Over rrp and has increased $40 since you purchased? Cant see the bargain.

    • +2

Almost impossible to get a Yellow at $799 SRP.

      • +2

But does that make it a bargain?

        • As I said, it's almost impossible to get a Yellow so paying more to get one will sound a bargain to Weber enthusiasts.

          • +1

@JaxSantiago: I guess buying a new car at a premium because they almost impossible to get makes them a bargain too?

            • +1

@Herb Utsmellz: Is the "new car" a Limited Edition release too? That may sound a bargain to car enthusiasts then.

  • Was one of the lucky ones to get a green in Aus.

  • +13

Im a proud and satisfied user of the Weber brand, but that is one expensive kettle.

  • +6

That seems like a ridiculous price for what you get. Where is the value?

    • +4

only perceived value, if you like collecting them.

    • +1

      It says Weber on it

    • +5

I guess there's value if you're some idiot hipster content creator and need something that matches your old VW Kombi and vintage tablewear when you're doing a video about the right way to BBQ tofu

Otherwise just get a Kettle from Australia that'll actually get local support.

      • +2

Lol you think an idiot hipster can afford this or a kombi? It's all retired boomers.

        • Balding, overweight, generation X men with disposable income are fans too…

          • @choodi: Hahaha definitely

            • @Cheaplikethebird: Just like the meme says…get to a certain age and you have to make the choice:
              * get deep into military history
              * get deep into smoking various meats.

I made my choice, and it sounds like maybe you did too.

  • great looking kettle, but damn thats expensive.
Are these essentially the same as the $500 black ones ?

    • +5

Yes. But these are limited-edition yellow or blue!!!
Colour is the first thing I look for in a grill.

      • color is also something i look for ….preferably black so that you can’t see crap after years of use ……there is a reason black is the normal color of kettles and bbqs ….so you don’t waste your leisure time cleaning them ….

  • I just don't get the hype on these. Call me basic but a black kettle with replacement wood handles from 'Wood n Handles' looks the best IMO. I get it if you're a collector though.

This reminds me though, better get on a list for the next GA drop.

    • +3

      A collector? People collect these?

I'm still trying to determine if I'm reading that price correctly or if I'm in fact dyslexic.

      • Yes yes they do. You should see what some people pay for the classic rare Webers

      • You know the little Weber Go-Anywhere that sells for ~$130? A blue one was released in limited numbers earlier in the year and they're reselling for nearly $1k.

        • Here I was thinking collecting belly button lint was strange 🤪

I expect to see a weber for sale on ebay with the good ol "RARE" in the title.

    • There won't be a GA colour drop for a while.

The DOB was a mistake shipment.

      • True. I read a comment that there was a red due out but probably a gee up then?

        • +1

          Yup. Rumours only.

  • +1

Deals like this one make me happy as I got a black Weber Premium Kettle 22" from Kogan for $221 in April 2021.

    • Yep. Have learned different ways of smoking meat on that.
I bought the rotisserie for it, makes smoking Boston Butt so much easier.

      • I was walking down pretty much the same path as you did.

      • You're smoking Boston Butts on a rotisserie???

  • +2

I shudder to think what this site has become. First PS5 for above RRP now this. Call in the stewards for the love of god.

  • +2

    Sheer stupidity.

  • not a bargain, and probably warranty issues

  • other than the anniversary design, is this any different from the ones selling for a third of the price at Costco previously?

    • +2

As far I can see it has a slightly different grill (with an insert), wooden handle and fancy logo around temperature gauge.
I really doubt that all this stuff will make your steaks, brisket or pulled pork taste three times better.

      • Makes for a better view while you sit in front of it for 14 hours with your mates and a few beers though

  • There's two down the street sitting out for hard rubbish, and supercheap auto are sending out vouchers to buy some yellow enamel for free…just saying!

    • Rescue them!

  • +1

As much as I love Weber stuff, $800+ for a charcoal kettle is a bit much.

  • Any recommendations on a cover?

    • +2

These bad boys live inside. No cover required.

    • +2

You're going to take it out of the box?

      Insane.

      • Yes it's out the box, and outside.

I don't have this exact model, same size and design. Think it was $400 from memory.

        • Mine sits outside in the elements permanently with no issues. I did use a cover at one point but stopped when I pulled it off after a couple weeks of sitting idle and the kettle was full of mould.

          • @Cheaplikethebird: Mould 🤮🤮

Not happy with mine, Its only 2 months old and the lid thermo has water inside. I went to bbq place I bought it from, he said they don't stock parts.

            • @Bretttick: Call Weber Australia, their warranty support is pretty amazing, they'll post you out a replacement. FWIW I would ignore the lid thermometer and grab an Inkbird IBBQ-4T and use that instead.

              • @Cheaplikethebird: Thanks I'll give Weber a call. I don't use the thermo but was annoyed water got inside.

  • God I hate the clean-up on these things - admittedly mine does not have the fancy ash catcher. I spend a good 30+ minutes after each use getting all the ash out, dripped fat cleaned up, and grill plates scrubbed back.

    • +1

Scrape. Oven cleaner. Hose off. Win.

      • Not sure I've got a suitable place in my yard to hose out the over cleaner short of killing grass/plants. Don't particularly want it going out in to storm water either. What's your cleanup time in total?

        • You can use Simple Green (concentrated version) instead which is a non-toxic/biodegradable degreaser, grab it at Bunnings. Personally I just sweep the ash out between cooks, give it a hose out every 3 cooks or so, then every couple of months give it a good scrub with Simple Green.

        • I let the Chem soak in for a cpl hours while I go do other things.

  • does it has wifi ?

  • Are these made in China like all the other Weber products now?

    • This one is apparently not. They went back to their roots

  • +1

My last weber was from hard rubbish. Replaced the grill and it was great. Now thats a bargain. Always see them dumped on hard rubbish

    • +1

This is the way - I have 4 webers - all found on the side of the road

      • one weber i bought ….have spare from hardwaste collection , only thing missing is the charcoal holder ….i can see the issue for people if shifting to small accommodation and his s much space a weber uses ….

  • Be aware that these will be missing the charcoal baskets and Smoke ring.
