Buy 1, Get 2 Free - 3x Xiaomi BT Temp/Humidity Monitor $19.95 (OOS), 3x 18W Charger $14.95 Shipped @ Electric-Unicorn eBay

660

This eBay seller currently has a few offers on Xiaomi with one of them being "Buy 1, Get 2 Free". You can select any 3 products from this link and get 2 items free based on the lowest price.

For example buying 3 of the Xiaomi Mi Temperature and Humidity Monitor sensors will set you back $19.95 AU stock delivered. Making it excellent value compared to my recent Hekka deal shipping from China.

Edit: Temp/Humidity Monitor out of stock, Charger still in stock.

These monitors will display the current temperature/humidity and can be linked with other Xiaomi smart home products via the Mi Home app. It also has a "baby monitor" mode where it will send you an alert through the Mi Home app when the temperature and humidity go too high or too low.

For those who are into tinkering there is a custom firmware project for this too.

New seller? Seller only has 11 feedback items in their profile.

  • Does this need a bridge to connect to wifi

    • Nah these ones connect directly via Bluetooth. Some of the other sensors in the link will be Zigbee and require the hub.

    • +1

I’m think I have the same model as these.

If so, then there is no wifi. Bluetooth only.

You can get a separate Bluetooth hub, to enable polling and push reporting. Otherwise, you need to connect to the sensors each time/on demand to get readings.

They do provide a rolling history (3 months) of reading, which is handy.

Battery life is excellent. Mine lasted for 6 months of continuous operation on a single battery.

      • +1

will any sort of bluetooth hub work or do i need something specific? any suggestions on what to look for?

    • +1

You can integrate these directly with Home Assistant using Bluetooth integration (works well ok rpi for me).

  • +3

I also flashed mine with new firmware https://github.com/atc1441/ATC_MiThermometer

    • +1

What's the advantage of the custom firmware for something this simple?

      • +3

Not being reliant on Xiaomi activation, and I found better battery life when being monitored by Home Assistant.

I'm also moving to using these https://esphome.github.io/bluetooth-proxies/ for integration with Home Assistant as the existing range using a USB BT dongle is crap.

        • Interesting thanks. Do they still work with the Xiaomi app though? Any other apps you use to view the data? I use mitemp2

          • +1

@fufufu: From memory they do, I stopped using xiaomi app these days :)

        • I found the opposite. All my Xiaomi ones are still going and the custom fw died 4 weeks ago.

    • +1

I've moved to this firmware instead

      https://github.com/pvvx/ATC_MiThermometer

      • looking at it, I actually posted wrong link - I'd moved to the pvvx fork too!

  • Thanks OP! Just ordered, new seller but lets see how we go. eBay are banging on about their guarantees in advertisements lately.

Side note: Doesn't anyone know if it's at all possible to get Google Assistant to reply with the temp reading with the above monitors or these

I wish these used AAA or AA. The button batteries seem too wasteful.

Pro tip - don't buy cheap button batteries off ebay, they last 1-3 months each from experience and these are not devices I like to change batteries that often in. That said you don't need to buy the expensive $5 each ones either, I've had good everience with the supercheap ones, got 8 or 10 on special for $2 and have been going 6 months no problem.

  • I bought 4 of these recently from ali express for $30. This is a slightly better deal.

Panmi is an Australian importer of the Xiaomi Aqara stuff, I believe.

    • Xiaomi wouldn't dropship from some random AliExpress seller. Especially one that's US$17.90 for 3.

  • The temp/humidity monitors are tiny. You've been warned.

    • +3

      Why are bigger ones better?

      • +2

I didn't say they were good or bad. Just that they are surprisingly small. The display is like the size of a 20c piece

    • I bought one, its great. Want one for every room but OOS already

  • I think they have run out of the temperature and humidity sensors :(

When I click on them on the main page it just shows me a list of other items.

  • +2

The real question is who would pay $20 for one. These things are sent out free with cheapo led lights for growing 'vegetables'. I chucked one in the fridge to make sure it gets to the right temp.

    • +3

You'll have to give us a link where these cheapo led lights provide Bluetooth temp/humidity sensors that can do a lot more than a normal dumb reader.

  • Oos

  • That's a great price for the Wireless Button switches i.e. 3 for $24.95. I recently bought x2 for $9.95 each from PCbyte and thought that was a great! Very handy little switches as one can assign 4 individual functions to each (Single, Double, Triple and Long press).

    • I was conflicted between them and the light sensors. Then the light sensors went OOS 😅

      • +1

I got 3 of the Buttons for ~$20, including $5 ebay code.

        Thanks OP!

      • Haha, know the feeling. I didn't spot those there.

I grabbed a (Light Detection) at PCbyte with the button switches. They were $11.95 at the time and now $14.95. No idea what I need it for but grabbed regardless to play with!

        • I have a very dark shed that gets like no light at all. I was hoping to use it like a motion sensor for security. Notification when light is detected.

          • @Clear: Yeap would work but why not just use a Motion Detector instead?

            • @Borg: The Xiaomi ones are prone to false positives. The latest Aqara ones allow you to change the sensitivity.

              • @Clear: I only have a Sonoff one. Never had a false positive and use it to turn on a light, but once a week it would drop off HA and had to be reset each time. They (Geekbuying) replaced it and is fine. in turn consider reliability as 50/50 :-) No way to change sensitivity though and time out is a long 120 seconds.

