MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 Intel LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard Black $259 Delivered @ BPC Technology

240

Best price I could find for this board recently. Has flash button so you can update BIOS to support 13th gen intel processors without needing CPU installed.

I'm upgrading my 8600k to a 13600K and don't see a need to go to DDR5 just yet when my DDR4 still compares well. Z790 doesn't really offer anything I'm interested in so I opted for this board.

PC parts picker gave me the warning message about bios update required for 13th gen intel with my b660. Chatted where i bought it, and the guy seemed to dismiss there could be any issue. Installed and worked fine.

I think it depends on how long their stock has been sitting around. Some boards you buy might have an older BIOS revision installed. I think with this board you need the BIOS released in July, so it might support the 13th gen without needing to flash.

with the imminent launch of z790 i'd say z690s will drop fast.

I bought the WiFi version of this board from MSY for $299 last last friday, and preordered an i7-13700K from PC Case Gear. Should have pre-ordered from MWave instead for free postage.

Hmm good tip on the free postage, though their 13600KF is $10 more than other places it still might work out cheaper for me as I need postage anyway. Shame it releases on a Friday so we'll be waiting till the following week to get it.

have the wifi version of this board and have had zero issues.
z790 doesnt look like its going to provide that much more features so still a good pickup (especially on more mid-range end with DDR4)

  • So tempting. This or the tomahawk?
    TIA

  • Is there a good place that sells good motherboard bundles? It's so confusing trying to create a package on my own.
