nbn 500/50 (FTTP & HFC) $62.99/Month for 6 Months (Ongoing $92.99/Month) @ Dodo

950

Dodo has a promotional offer for new and returning internet customers on their NBN plans. All plans are no lock-in contract with unlimited data.

NBN 500 plan seems to be a good deal.

Gave up on Telstra. They couldn't apply their 3-month offer to my new NBN account (from the JB Hi-Fi GC deal). Cancelled Telstra (pro-rata charge) and jumped on this. Dodo had me connected within 15 minutes.

    Stackable with topcashback?

    • That's for dodo mobile services right? Not sure if it applies for nbn as well.

      • +3

        50 for mobile.
        100 for nbn.

Have switched, will report back if it tracks.

    • Yup.

This is super tempting. Not sure if BF deals will be better.

  • +2

Tracked with TCB at $100 within a few minutes of order confirmation from Dodo. Hopefully it'll get approved too!

    • I signed up for this Dodo deal 2 days ago via Top Cash Back but it’s still not tracking for me at TCB. Hopefully it’ll show up soon but I’m not holding my breath as their tracking system seems pretty woeful.

      • I did 10 mins ago. Tracked already.

  • +1

    Internet that flys

    • Well it's just the usual Vocus quality. YMMV. Good enough for me at their discount range.

So did the previous basically identical deal ever finish?

Signed up to this same thing and with TCB last month too, auto switched to the 500 like the other companies.

    has the service improved yet?

    • +1

I am not sure about the service, but the customer service for technical issues is poor. Last week I was over 75 minutes in the line waiting to talk to someone. (profanity) terrible the Customer service I wish could be better.

      • customer service always has been bad that's why I asked lol

        • CS is utter crap, I had 2 days downtime speaking to different people and in the end I just needed to change the setting to PPPOE and obtain the username/pw. Didn’t need it before. Can’t wait to get off.

          • @lml: Did you have slow wifi speed on mobile, etc? I am experiencing it since switched to 500 speed. My modem only has DHCP setting. They didn’t say I MUST get another modem or give me log in details to see if I can then change the setting. It is a Belong 4353 modem which handles 500 as PC connected by Ethernet cable gets 450 or better.

      • live chat or call?

I just switched from Aussie BB to Dodo recently due to the lower costs and NBN upgrade. Only had limited interaction so far but I found their customer service to be as good as Aussie BB. Will they be good long-term? Hard to say. But so far they have been good. And if they aren't then in 6 months I'll switch back.

      • +1

when I did have NBN with Dodo it disconnected more and they wouldn't honour certain promo discounts so I left after a month

        • I figure that will be the case eventually. I had the occasional disconnect with Aussie BB, but that was FTTN with a bad copper run. This is FTTP NBN so it should operate the same regardless of provider, except if Dodo decides to do something dodgy to limit my connection. In which case they gave me a free upgrade and I wil provide them no loyalty at all.

  • Can you "price-match" NBN plans with other providers lol

    • TPG do this but they take the cost over a 12 month period.

      • Drimtel seems to be a good alternative with some good people there

They may price beat but force you to sign up first before submitting the price beat claim

We’ll beat any price from an Eligible Provider over your first 12 months on eligible nbn® plans. Submit a claim within seven days of signing up to get your price beat offer.

I recently got upgraded to 500/50mbps FTTP from 50/5mbps FTTC and I gotta say my family and I have not noticed any difference.
The only difference I see is when I download a large file, other than this, we can have someone on Netflix while the other is watching Youtube videos and everything is the same.
Videos play with the same initial buffering time of about 2 seconds. When web surfing, pages load no quicker than when we had 10X less speed.

    • +1

Yep, that sounds about right for a domestic experience in 2025 with serviceable mbps speeds. It's the large file download/upload where you'll really see the difference.

    • +5

Could be that your router needs an upgrade too.

      • The router and modem was upgraded with the new FTTP plan. I also made sure to read and follow all the instructions when installing the new router.
Our desktop NUC, TV and PS5 devices are connected via ethernet cable. Of the 5 people in the house, not one person noticed any improvements.
But in saying this, we were all happy with the original 50/20 mbps speeds (not 50/5 as I accidentally stated above.)
The reason I upgraded the plan was that the new faster plan was $5 cheaper per month! So I'm not disappointed.

    • +1

Could be a number of issues. But your limitation is most likely at the router. If you're using wi-fi then that's most likely your bottleneck. Even if you have a brand new, top quality router. If you have an incorrect setup, heavily lined walls, devices causing intereference, lots of water around. All these things can cause a bottleneck for your service overall. Or you could just have a bad router or incorrect settings on the router than are restricting your connection.

      • +1

The old router and the new FTTP recommended router were placed in the same spot. I did not change any of the default settings, the router
was mostly installed by my internet provider. There was no bottleneck as I've checked it multiple times on Ookla speed test and the
service is operating at optimum speeds for both my old and new service. I'm not disappointed with my service, I was just pointing out
that if the original plan is working well you can't expect to notice a big difference in speeds except for downloading/uploading large files,
or if you have a household that has multiple bandwidth hogging devices running simultaneously.

  • Any issues with cancelling Telstra early and getting pro rata refund? The gift card deal said minimum spend $99 so don't want them clawing back the gift card…

  • +2

Is it worth waiting for Black Friday or is this good to jump on. Last year got around $60/65 for 12 months with Superloop

  • Wondering this exact thing.

  • +1

Looks good, 500/50 for $63/mo with $100 cashback, making the churn from Buddy 50/10 $75/mo.

Maybe surprised this hasn't gotten more votes comparing it to other NBN deals - is it the customer service reputation of Dodo?

