105w 3060, no mux switch, 45% ntsc, averages 246 nits, 40ms gtg. All for 2k? Aint a deal really. COD is an intel promotion that most other brands can also redeem.

    • $2k for a bulky, ugly laptop with a junk battery doesn't seem that great to me.

For example, those kraken (Intel nuc based) from last year were much lighter, had qhd 165hz ips screens, almost double the battery, full 130w tdp 3060's and cost under $1500..

      • I initially read it as $1486 and thought "Well that's not a very good deal". My mouth dropped when I realised the 4 was actually a 9 lol.

I see nothing good here really. Ignoring the desktop machines which Im sorry but 2.4 grand for a 3060? In this day and age? Lets have a look at the gaming lappy deals:

Katana GF76 3050 for 1761$, 3060 sku for 1986$. With low powered 105w (albeit 3050 sku is full powered), no mux switch and a screen thats all too horrible - 45% ntsc, averages 246 nits with 40ms gtg response times as according to notebookcheck.

Crosshair 12700H+3070 2399$ 12900H+3070 2849$. Display is good, and full powered 3070 (140w), but still no mux switch, the same bad cooling with all lower end MSI machines, coupled with the full powered gpu means the fans work overtime to cool the machine which leads to terrible fan noise-57.9 db at extreme mode and 61.3 db at hyper cooling mode. Also keyboard that burns your hand.

GS66 3080/12700H/32gb for 4124$, mux switch and good panel in one, 105w 3080 8gb, but for a slim machine it doesnt have the weight advantage of other competitor models (IE zephyrus/razer blade) and doesnt really held up much in the gpu aspect because of the low wattage, a similiar 'slim but heavy' alienware x15r2 with 140w 3080ti 16gb can be had for 4.3k with the dell eBay 20% discount every so often. Decent CPU performance on this machine though, can check jarrods review here

GP76 3080 is about the only acceptable deal in here for $3674, 150w 3080 8gb, but a similiar specced GP66 was 3049$ a month earlier so I dont know how much deal are you really getting unless you liked the 17' form factor but then again you can grad an external monitor for far cheaper. Speaking of external monitors, cant see the monitors here having competitive pricing for specs compared to any of the deals posted on ozmonitor lately.

I guess its probably expecting too much from JB Hifi to have actual deals.

Yeah, JB is one of the last places I would ever look to buy a laptop from.

      • Kinda sad when a 25% discount is still more expensive than other places. The markup in JB is insane.

To anyone look at these deals n wanted something better:

Katana GF66/GF76 - Kraken x15(intel x15) 11800H+3060 130w mux less 1499$ albeit no windows activation. Can also claim COD bundle.

Crosshair - if a legion sale dont come soon, Dell G15 5520 12700H/3070ti 150w-with mux switch is 2199$ with the regular dell ebay 20% discount. Average panel on this one but can fix with one of those ~300$ monitor deals.

GS66 - I would wait for a zephyrus/legion slim/razer blade sale for a much better 'portable gaming/content creation machine'. Or the X15r2 mentioned above if somehow you liked the slim & heavy and packs a punch forte

    • machines which Im sorry but 2.4 grand for a 3060? In this day and age?

At this time of year at this time of day in this part of the country?

  • Is this a good laptop? I have a $700 jb gift card I was going to put towards it

How long are you planning on using it daily and how many years do you intend to keep it? Biggest problem is the screen here. 15.6" 1080p for ~2k is meh, but be more mindful of OLED burn in.

Wouldn't buy a laptop at JB unless I got a steep discount in store from a staff member.
