Asrock AMD RX 6800 Challenger Pro 16G OC $759 + Delivery ($0 to Metro Areas/ C&C) + Surcharge @ Centre Com

410

Payment Surcharge (1.2% Card & PayPal, 2% AmEx) of A$9.11, bringing the total to A$768.11. There is no surcharge for AfterPay.

Read the comments bellow to get a jist of what is believed to be good value going forward, I for one don't consider the NVIDIA 40-series as a real value comparison. The RX6800 originally launched in Nov 2020, there was not an RX-XX50 mid-gen variant update for this card.

Wherever this card lands in value, the 16GB VRAM should do well for length of viability, making the total cost of ownership better than most of NVIDIA's offerings. Centre Com have a decent reputation as a local store, having plenty of locations.

      Pfft! Rocking a GTX770 here!
Well set out post - thanks.

        rx 570 still going strong

        • The RX570 was my second previous GPU, followed by the 1660 Super & 3050.

Unfortunately my Gigabyte RX570 had to be RMA'd during the pandemic shipping times and I chose to get a 1660super for $350 in 2020.

The 3050 is a laptop while the 1660super is a Plex transcoder. The RX570 is accumulating dust, but it was great for A$199 with two brand new games.

Definitely getting an RX7000 when it's on sale in 2yrs.

      • Amen, me too

GTX 8800 GT still going hard

    • I have a 1080Ti. The rest of my PC is new, a few games have frequent crashing issues. So I'm tempted to get an upgrade soon… Will see what happens in the next 6 months with GPU prices and grab something that can play games in 4k 60+ FPS.

      • +2

I'm still using a 1080 (at least until my 3080 arrives on Monday) but I can't recall a single time a game crashed so I'm not 100% sure a new GPU will fix your problem.

  • As a side question, how is it even legal to apply surcharges to the listed price? That makes even physically impossible to buy the item for the listed price. Smells like Aldi.

    • +3

not illegal but probably breaking the TOS they have with the credit card companies as they are not suppose to pass on the fees to the customers

      • +5

Pretty standard, many shops can and do pass on transaction fee to the customer. I believe they aren't allowed to make a profit on the fee, which is what used to happen.

    • +3

If there is an option to avoid the surcharge (which there is here, because of zero surcharge for Afterpay) then it's not illegal to have additional charges.

Where there is no option to avoid an additional charge, it has to be included in the price.

    • I’m here right now - omg imagine

    6800XT's have sold for $750 :)

Why did you upvote deal with such solid evidence that this pricing is not great?

      • +3

I like AMD :) .. i ignore Intel or Nvidia products for the "less consumer friendly business tactics over the years" .. This is going back to 1996 :) so long time fan of the AMD and ATI products

    • +2

      That was with Afterpay tho

  • +3

Bzzzt, not even a deal, as said above.

  • +5

Not really that good of a deal.

Anyways, 6800 is between a 3070ti and 3080 in terms of raw raster performance for those wondering.

  • +2

Waiting for another sub $1000 deal for a 6900XT and I’ll bite.

    • +6

10% performance increase for a 30% price increase? 6800xt is looking like a real sweet spot for performance to price right now.
