Personally waiting for it to come down to around $6K, like the 83" C1

    • Or G2 in $7K range

    • If you could buy this TV at $6468 would you.?

      • If now, yes!

Holy cow! $7 as a discount for a TV. What is the RRP?

    • I don't know about you but I can see there is about an $800 difference in an already discounted BL price https://www.binglee.com.au/products/lg-83-4k-smart-oled-tv-o…

    • +1

      RRP is $10,999
Most retailers $8,495 click and collect (since 1Sep22 when LG Australia increased the retail sell-through rebate)
      $7,690 delivered is not a $7 discount.

Can I please have a seat in your time machine?

      • +11

No but you can have a ride in my sarcasm speed boat.

        • Take my money!

        • Not once you add $55 delivery.

            @[Deactivated]: TGG is everywhere.
If you're regional you'll have to pay for delivery no matter who you choose.

            • @Techie4066: Yes, TGG is well-represented in most cities. I have a couple within walking distance of home.

But not everyone has a vehicle with capacity to carry a 55" TV vertically, let alone an 83" monster.

Our largest car is a RAV4 Hybrid. A 55" will JUST (vertically and horizontally) fit behind the front seats. An 83"? Not a chance.

My point is that saying a deal for a bulky item INCLUDING DELIVERY is more expensive than a deal for the same item excluding delivery is not a fair like:like comparison.

Good price - I'm definitely in the market for this size/quality, but interested to see what happens to prices when more QD-Oled and Micro-LED come onto the market.

    • Prices will still follow the same trend.

    • Are those meant to be a step above OLED? When do they get released?

    • There's consensus that (Samsung's new) QD-OLD trumps (LG's) WRGB OLED. Would be reasonable for LG to drop WRGB, given that they already use QD on their LCD panels.

    • Micro is sadly a long long way away for consumer models being reasonably priced.

The first 2 or 3 will be "amazing, but crap!" because of dumb stuff like no 120hz or HDR being wrong or you know, something dumb like that. So you need to not only wait for them to come out but for them to then iron them out and make them a good consumer product.

My prediction is at least 5 or 6 years before it's considerable :(

Only politicians and drug dealers could afford this…it's dearer than my first car!

  • I think Black Friday should have better deals, although this is a good price.

I have the older HDMI 2.1 85 inch Sony X90H.. I need that size for my theatre room. If this TV was closer to $6K when I was looking, I would of snapped up, but at this point I will wait until the OLED tech drops in price before upgrading, too soon for me! Give it 5 more years and OLEDs will come a lot closer to current LED prices and with better OS.. Nice TV though and good price for 2022.

    • with better OS

Amen. All this investment in panel technology and then the experience is ruined by the UI/OS.

The house we recently purchased was decked-out (as part of the sale) with Samsung TVs. I cannot believe how bad (sluggish, unintuitive, ad-heavy) the user interface is. It's genuinely horrible compared to the ye olde worlde LG C7 (OLED65C7T) which I kept for my games room.

  • What happened to Laser TV?

    • +1

Laser TV is a projection technology. I heard it was good but then went to a JB HiFi store and saw something playing on it and it looked pretty poor compared to both LED and OLED options. Unless the store machine was not configured correctly, I'd say this technology was probably doomed from the start and I don't know why the manufacturers brought it out knowing this. OLED is the way forward now, with panel production moving from 1 to 4 manufacturers and it also being the expected high quality level product for computer monitors and mobile phones now.

      • Any projection system wont compete with self lit pixels but size makes up for it though right?

  • Deal 🤣
