  • Run up a tab with grog included
Money ran out very quickly last time
    Lucky to last a month

    • You have to purchase at least one food item in your transaction for it to be valid for claiming. Can't be drinks only.

      • I guess that's why it's not called the Drinking and Entertainment Program

        • It almost can be if you just open a tab, order a bowl of wedges then add on the drinks!

  • +3

The number of the Dan !!!

Is there an election coming up or something to justify this?

    • +1

Nah, it's just business. $25 million fund is not that much for a state like Vic (and nothing compared to the money already spent due to the pandemic) and it's going to generate a way more than the $100m income for business owners and ATO.

  • Can be claimed on the Royal Melbourne Show

  • +1

Anyone got a confirmation email after submitting your entertainment claim? Submitted 3 claims with no email comfirmations for over 24 hours…last round it was within a few minutes

    • +5

Submitted a claim around 21:00, yesterday

The claim was approved by 24:00.

      • +1

Thanks. Must just be my luck then..

        • +4

In this round if your claim is approved automatically, it will be instant. You can check the status immediately after submission and it will show up as approved. The approval email will only come after a few hours though.
If your claim needs manual review, my guess it will need a few days at least.
So far all my receipts valued below $250 and are machine readable and contain all required info are approved automatically. I have another one that is $400+ was flagged for review. YMMV

          • @truetypezk: Not for me it’s not 🤷🏻‍♂️. It is an Uber eats order where I picked up but not delivered. It should qualify l.

            • +3

              @GoldStar: It doesn't qualify.

The following are not covered by the Victorian Dining and Entertainment Program:

              • food ordered through a home delivery company (such as UberEats, EASI, Providoor, DoorDash, Menulog and Deliveroo).

Doesn't matter that you picked it up.

              • @kerfuffle: Per the condition noted on their website clearly notes:

"A receipt that contains a charge for delivery will.not be eligible".

                Below is from their website:

The following are not covered by the Victorian Dining and Entertainment Program:

                gift cards and vouchers
food ordered through a home delivery company (such as UberEats, EASI, Providoor, DoorDash, Menulog and Deliveroo). A receipt that contains a charge for delivery will not be eligible.

                • +1

@GoldStar: But it doesn't say eligible orders include where you ordered food through a home delivery company where you picked up. I wouldn't be surprised if your claim got rejected

                  • -1

@kerfuffle: True will be see I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️. The paragraph is misleading then.

              • +2

@kerfuffle: In the last round, all my pick up orders through doordash were approved without issues.

                • @truetypezk: Thank you

                • @truetypezk: That's interesting and good to know! Assuming the receipt is from doordash and not by the restaurant?

                  • +1

@Craze: No I used the restaurant receipt. On the receipt it usually says takeaway/customer pickup and payment method is doordash/account/cash. Depends on the actual store. Smaller stores/shops with limited IT resources may just issue a regular receipt with no reference to delivery instead.
As far as I can remember, TGI Fridays and Sushi Hubs receipt have it pretty clear that it is a pick up order through doordash and both were approved manually without issues.

                    • +1

@truetypezk: I might give it a go too, thanks for the reply 👍

                    • @truetypezk: i place online order for sushi hub pickup and they neevr want to give me receipt, say use the email receipt .. ?

                      • +1

@capslock janitor: If it is a pick up order in person they should be able to reprint one for you on the spot.

                        • @truetypezk: they should.. but they still say refer the email confirmation

it's like the manager keeps it n don't want to give me copy of paper receipt.. why would that be
(this was even before the rebate iirc)

    • same for me, but it has only been like 5 mins, and i didn't note down the claim numbers :(

    • Submitted claims Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday I got an email acknowledging receipt. Thursday I got an email acknowledging receipt and a second email later that night advising it was approved. Tonight, did not get an acknowledgement email.

  • Out of curiosity how long do you think will this last before the budget amount is dried up?

    • +2

Last round the claim website mentions roughly how much available is left to claim. I wouldn't be surprised if the funds are exhausted quick this time.

    • It will be gone in no time lol. They didnt even impose the Mon-Thu rule this time. Get in quick I d say.

  • Can we claim entertainment tickets which were booked before 19th Sept but to be used after (& before December)?

    • +1

      No.

      • -1

        source?
it was a sporting event so that is not covered anyway as per t&c. Any other 'should' cover if the event is within the specified dates.

        • +5

The FAQs. Pays to read them.

        • +3

          lol easy cowboy.

          Refer to this https://ibb.co/vBg4y8W
It specifically asks you for the ‘purchase date’ and not when your supposed event is meant to be.

  • Gotta love election years lol

    • Food and Electricity $$

    • You make this sound like this was the first time they did this. It's been happening for sometime thanks (or no thanks) to covid.

  • Claim process was a bit different this time. They didn't ask for ABN. How long is it taking for it to be approved? Previous round it was almost instant

    • My approval took a few hours to come through after submitting yesterday.

    • I submitted a few over the last week and haven't heard anything back yet!

      • Well, my cashback just came through!

  • +5

Thanks very much for the post !
Won a trip from WA for the AFL Grand final, included a $400 gift card for rockpool , got a tax receipt and just got approved for the cash back.
Free money on free money. :-)

    • +1

      Very nice!

