    Artisan Stand Mixer $495.20

    Good deal for artisans…

  • +1

A good price, hasn’t been this low for a long while.

  • +5

    Kitchenaids are like Ferraris
Should be bought in any colour as long as its red.

    • I thought Kitchenaids are like lambo and SMEG is Ferr >"<

      • +4

        SMEG is more like Fiat

        • +3

          smegma

  • KitchenAid isn't as good as they claim to be. If you are doing regular baking or heavy duty stuff at home, better off with a commerical planetary mixer.

    • +1

Twice the price or more though?!

      • Yes new they can be more expensive, however if you are willing to look for the right deal, a used planetary mixer from a bakery or other similar commercial setting, these devices can be found for sub $500. They also have they added advantage of having been serviced by technicians and will last you 30-50 years if treated correctly. My grandmother has a commercial mixer that still works to this day purchased in the 70s that still works to this day. I'm not saying don't buy a KitchenAid, but have a look at Kenwood etc as KitchenAid quality control has gone down in recent years as they've become more popular

        • +7

I dont think your grandmothers mixer can be posted due to insufficient stock.

    • Care to elaborate?

      • Sure - the motor on any consumer grade mixer just isnt designed for repetitive use. Typically planetary mixers such as kitchenaid sit in kitchen as display luxury items (much like an expensive coffee machine that you may have splurged on. On the other hand, commercial grade mixers, are designed and built for repetitive starts and stops, having a significantly longer rated life cycle.

    • How about some suggestions that are closer in price.

    • I don't know about others but I never use mine to make bread which seems to be the common "heavy duty" work most are likely to do. In which case I doubt it matters for many people at all.

  • bought one, thanks

  • Almost no colors available.

Peter's of kensington ebay is $525 with more colour options

    • that's 10% more than this deal.

  • +1

I'd get this if only they included the stainless steel tools as default, instead they sell it separately and only include the shitty coated ones that probably won't last in a dishwasher

  • Pro is below 800. Good price too.

  • +3

    Now $479 / $467 after discount. Sadly bought @ $482

    • me too. What can we do about it? Should I return it or ask them to refund the difference?

  • 300W motor vs Kenwood 1000W - Kenwood is the Ferrari, Kitchenaid is the Hyundai.

Im thinking these are better buys

    $399 - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/kenwood-chef-stand-mixer-kvc3…
    $649 - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/kenwood-titanium-chef-baker-x…

    • +1

The wattage is not the be all and end all
Kitchenaid is direct drive, Kenwood is indirect drive
Kitchenaid more grunt and less wear.

    • Unsure who negged you but Kenwoods are very reasonable alternatives for KitchenAid, certainly as far as their modern iterations go.

  • bought at $495… and now see the KSM150 at something like $430 after discounts. It says too late to cancel order. Chatting with kitchenaid was not helpful. What can I do? Return the item perhaps?

    • pretty much the extra bowl is the only difference between the two as far as I can see

      • Yes. Worth returning the KSM160 i bought 2 days ago at a highe rprice and buy the KSM150? Or i have to just cop the loss.

        • seems like they don't cover the return postage from their return policy

          • @sicaboy: damn. How much would postage usually be? Wondering if I can decline on delivery…

  • Just got my NEW kitchenaid KSM160 delivered. Is it me or is the build quality suspect? The bowls have dents, discoloration and scratches in them and smell awful like industrial metal.

    • Similar here. The made quality is not good, a metal ring wasn’t built properly. I use force to push that in place.

      • I think kitchenaid tried to pull one over us by sending us repack / refurbs rather than actual new ones. I can see stains… dents, and one of the plastic stickers covering the logo is cut.
