around $165 on eBay when applying code

    • Which code?

    • or $165 here

      • +1

        What the neg for?

        • +1

          It's cheaper elsewhere.

          • -6

@sween64: If you buy from Boost directly, you might be more likely to be able to use it as an existing customer.

It's still $20 off from Boost direct, just because it's cheaper somewhere else doesn't mean it's not a deal.

Some people might want to order from Boost directly.

            • +4

@checkingthisout: Perfect use of a neg - informs people to be aware.

              • -4

@afoveht: I posted the other cheapest deal, and provided links, negging doesn't make anyone aware, putting my effort into posting the deal and linking to it does.

                We don't agree on that.

                • @checkingthisout: It seems you're taking it personally but it's just a forum of opinions.

just because it's cheaper somewhere else doesn't mean it's not a deal

I think most here would generally disagree if all the sellers are local and have good history.

edit: fair enough, I just re-read the post and saw you did link the other deal, but really, it sorta makes this one redundant. Doesn't change that negs are a good way of raising awareness.

                  • -4

@afoveht: Why would I take it personally when I wrote in the blurb "I dunno about Boost anymore, is it a deal?"

But when it comes to getting a renewal, this Is probably the best way to save $20. Someone else posted a different deal down the bottom, no issues with that.

Negging cause It's cheaper elsewhere is just dumb.

Probably wrong, because I've done it numerous times with other deals not direct from Boost.

                      OK

boost is brilliant, especially if you don't need much data or 5G. I use home & work wifi so havent had an issue with running out. For me, $15/month is a great deal, especially when you can claim a % on your tax. Keep in mind if you continue that it will cost $200/year. Also currently there is no roaming at all, so that can be a dealbreaker for some

Wifi Calling works whilst overseas. I was also receiving SMS whilst in New Zealand even not connected to wifi.

      • +1

That is different to what it says on their own website. Glad to know it can work, aill give it a try next time, thanks

Correct, Sweet doesn't say when or what plan, so best to think they're incorrect and follow what Boost says.

          • +1

@checkingthisout: It didn't work for me when I was in Fiji a month ago. However I think it did for my partner. I have a funny feeling they aren't consistent with their account configurations. I would definitely suggest that any Boost customer should assume that global roaming DOES NOT WORK as per the info on their web site.

          • @checkingthisout: Last month. Boost $200 recharge. CIS

      • Agree - I even used wifi calling on a cruise ship somewhere in the middle of the pacific. Was brilliant - could call and receive just as normal - just had to have wifi (but used a mango to share with the whole family)

    • Can you clarify claiming a % on taxes?

    • Boost has 5G too; I'm on it now. I believe it is capped to be slower than Telstra 5G, but it still considerably faster than any other network besides Telstra.

I bought one for $140 off eBay a few years ago, recharged at $140 afterwards after talking on chat with them.
When is Optus or Vodafone better than that?

  • +1

This SIM is regularly between $146 and $165 - unfortunately $180 not a bargain.

    • Yes I posted another deal for $164 delivered, but some people might prefer Boost direct.

What's the advantage ($16 advantage) of ordering through Boost?

        • -3

If you buy from Boost directly, you might be more likely to be able to use it as an existing customer. It's upto people to decide. What is the point of getting upset because it's cheaper someone else, you're not buying it.

          Someone else might.

You're negging my comments because someone posted a deal? Don't like, don't buy it, it obviously wasn't for you.

Sometimes this place really surprises me how entitled some people are.

          • @checkingthisout: It was genuine curiosity, no need to get upset.

            • -3

@HomebrewFC: You're negging my comments simply for posting a deal that isn't the cheapest, even though I actually did post another deal that is the cheapest, but OK!

    • +1

In this day & age, buying direct through the carrier rather than a third party reduces the likelihood of your name, email and address data being onsold. I bought something recently via AliExpress or eBay that has caused my spam folder to include much more targeted messages unfortunately

  • can you transfer your existing number or you get a new number?

    • You could do both, either port in or get a new number.

  • I’m on Boost, but where I live has a terrible Telstra signal. Without wifi calling I’d be stuffed.

    Vodafone is all the bars.

    • It really depends on where you live, Telstra also terrible in my house, but Vodafone is better, then you get outside and Vodafone get's slaughtered by Telstra in coverage.

Always best to find a free sim and test a network, which you can do with Gomo/Optus, Felix/Vodafone.

    $169.90 here
(https://enjoyebuy.com.au/products/boost-mobile-prepaid-sim-c…). You can Pricebeat at officeworks. I purchased for $150 few weeks back when price on enjoyebuy was around $157.

    • Nice just more choice for people. Boost fluctuates all the time, if you get it for $150ish you just get lucky at that time.

  • $ 165 here at Lucky mobile

You can price match at OW and pay only $ 156.75

    • It says 172

  • Not cheapest
