61

Laptop cooler - I have never purchased one. I was looking for something cheap, this seems fairly cheap for $10 and $1 postage.

  • In my experience with laptop coolers, cheap=noisy but that does have a large 140mm fan so shouldn't be too bad. I can't make out the logo, is it Coolermaster? If so, good price!

    Yep, this is it: http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6647

unless you have it on ur lap, is there any use for it?

Some laptops (like mine) overheat easily during heavy usage - like gaming, and the laptop would shutdown. Since I got a laptop cooler, it hasnt happened. Apparently from another thread, high temperatures are bad the the battery too.

    • It looks very similar to CM's, but I'm not sure it is.

      Logo:
ShoppingSquare: text in small letters across middle of hexagon
Coolermaster: 'Cooler' / 'Master' fill the entire area

      USB:
      ShoppingSquare: 2 ports
      Coolermaster: 4 ports

      • Upon closer inspection, I think you are right. I zoomed the logo and it looks like "Master Cooler" in the hexagon. Must be a knock-off.

    • This is a cooler master knockoff. I own the original cooler master and it does not have an LED. The original one is really awesome. Its able to keep the notoriously hot hp laptops cool.

  • Looks a bit small for larger laptops, & the angle seems too large… Can we vary angle?

Anyway, web site is showing Out of Stock…

    • Not showing out of stock for me.

-Ergonomic design - 5 different height settings to ease strain on your neck and wrist.

  • This might be good for my 5 yr old lappy that tends to get very HOT and makes alot of fan noise. Yes, it is a HP, naturally :P

    SS again.

So we thought they may have gone legit, but they haven't. Remember their scams?

    1) $50 voucher for FB like! Then they offer 5x $10 voucher with minimum $20 spend on each. There was a huge uproar. I never got that voucher and don't know how it ended.

    2) OzB posts every day with cheap or free stuff, or 'vouchers' again. Then with ridiculous shipping, like $15 shipping on a free transistor or something.

    3) Now the new scam. Link to some cheap stuff, OzB it, get a few '+'. Then suddenly up the price (call it limited to x users). If it was out of stock, fair enough, but clearly they are hoping unattentive users will click buy before seeing the raised price.

I remember back in the 90s when Apus was a respectable retailer. So, wait now while the 6 staff at SS neg this comment.

  • For anyone contemplating this beware that the picture on the site is deceptive. Mine arrived yesterday and the picture they have used makes this look a lot like the coolermaster model and it most certainly is not. The one I received is a cheap knock off and the logo on the front looks even less like the CM one than the picture they have used. It does however have a massive cooling fan, LED's and 2 USB ports (one of which you need to use to power the fan, so you really only gain ONE usb port).

It does work as intended, the variable tilt is handy and the fan is very quiet (a little too slow though, I'm not sure it's doing much cooling) and the little removable rubber nubs at the front help keep the laptop in place. I think for $11 this is a good deal but it is a shame it doesn't have more USB ports.