    Thanks OP.

  • Seems like a decent deal

  • Swapped over and only getting 250/25 instead of 500/50. Is there a reason? Has the upgrade for NBN 250/25 not happened yet?

    • Have you had free NBN fibre upgrade ?

      • I have. I got it a few years ago.

        • Double-check the plan you're on or contact them.

  • Pulled the trigger - thanks OP :)
Even after existing provider's clawback fees, I'll be ahead at least a couple hundred dollars!
TopCashback tracked it fine. Last time I used topcashback, I had to raise a missing cashback claim, which went through after about 3 months.

  • +2

    Lol dodo
after 6 months your aligned with every other NBN services price wise but with slower speeds

  • +7

I signed up with them 1.5 months ago and its been absolute hell.

    • 5x txt chats to get CG-NAT disabled. Kept saying it was done but was not working.
-Signed up with 'Automatic upgrade to 500/50 on October 1st'. Contacted them on the 8th, they said it will happen some time later in the month and they couldn't do it sooner. FINALLY switched over on the 24th October.
    • Can only get about 250mbit down and 17mbit up on the 500/50 plan. When the NBN guy installed FTTP he said the connection should be good for 2Gbit.

Im currently downloading a ubuntu iso and its going at 5MB/sec (50mbit). Its pathetically slow. My 50mbit FTTN nbn with Leaptel felt faster than this.

    • +1

Just to update - switched to Superloop 500/50 ($95 cash back, $69/month), and am getting 460 down and 38 up. Feels faster.

      • +1

I'm getting 550/48. You may have to get a new router. What is the brand and model number of the router?

nbn FTTP current maximum speed is 2000/500.

        • +1

Connected via ethernet cable. 2.5gbit managed switch, running through a pfsense firewall (linux PC with dual NICs), wired to the nbn router.

I'm assuming the slow speeds were just other devices on my network doing things when running the test.

  • Hi OP, just wondering how you could get prorated when cancelling Telstra. I contacted different customer support and also on the terms conditions it said there is no refund for remaining days of the billing cycle

    • My plan statt date was yesterday. Not sure if that was factored into the rep's decision.

      • Update: Though the agent mentioned it as a pro-rated refund. I have been issued the full amount that I paid.

  • I’m with TPG now, do you guys need to give 30 days notice to switch over to Dodo? Cheers

  • Can someone confirm quickly, if I switch from Belong - can I use the Belong Modem with dodo internet?

    • +1

Got a Belong 4353? I switched and all was good until going to 500 speed. DHCP internet connection cannot be changed to PPPOE or IPOE. Both Dodo and Belong tech support tell me to talk to the other one.

      • +1

DHCP is the same as IPoE for the WAN connection.

The Belong 4353 CPU probably isn't fast enough.

        • It is fast enough, can handle 800 odd mps. Weird thing is 2.4ghz speed is mid 40s near modem, 5ghz lucky to be 6.

  • +1

Not expired. It's extended to Offer ends 2 Dec 2025

  • +2

I'm with Origin, just called them up to 'threaten' to cancel, they offered me $77 a month for 12 months 500/ 50 speed NBN (which i'm currently already on and it's exceptionally fast).

Total cost would be less than this offer and I'm an existing customer - if you're new to Origin you'll get an even better offer. They also give you a free eero 6 modem which is the best modem I've ever used.

Highly recommend Origin for anyone interested

    • Oh and it's no lock in contract, just a discount applied to my plan

    • Origin has been great in terms of speed. Was with Origin before moving to Telstra and switching then to dodo now. Yes, new customers will get a better deal.

I'm thinking of switching back to Origin (possibly as a new customer), but it all depends on how Dodo's customer support and speed perform this first month.

    • Even with the $100 cashback from TopCashback?
The eero 6+ modem is also not free - it's based on a 24month term. If you cancel your service before the 24 months is up, you have to pay a clawback of $6 per month remaining on the term. There's also a $20 delivery fee for the modem which isn't covered by the '$0' offer.

      • You're right about the $6 per month clawback for the modem. However when I joined I got 6 months half price ($49 a month) and now I'm on 12 months of $77 a month for the 500/50. That would only leave 6 months remaining if I were to cancel a the end which is a total of $36, and I'm sure they'd give me another retention offer if I asked at that time.

I also received 25,000 Everyday Reward Points when I joined which is worth several hundred dollars if converted to Qantas points and redeemed for flights. So if definitely worked out well for me at least.

Most importantly, I've been with three different providers at my current address. The other two (TPG and Telstra) had constant drop outs and inconsisent download speeds. Origin has been absolutely flawless from day 1, and the modem takes literally 10 minutes to setup because it copies your existing SSID and password of your existing router so there's no need to reconnet any of your devices again, they'll connect automatically (I have 50+ smart devices and lights so that was a huge bonus for me).

  • Do they use CGNAT and can you request to opt out of CGNAT?

    • Yes they do and you can request to opt out but take a long time for them to process.

      • How many days?

  • +1

    signed up thanks

  • How long ahead can we connect with Dodo, would anyone know?

    • I checked the website - 30 days I believe it is. If you try to sign up today the latest date you can select is 28-Nov.

      • Thanks mate. 🙏🙏

The building I’m currently living in has multiple providers offering deals with similar speeds but multiple months completely free.

I’d get it if they were only available with lock-in contracts, but they all seem to imply that the customer is free to churn at any time.

So I don’t get it. Like, how can that be profitable for ~Frito-Lay~ the ISPs?

    • I'm so intrigued at what someone could have replied and then deleted here.

  • Perfect for people coming off of the 12 month Superloop promo from last year December.

  • How been Dodo support so far? Any notice required when moving out?
