    • Monthly subscription for the Apple TV+
Apple was offering new iPhone owner free12 months but not sure if that is still available.

  • Awesome thank you OP hopefully the price holds up!

Still seems overpriced for a streaming device with extra features.

    • +4

I agree but it just works and if your in the Apple pie already it makes sense

  • Hey. I recently bought (1 week ago) the Apple TV 4K which has since dropped in price and now replaced with the latest. Do anyone know if Apple will provide a store credit on the difference or any other type of deals for this scenario?

  • +2

Party is over. You snooze you loose

Can you watch mkv and MP4 movies off a USB stick with this.

    • +1

No you can't, No USB ports on the device.

  • And I had to get one last Saturday from Officeworks.

Brains trust, would I be able to return it and get the new one? I had a look at their site and they do say 30 days, but was wondering if OW is generally accepting of returns in these circumstances.

    • Should have bought it. Can always return the unopened one from amazon to OW

      • no serial check?

        • I'm guessing they will? I'm thinking I might just keep it and save myself the hassle.

    • I have returned purchases to OW without issues in the past but unopened box though.

      • Yeah they were great, quick to apply the price beat guarantee as well on this one. I've used it since, and it's been loads of fun so I might just keep it.

  • Thanks OK!

We suck you harder - https://imgur.com/rERBavz

    • Luckily got it for free for 12 months. I would say it’s not worth it. As the catalogue of free streaming original shows is poor. Prime, Disney, Netflix still have better catalogues. And prime had $1 for few months for Paramount + and some other channels.

Two different things. Apple TV+ vs buying a movie from Apple TV

        • +1

John Doh was commenting that Apple TV + is $1 more a month. And I was saying that even at free it’s not been that good.

Damn just missed it. I've been holding off on buying the 2021 apple tv since the rumours said a new one was on the horizon. This might be my 13th reason.

    • Considering the 2021 model went sub $200 a few times (albeit the 32GB 4K model), I'm guessing we might see a similar price in the future.

      • why storages so low? whats it meant for

  • +1

Thanks - I wasn't going to upgrade to the new one - but always love a pricing error and a bargain, and someone in the family will buy my old one. And the Siri Remote now charges with USB-C (not included)

Are these really worth the extra cost over a fire stick 4k max? I got mine for about $59 with a free $20 amazon gift card here in May- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/703184

    • +2

Firstly, I'm not an Apple fanboy. I have some Apple Gear but I'm mostly an Android and Windows kind of person.

I have both the Apple TV and Fire Stick 4K Max.

Both devices get the job done no worries at all.

However, I hate using the Fire Stick. It's interface is awful and not at all logical. Whereas I love my Apple TV. Super fast, logical and with that famous Apple simplicity.

Even simple things like having to type a PIN is harder on the Fire stick.

The price of the Fire stick is brilliant (esp with many deals they do) but the UX is just horrible.

  • Those who missed 64gb is $219 and dunno what the difference is other than 128gb +ethernet

  • damn i missed this… now i have to buy from apple at full price :(

    • Black Friday in around a month - it may have an Apple gift card offer

    2021 Apple TV 4K (64GB, Latest Model) https://amzn.asia/d/h3a54M7

    • This post was for the 2022 model (the newly announced model).

      • +1

Wow, the 2021 64gb "Latest Model" cost same as this "price-error" 128gb and furthermore 2022 model "latest, latest model!"

  • +1

What improvements have they made over the previous models? Other than the remote?

    • +3

The biggest upgrade is this is running essentially the same internals as an iPhone 14 which is a crazy amount of power. Allows Apple to push higher quality visuals in the future. Such as HDR10+ content at higher levels.

  • Looks like the 128GB Ethernet is back for $249

  • What's this latest 2022 4K version have over the 2021 version to justify it's newness?

      • Ahh, minor upgrade. Smaller physical footprint but

    • +1

      iPhone 14 in a box

    • They removed Ethernet on base model

  • +2

Have an older Apple 4k tv, probably more than 5 years old now, thing is a beast. I'd have no hesitation recommending apple tv to anyone, even if like me, you don't own any other apple products

    • -4

You must be hired by Apple.

      • +4

So does that make you Android employee?

        • +5

          Android fanboys are the worst.

    • +2

I concur, have both the 2021 Apple TV (paid $240) and Firestick 4K Max ($79 for 2).
If I have my time again I’d rather pick up a second Apple TV. Much more responsive and smoother to use, even better when you have iPhones/iPad (use them to as remote/keyboard).
Granted it’s a decent price difference, but if it’s something you’re gonna be using for a couple of hours every day for at least 4-5 years, it’s worth the extra imo.

  • Still HODLing my $72 2018 Vodafone TV

    • That’s a a rip off for Vodafone TV. I got two for free via one of the deals.

      • Actually I think I did get it for free too. Actually no paid for it but got like 3 foxtel TV boxes for free

      • How how

    • +1

I still have that too lol. I need to upgrade though to a newer box but the Apple tv 4k is very steep in price. But it is on my shortlist as a potential upgrade option.

  • Now just need a Raspberry pi price error

    • +1

the only error u get for raspberry pi is stock error

  • You will still need to subscribe to apple tv to use it, yeah?

    • not at all. it has an app store. think of it as an ipad for your tv. all the streaming apps and a number of games on the apple tv app store.

    • +1

If you have Synology server, you can set it up as plex server, and download plex app on your Apple TV… stream from there…

      • Alternatively, setup Plex server on a low end PC.

  • LOL Apple (profanity) people who bought with westpac discount.

Newer, better, cheaper apple TV was the reason for that sale.

  • $249 is standard RRP for 128gb WIFI + Ethernet

    https://www.apple.com/au/apple-tv-4k/

    • +1

The price was $219 for the 128GB model at the time of positing. It is no longer available at this price.

  • I ordered but I have all the streaming services already installed on the TV and rely on Kodi, not sure how I can use it.. just asking before I hit cancel.

Gaming wise it would be nice if could stream Xbox Gamepass but I highly doubt that is possible??? Not in the Apple 'ecosystem' either, although the missus has iPhone.

    • If you subscribed to apple one, and in apple ecosystem, this will be a good purchase.

      • Yeah I know it's good hardware, I just can't see that it will be that much use to me… as I'm not a sub to any of their services. hmmm.

        • Your TV software will only update for so long or probably already isn’t updating anymore if it’s few years old. Also does your TV support Dolby Atmos and Vision? You can also set up IDs for different countries to download apps from other countries but with TV software, you are limited to nearby countries.
