  • VoIP add on is $10 a month.

Better to go with a third-party VOIP provider, for two reasons:

    • Can be significantly cheaper, e.g. Telecube @ $3.95/month. Cheaper plans are available if you read Whirlpool.
    • It's easier to change your NBN provider when you don't have to change your phone(VOIP) provider at the same time.

Southern Phone only offers nbn 100 for my address(HFC ), I can get 1000/50 from other rsp.

    • Can confirm, my HFC NBN1000 address is only eligible for NBN100 with this provider, looks like they don't have HFC-1000 capability.

  • Curious to hear about other's experience with Southern Phone. This price is cheaper than the $109 100/40 plan Aussie BB charge atm.

    • nbn is very much a "you get what you pay for" situation. They're cutting corners somewhere to offer this price.

      • Yep, you need to see how peak goes & customer service.

  • I was with them got 700mbs dl speed. I left them due to 6month discount was up.
I call to see if they would extend and they wouldn’t so i left for leaptel.
Now might go back to southernphone again lol.

Check out MyRepublic, $99 for 1000/50 for first 6 months and then $109.

Not sure how Telstra can get away with charging the same amount for 100/20.

      • I'm with MyRepublic and have had no issues whatsoever. My NBN was moved from my previous provider within 30 mins of finalising my account (and on a Saturday afternoon). My speed is phenomenal and little to no lag at all.

      • Telstra gets away with lots of stuff because they have the retail presence and the marketing budget. Isn't MyRepublic just Optus wholesale?

and old boomers propping them up

I had myrepublic but 250 300 mbs dl compared to southernphone speeds at 700mbs download

  • Apparently its what AGL NBN uses… Not particularly good comments over in whirlpool

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/35qwy613

    • AGL owns Southern Phone, that would make sense.

  • And here I am on the other side of the digital divide rocking my FTTN max line speed of 70mbps :(

    • Same, FTTC is marginally better. Not that much. Street next to us is FTTP and many others, we got the short end of the green FTTC map stick.

  • I used southern phone for a week. Had drop outs almost every morning
