    flood season

    What?

    • Been asleep the last few summers?

      • -2

Besides a few specific, isolated events (southern QLD, northern NSW, western Sydney) there's been nothing remarkable…hardly a "season", less so considering summer is traditionally bushfire season.

I'm not sure where you are based but I'm in Sydney and we've had rain just about everyday since Feb. So yes even with the tongue in cheek reference to flood season, this or any indoor trainer is very beneficial ATM.

Specific isolated events? Does the entire continent need to be under water for you to consider it flood season?

There's been billions of dollars in damage, tens of thousands of people lost their homes.

Just because it didn't happen to you, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

We are in a La Nina year, and possibly will be next year also. This is a measurable flood season, and keep an eye on things in the next month, it's about to happen again.

          Have a good one

@sbcbakedbeans: How are they not specific & isolated / localised events? Some areas are prone to flooding, moreso if near to a watercourse. I've never heard the term 'flood season' applied in the Australian context.

In case of flood, this is cheaper and more useful:

    • My line of thought was more about how an indoor trainer would help during flood season if your whole neighbourhood including your house is flood-prone?

Price beat at 99bikes for additional 5%

They've already got the core at $1099

Hopefully the recently announced Zwift Hub Trainer will be available in Australia soon. Either way, I think it could shake up the whole smart trainer market pricing.
If you are in no rush to purchase/upgrade a smart trainer, it may be worth waiting to see how things play out over the next few months…

    • This is why I love this site. Many thanks.

    • You can just buy the Jetblack now for $799:

Zwift is rebranding it, not making their own. It's more competitor to the Kickr Core than the V5 though.

      • it's slightly different from the Volt though, has better disc brake clearance and easier setup.

    • no dates on AU release though

    • The Kickr V5 on offer here is a more high-end trainer than the Zwift Hub trainer will be. The Zwift Hub competes with the lower tier Kickr Core, not the Kickr.

yep, but Core is also on sale and mentioned in the deal for $1,099.95.

        • Helps if I read beyond the headline :)

  • Do these still have incompatibilities with newer carbon frames?
Back in 2021 these were rubbing and chipping away at the frames. So I never went though with buying one for my bike.
Wahoo were ment to make an adapter or something?

Showing at $1499 for me. Am I missing something or is the 1299 offer finished?

    • Seems to have gone back up somewhat.
