Price error. Someone mistakenly put that extra 9 ……. Muzeeb?

  • +4

Probably need to shave off another $250 for it to become attractive, especially when the cheaper variation of this model is coming out soon.

    • +1

      Which model is that?

      • +5

AW3423DWF - $1099 USD RRP I believe. No Gsync, 165hz as opposed to 175hz and an extra display port. The monitor still has AMDs Freesync premium pro though

        • +1

yeah, that would suit me as i dont do Nvidia

          • @botchie: Even for NVIDIA users, as long as there's no issues with freesync

          • +1

@botchie: Perhaps no one will once RDNA3 lands…

            • @drprox: ive got a 6800 xt and g7 32 incher, nice enough and in truth wont upgrade my GPU as yet- as I see no difference from 144 to 240 hz I might as well try and see what OLED monitor has vs current one, Im worried I wont see much of a difference to be fair

              • @botchie: I went into JB closest to me today, to check it out… to see the difference some people have been talking about. Lmao!! They had NOTHING over 27" on diaplay and only 7 monitors in total!! And compared to online shops (i know overheads and wages come in to play) they were sooooo overpriced. Not that i'd buy from them anyway after what they did a few weeks ago with the asus monitor deal…..

This should fix the fan ramping issues some users have been having, I sent mine back cause of it. Random heavy breathing sounds from time to time apparently due to the fans required by the nvidia gsync module.

          • @exe: Heavy breathing?? Is someone on the dark web watching you play??

    • Shave off the 1 on the left side and I will buy it. Too expensive as it is.

I love this monitor. LOVE MY BABY!

Theres at least one on the Dell refurb page too for a hundred bucks less

This will pair well with my imaginary 4090

    • You should buy it and connect it to your on board gfx

  • +7

Damn. I'd love this, but I have a wife and kids…. and they're expensive.

    • +5

      Threat them with this baby

    • This can be turned off :)

    • But if you choose this there will be less noise in your life

      • Not with the gsync fan

  • Is there any cheaper 34 inch or sale

  • My IPS based AW34 gives me sore eyes no matter what settings I use. I assume this OLED screen will solve that?

    • +2

no, you need a blue light filter

      • Oh, I thought the built in Comfort View setting cut out much of the blue light?

        • You just need a blue light filter

    • It's interesting. I'm susceptible to sore eyes from lots of monitors too. I'm still not totally sure if OLED is better, but from my brief experiences I am hopeful.

Do you use dark mode on apps/dark backgrounds on websites? That helps me significantly regardless of monitor type. (Blue light filter stuff is fine but overhyped IMO.)

      • I’ll give it a go thanks.

        • In particular I recommend the "Dark Reader" addon for Chrome/Firefox/etc. It's very good.

This might be so obvious as to sound silly, but have you tried running with lower brightness settings?

I used to blast brightness way too high as it always seemed unacceptably dim to me at lower settings, but it turns out I was just impatient - it only seems dim until your eyes have adjusted, whether that's in a dark or reasonably well lit room.

If you haven't done so already, try dropping the brightness a bit and giving it at least 10 minutes to see how you feel. Of all the things I've tried to reduce eye strain, running lower brightness has helped more than anything else in my experience.

As a side note, I'd also suggest calibrating your monitor for colour accuracy (just chucking in the suggested settings from a review of your specific model should be sufficient), I feel this helps to prevent colours from looking strange or washed out at lower brightness settings too.

      • Yep done all that. Got brightness set at 30% and contrast about 60%.

        • Right, in that case I'm out of ideas sorry 😬 It's possible that OLED would be better due to absence of backlight, but it would obviously be quite an expensive experiment if it doesn't work out.

fwiw I've been using the AW3423DW for a while now, having previously owned the AW3420DW I do find the OLED is easier on the eyes.

I find IPS screens have a "piercing" quality to the image, don't know how else to describe it but it feels sharper on the eyes somehow, maybe that's a factor but who knows.

          • +1

@itscyanide: You're right about the piercing thing. I recently got the AW3423DW and my first thought when I saw the image was "oh wow that's a beautiful soft picture" but not soft as in blurry/low res, soft as in smooth on the eyes…. it's like marshmallows for your eyes. sooo good

    • Reduce the brightness and give more breaks. More importantly get your eyes checked. I had same issues and I needed reading glasses to resolve this.

    • I'd try f.lux first.

  • How we get the 20% discount with dell?

    • +1

      wait for a dell sale

  • Do we think they'd drop the price further in-store? Would buy if it was $1600 like the dell deals (even amazon at one point)

    • Will drop a lot further. Dell were the first to market with QD-OLED, demand is high and they don't have that much competition at the moment.

  • Patiently waiting (many years) for a 27" 16:9 QD-OLED monitor :')

  • no love of dell until they send me that dell monitor i order a mth ago LOL

  • +1

Muzeeb goes on holiday, prices go up. Not a coincidence

  • The deal is over it seems.
The Samsung version with same specs will be out soon anyway. For the price I expect to be able to update the firmware so hopefully the Samsung G85SB can do that.
