overweight with the bulging camera compared to the slimmer 14 pro.

Uh you might want to keep your 13 Pro:

        13 Pro
        146.7 x 71.5 x 7.7mm
        204g

        14 Pro
        147.5 x 71.5 x 7.9mm
        206g

  • 1.6k for a previous gen phone? Crazy!

    • not so crazy when you have guaranteed updates for at least the next 5ish years - something you cant obtain for android unless you get a pixel. This is a flagship phone, flagship phones sit around the 2-3k range so to get into one for this price is actually pretty decent.

      • +1

OS updates is just a masked thinking because you paid such a premium in the first place. You can buy 3 good android phones for 1800$ once every 3 years(600 each) and on each generation get latest hardware and OS updates - thats 9 years of updates. Think of all the shit that can go wrong if you lost/damaged your expensive phone and had to pay 1.6K again!!!

Also considering Android phones gets new features much sooner than iPhones - there are plenty including always on display that makes getting an Android phone every 3 years better than buying 1 expensive phone. My mum has a 340$ Poco X4 pro 5G that takes photos as good as a iPhone 13/S22 with its 108MP camera - though its not a speed/video monster, beats iPhone in certain departments.

I am not saying you need to buy a cheapo phone, but 1.6K for previous gen is not a justifyable price. Also you lost an years worth of OS upgrade already.

        • +1

A solid 50% of the reason you buy iphone is because of the OS. A $600 android phone is not gonna last 3 years and I bet that this iphone is going to have a better camera system than a $600 android phone released in 6 years time. $600 every 3 years for a sub par quality android experience is not the killing blow you think it is lol.

          • +1

@doobey1231: Technically, the OS is the limitation on iOS or the iPad OS. I own an MBP 16, iPad, Windows gaming PC and Android phones. A 350$ android phone with a 5000mah battery is gonna last 5 years easily if you dont worry about security updates 3 years after the phone is released - I am yet to come across a person whose phone was hacked because he didnt recieve security updates even after 5 years tho. But thats a different story.

As I mentioned earlier a 350$ android phone can take photo as good as a iPhone 13 - watch this link (videos may not be as good) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKuO3S-XHNU&feature=share&si…

And that was a 350$ phone. A 600$ phone will be miles better. Also a 600$ phone today, will not give you subpar quality if you think that way. In most department, it will be as good as the iPhone if not better.

Also the 350$ phone comes with a 67 watts fat charging brick, while a 1.6K iPhones comes with nothing ;)

            • @John Doh: Your argument makes the case that there is no place in this world for an expensive Android phone. iPhone is not an android anyway, the buyers are completely different. And for the nth time, its the implementation that counts not a feature per se on the spec sheet which is what android is about anyway. Not the experience but the spec and you can see it even in your own argument.

              • @dealsucker: People buying iPhones are no different than people buying android. For most people, its a show off thing rather than ecosystem. But then they get tied to the ecosystem eventually.

I agree features coming on iPhone seem more polished, but they come several years later which is a bummer IMO.

            • @John Doh: That looks worse by a long shot lol. Along with that there is a lot of features that may come first to android but end up being horribly implemented(see faceID vs other facial recognition hardware). Android does it first then apple does it better thats how its always worked.

              • -1

@doobey1231: Yes, apple does it better, but that wait is horrendous. You need a iPhone 14 to get always on display. Not even this 1.6K phone can do. And as per the person below, this phone cant even take 4K videos because its 128GB?

And regarding that video, for 340$ I paid, its got 6.7" 120Hz OLED display, 5G, 5K battery, FP sensor, expandable memory, comes with 67W charger and what not. And other than video and very low light pic, the guys himself says that he prefers the photos from x4.

My point is that, it was 340$ i paid, not even 600$ and it does not evenhave gcam ported yet.

Even 2X900$ phones is still a batter choice IMO.

Again, am not against Apple products. Some of their products are good. I own them myself. But those phones are overpriced for sure. That was my initial argument. And that 5 year upgrades wont justify the cost.

                • -1

@John Doh: Not 4K video, only 4K Pro-Res video and it makes sense if you knew that 1 minute of pro-res video takes around 6GB of storage space. None of the android's do pro-res video by the way, even the most expensive one's. And the Pro-Res video's from iPhone are absolutely astonishing and there's large difference in quality even considering the already benchmark quality video's that come out from the iPhone.