  • Submitted two invoices and only received the confirmation email for the first invoice, so i submitted the second invoice a second time, next morning the first invoice got rejected because reason of duplicate, what a mess.

    • +2

why is it a mess when thats on you. you rushed to resubmit instead of just waiting a bit longer. people have been saying it can take a while

      • Agree part of it is on me but what they should have done is reject the second claim, not the first one. Now I don't even know which one is pending approval or not.

  • spend $500

  • Does anyone know if bakeries are covered under this like Bakers Delight or Woodfrog Bakery? Does not explicitly say it does or does not under the guidelines.

    • It’s technically take away food so I would give it a go.

    • Or ask the bakery staff,
Surely they’d know and it doesn’t affect them so they’d probably be encouraged by it.

  • -3

    1) Buy $500 worth of movie tickets
    2) Submit the claim and the get it approved
    3) Cancel the movie tickets

    Would this work out? :)

    • +2

And what would be your reason for cancelling the movie tickets?

      • +1

        Reason : I am a trash person,

Movie cinema companies don't allow cancellations anyways

  • Has anyone claimed klook receipts for zoo tickets?

  • +3

Funds running out soon, everyone with their dogs are out there spending like crazy, won't last tonight i reckon.

    • Wow barely a month

  • Any one able to claim events from Ticketek? They don’t issue tax invoices by default and it seems that you have to log a support request with them which I’ve done and just waiting.

Anyone successful just claiming the ticket confirmation email?

    • +2

From the form, don't see why they would reject it

Yes, in a previous reiteration of this promotion. Claimed for Harry Potter and Hamilton

      • Thanks! I’ve submitted it!

      FAQ for Entertainment says

A confirmation email could be accepted as proof of purchase if it shows the business name, purchase date, business location, items purchased and transaction total.

      • Awesome - Thanks cheers and submitted!

        • Let us know how it goes. Same as kerfuffle above, partner claimed harry potter last round

          • +2

@ShouldIBuyIt: I received ‘your claim has been approved’ email. I sent a screen cap of the whole email including purchase date, itemised tickets (had 2) and the final total. Didn’t include the actual ticket hyperlinks privacy reasons!

            Thanks all!

    • +1

I emailed Ticketek and they sent me the tax invoice last time.

  • +6

OMG its ended. Piles of receipts waiting to be claim :(

    • +2

Ooft. Lucky I put in my four claims over the weekend as soon as possible after I left each restaurant

      • +2

Good choice. Was thinking to claim after school holiday. Never thought of it gone so quickly.

  • That was quick! Only managed to claim twice so far.

  • +1

i haven't submit any receipt and it's all over.

  • +5

Dan said the program would run until the week before Christmas, or when the funds run out..
The program only lasted 14 days, $25 million already gone, like a fart in the wind

  • what a big joke…it is already expired…

  • +3

What were you guys with the receipts waiting for. I did mine immediately after getting the invoice. Literally takes less than a minute. Why wait

    • agree but i was thinking that the last rebate lasted way more than 2 weeks so I have time to do it after school holiday.

      • +1

Last time was just after lockdown and people were cautious about going out.

    • +4

Exactly! There was no restriction on days of the week, part of Melbourne/Victoria, VIC resident or not! I'm surprised it last this long.
Most of the money would have been claimed for drinks at bars with the help of "bowl of chips"!
Having said that, this was a waste of tax payer's money under the current situation.

      • +1

Also dining and entertainment were combined this time whereas they were separate last time

  • Wow only 14 days. Too many Ozbargain professionals here.

  • +2

Funds gone like that! Compared to last time which lasted much longer because the City of Melbourne council area was excluded, could only claim food ordered Mon-Thu, higher amounts of covid, heading into winter etc. Only managed to put through 2 claims!

    • +3

IMO they should have restricted it to week days again, when businesses likely need more of a helping hand to get customers in

      • if that means i could have more time to claim, too

    • +2

I was in Melbourne Friday to Sunday and managed to put in four claims.

      Gimlet is definitely worth trying.

  • +1

Made my last claim for the last few cents on Sat. And it's over already this morning.

Don't know why people are not claiming immediately after each transaction.

  • I thought it would run out quickly and it did.

What was unfair though was the promo kept on saying please check the website to see how much money is left, but there was no counter.

I made 4 claims totaling $500 soon after spending it. 2 have been paid and 2 have been approved but not yet fulfilled (I expect that they will).

    • +1

You were claiming the maximum ($125) x 4?
      No wonder others missed out.

      • +2

Sorry, I should have clarified I claimed for $500 spend.. but would be paid $125.

I would be able to claim for $2,000 over my family no problems over a couple of months like I did earlier this year.

I wouldn't feel bad if I could claim more.. it's people like us who regularly eat out and support the industry with or without the rebate. I still think it's a waste of taxpayer money but happy to make hay while the sun shines.

  • nnnnooooooooo I had a $100 bill to claim that I didn't do yesterday and now they closed :(

    • +3

Yep it went crazy fast. Probably they should have limited to weekdays yet include all Victoria.
Burnt money which probably went mostly in drinks

  • how soon do they pay? Mine has been "approved" instantly since 28th Sept, but no payment

    • As per the e-mail you would have received, up to five business days

  • back to food delivery deals now
