Ozbargainers take the 901 to Broadmeadows and train it in.

Was just going to post this. Would never pay for that overpriced Sky bus.

      • Just took SkyBus today. Is 901 a bus from the airport?

        • +3

Yep, you walk to T4 carpark (not far) to the bus bays. It just uses Myki. Get on 901, it take 10 mins to get to Broadmeadows train station, from there just take the train to where you need to go - ie back into city, then change lines etc. Whole trip on a day fare/2 hour fare.

          • @placard: Wowza! Just spent $32 on return fare today.

@placard: Good tip, thank you. Will be in Melbourne for a weekend in a couple of weeks so will do this!

            • @Heybargain: If you have Google wallet, can set up myki for free on phone (NFT) and add credit - rather than purchasing a physical card.

    How's this a deal? $2 off an overpriced fare… I'll pass

  • Can't wait for this service to die when the public transit link gets built.

Was already overpriced at $15, then it went up to $18 now its $20 each way…just ridiculous for a 20 minute drive

Not to mention the 3 month expiry on return tickets, if you are travelling near the 3 month expiry (say you travel 2 month and 2 weeks from purchase) the other half of the ticket expires on THE SAME DAY.

So I came back from a holiday, and found my ticket was now invalid as the expiry had passed during my 2 weeks away.

  • How much is uber from the airport to the city? We are 2 persons and I reckon uber would be about the same as this?

    • +1

it's still cheaper. but if you're leaving early and need to still come into the city via transit, then you're usually better off just calling a ride. Might set you back $40-$50 but it's direct with no trainsit