                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC7mT6GubfE

iPhone is a tool that works really well. And if you use it as a tool, rather than comparing meaningless specs on paper, its an almost perfect bar phone. Not that it matters, but a lot of creators are actually using iPhone as a back up camera to create their professional video. Ask them if it really matter to them that another phone has a crappy oled screen which consumes a lot of power, isnt color correct, doesnt get too bright but is 120hz! Afterall a screen is only about refresh rate sarcasm

And I dont think Apple or anyone else buying/using iPhone's is looking for your validation. I dont care whether you like them or not, it does not make any difference to me what so ever.

                  • +1

@dealsucker: The argumens are not made to know if some one cares about it or not. People still buy whatever they want. Its just priorities. I just put across my opinion like everyone else :) - Peace!

    • -1

A previous gen phone which kicks the latest gen android's all around (performance, battery, screen, longevity, customer support) and will be supported for longer than the latest gen android's.

  • +4

OZB fellas hate every iPhone, but every iPhone sells like hot cake, name a more iconic dual.

    • +1

It’s not hate in every case, it’s ridiculous pricing.

      • +1

For you personally. 57% of the people buying iPhone's in Australia disagree, of the other 43% people buying expensive android phone's also disagree.

  • +6

128gb model should not exist on a phone capable of 4k footage, for someone that isn't aware it could lead to a pretty disappointing experience.

    • +7

Forget 4K, 128GB shouldnt exist on a phone priced this high.

    • -1

pretty sure they thought the same thing and its why it is software limited to not allow 4k on the 128gb model

      • Really? so this thing cannot do 4k?

        • What you need to know
The 128GB storage option of the iPhone 13 Pro is limited with ProsRes video recording.
That configuration can only record ProRes video in 1080p at 30 frames per second.
The 256GB and higher storage options can record in 4K at 30fps.

      • +1

        4K Pro-Res not 4K Per se!

    • Exactly these tards are only screwing them selves over with 128gb option which doesn’t allow 4K Pro res anyways which is the main selling point of the 13 pro max camera.

Better off buying the new 14 pro series anyways, still considered cheap even after the inflation increases

  • Is it gone?

The price is now at $1847 :(

  • +1

iPhone 13 Pro Max 256GB at $1499 is the price to wait for I reckon. The 12 Pro Max 256GB did drop to that and then to $1399 eventually.

    • +1

Wait for Telstra day. May have good deal.

    • how long did it take though years after the new phone drop or couple months?

      • +1

After the 13th gen was launched, it took 2-3 months for the 12 Pro Max 256GB to hit $1499 and 7 months for it to bottom out at $1399, hence the sweet spot being $1499 @ 2-3 months post official discontinuation.

  • Still using my iphone 6s + (works fine) only replaced the battery once since i got it in 2012 so it's been great value but the screen has recently shattered and it is getting a little dated now, was considering getting the 14 pro but the esim and the facial recognition is off putting…Not into giving away my facial data as i know how it can and will be used as we move further into this globalist dystopian future most seem blissfully unaware of. I will be switching off 5G on any phone i get for obvious reasons, Smart Cities = Dumb people but i digress…Can Facial recognition be disabled on the 14pro or is the 13pro the better option to stay somewhat under the radar? Price is fairly irrelevant as its a long term purchase.

    • +1

eSIM is not a problem for us here in Australia. The phone still comes with a SIM tray.

      https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT208108

      https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/data/en/face-id/

      • Thanks, yeah i just noticed that so that's a positive and i'm pretty sure i can disable face ID in options and just use a pass code…but will wait till it's in people's hands here before i make a decision.

    • You could never be sure that the phone isn't scanning your face or that 5G is truly disabled. Software toggles are largely meaningless.

Are you sure you want to live with that risk?

      • I weigh up the risks and i know security and privacy is really just smoke and mirrors these days, all you can do is try to minimize your digital footprint (one reason i don't use any reward cards) and talk gibberish to confuse algorithms…they say Quantum computing doesn't really exist yet but Countries like Estonia are openly working on Quantum Antivirus etc…like i said its all smoke and mirrors, the public have no idea how advanced Computing has become behind the scenes and then there is the 'Relay' the TRUE cosmic internet that has been kept hidden from us since the early 60's. I know most on these forums think it's all "Conspiracy" but since when was the truth ever accepted by the majority without scorn and ridicule. Water off a ducks back for me. ;)

  • The color and price are both gone.