            • @Borg: The motion ones only take light measurements when motion is detected. The light detection/illuminance/lux only sensors do continuous monitoring of light levels.

The xiaomi ones have a wide range of light detection. I've got an el cheapo Tuya in the bottom of my mailbox that only does 0-1000lux, however when it goes to 0 light from the usual 400-500 lux, I know there is mail in the box :) (it's time sensitive so doesn't trigger at light). I've put some foil on the top of the mailbox to amplify the light in the box itself which helps on cloudy days.

My xiaomi lux sensor is monitoring ambient light in a room so when it gets dark inside (nighttime or cloudy days), it automatically turns on lights. It's sensitive enough that I can tell when blinds are open or closed, too.

          • @Clear: It will work for that, my mailbox one can tell when the mailbox door has been opened due to the fluctuation in light being received.

    • Dam out of stock on the switches. Got a link to the pc byte one? Thanks

  • If you have a Zigbee hub i find these excellent. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001883823325.html

  • These are inaccurate
I bought 4 and all had different temp in a range of 5 degrees

  • these constantly DC from my rpi4 wouldn't reccomend

    • Sounds like a possible Bluetooth issue on RaspPi or method of connecting the devices?
I have x 11 and all have stay connected for close to a year now (using HomeAssistant). They have been are rock solid

      • oh really? I find the sensors on my dashboard frequently drop out - I'm on the stock fw though - you on stock?

        • No, i updated mine to use.

          • @Borg: Will give it a crack cheers

          • @Borg: Alright - took me a while to figure out you had to set the id to BTHome but now that I've done that they haven't disconnected so - pretty stoked

    • +1

Mine were rock solid using rpi3's inbuilt bt - do you have a zigbee dongle on you rpi4? If so, it on a usb extension cord? If not, you could be affected by rf interference

      • Good point there. I use both a USB Bluetooth and Zigby Dongle. Both have thier own USB extension cable. Not long (0.5m) but enough the keep them away from PC. Makes all the difference, especially rangewise.

  • +1

Wow I got all the way through paying with paypal for the chargers and it said item not available in this quantity

gone back and both of them are listed as sold, never had that happen before, rip

    • Seems that their store has nothing at all for sale now…

      • haha oh boy! They were either extremely popular and OzBargained or dodgy? I did get a Aus Post tracking number for my order however. The item isn't with Aus Post yet but a start!

        • OzBargained

          This is correct.

          • @Clear: Yeh I thought as much! Thanks the great deal!

  • I ordered some chargers tonight as part of this deal, probably a couple of hours ago

  • -1

Who would pay $20 for one? They aren't worth $6 each.

    • Who would pay $20 for one?

No one paid $20 for one. Feel free to recommend a better alternative for $6 each.

  • Refunded. What a scam

  • Received, but no battery inside them?

    • Definately not normal as all mine came with batteries by default (various orders, different suppliers). Will be interesting to hear if others here receive without batteries.

    • Mine just turned up today with no batteries as well. The boxing looks new too, far larger than my previous orders. Might have done a redesign?

      • What model shows on the rear of box above the CMIIT Should be LYWSD03MMC?

        • Correct, LYWSD03MMC is the listed model number. Interestingly, it has a Battery Type line which lists: "CR2032 (Not included)".

Edit: Flashed PVVX's ATC Firmware fine with no problems.

Without checking the PCB itself, it looks like they're just shipping them in different packaging without the coin cell batteries included now, and an extra thick booklet for the user guide. The box also has English and Cyrillic (Russian, I'm guessing) on it rather than the Chinese translations. I'm betting this was a seller dumping a lot of stock they couldn't sell in Russia onto other markets, hence different packaging and no coin cell battery.

          • @S11: I have seen these advertised as "without battery" option and usually cost more…..perhaps they have to open and remove? Maybe for countries that don't allow any shipment of batteries?

            • @Borg: These were 100% sealed packaging wise. No signs of tampering at all on my three units. Some countries don't allow coin cells to be shipped as far as I know though. When I was buying from AliExpress I'd frequently get things without the battery, and the seller would note it as a customs requirement. If they were removed, it may be something to do with these ACCC laws. But there was no double security seal stickers on them, and the printed packet does say no battery, so who knows.

I'm still convinced these were destined for Russia or a surrounding country originally and have just been offloaded here given the Cyrillic on the box. Australia is fairly well known 'dumping ground' for older products or products which are hard to move, and the eBay store has run out of everything with no signs of new items coming soon at all.

              • @S11: Yeah and is what I noted i.e.* I have seen these advertised as "without battery" option and usually cost more *.

I am guessing this is what was sold here however would have helped if it stated this on the Ad (no idea if it did). Batteries are cheap, however not good without having any on hand in advance. I'd have been a little peeved had I purchased any and received without them!

  • Got 3 of the temperature and humidity sensors, but unfortunately they require a hub which wasn't clear in the eBay ad.
Also, there's a slot in the back which, on other devices, is normally rotated to remove the battery cover. However this appears to do nothing other than chew up the slot, so I can't see how to access the battery

    • They don't need a Hub, they are Bluetooth. You can use the Xiaomi App or alternate methods like adding to HomeAssistant if you use.

Battery Access = Easy to remove the whole back using the slot on the bottom and gently lifting and then using something like a credit card to pry around the remaining sides (to save damage). Don't use the slot on the top as that is to allow air inside.
