1265

I've updated this description to match the one at Mydealz, this what I meant all along, but it was also 10pm at night when I was drafting this. Give me a break lol.

Buy Spotify GC's here at G2A
Buy 5 for Family and 4 for Duo.

Before you start the Spotify instructions, download and activate your VPN
(Please buy credit for Spotify without VPN)
As the German's have pointed out use HideMe for Spotify. You could try another one, but it may not work. Read the FAQ for more.
For me personally, as I've got 12 months free from the Keepsolid deal it works fine.

FAQ

Q: Do I have restrictions on a Australian Spotify account?
A: No! After you have completed the instructions, your account will be Australian again. Everything is available, including audiobooks such as The three???.

Q: When can I follow the instructions?
A: Your Spotify account must have the status Free. It doesn't matter if you use a new account or your old one. You can rerun the manual every 12 months for family or every 14 months for Duo.

Q: Do I have to take 3x 100 BR or is it also possible for 3x 6 months? ( Brazil)
A: It doesn't matter if you take 3x 100 BR or 3x 6 months. It is also possible to gain 6x 50 BR or 6x 3 months. Pay attention to the 24-hour limit. (Brazil)

Q: How many months is the maximum on Spotify?
A: A maximum of 18 months are possible, which is equivalent to 12 months Spotify Family or 14 months duo.

Q: What happens if I charge less?
A: If you charge less, you cannot return to Australia. A conversion to family or duo is then not possible.

Q: How much can I redeem per day?
A: Per day (24 hours) you can max. Redeem 4 codes.

Q: How many people can I add to a Spotify Family account?
A: You + 5 more people are possible in a family account.

Q: Can I also switch to Spotify Duo?
A: Yes, that's possible, follow the instructions and choose Duo instead of Family

Q: What address do the family and I have to provide?
A: You and your family must provide the same address. It doesn't matter if it's your real address or another one from Australia.

Q: Does this also work with an existing family or Duo subscription?
A: No! You have to wait until your family or Duo subscription has expired.

Q: Why not Turkey, Argentina or Philippines?
A: In principle, you can take any country that offers voucher codes. According to my current knowledge, there are currently no Turkish, Argentine or Philippine codes. Payment by credit card is possible via detours, so a change to Australia is not permitted. You are also severely restricted.

Q: What happens after my family or Duo subscription has expired?
A: Once your family or Duo subscription has expired, you will be switched to Spotify Free. All your family members will be from the family or Duo and then also have Spotify Free.

Q: What is the term I have when you switch to the Duo subscription?
A: If you switch to the Duo subscription, you have a term of 14 months.

Q: Do I still keep my playlists if Spotify is cancelled, family members are removed or added again?
A: Yes, your playlists and those of your family members will be preserved.

Q: When I select PayPal (step 19), I get the following error message: "Eita, algo deu errado. Tente novamente or entre em contato com a nossa equipe de suporte." What can I do?
A: Wait 24 hours (better 25 hours) and then try again. In 99% of all cases, this is the solution to the problem!

Q: I cannot switch to Brazil for country and region, I only see Australia. What can I do?
A: Your VPN is not suitable for Spotify. Take another provider. Recommendation: Keepsolid

Q: Can I stay single too?
A: Yes! However, a change to Australia is then not possible. You have to switch to Family or Duo subscription if you want to return to Australia.

Q. Did I test this?
Yes, it worked on my old account too!

Q. Why is it so expensive?
This is yearly pricing, due to Spotify's strict card policy (where you must be in the same country as the card), GCs are the easiest workaround for this. It works out to be cheaper going yearly than monthly, also you'd be spending more on smaller GC than this B$100 GC.

Q.If you have an android just use an APK for Spotify premium.
A. Great, but some of us use iOS.

Q. Just use YouTube Premium.
A. Some of us use Spotify.

Table for comparison of prices cheers to Daanish

I hope this makes much more sense than my previous description

                      • @scupper: It's the same thing. YTM is part of YT, you don't get YTM premium seperate.

I started YT Red family, in Oz went to YT premium in Russian 5yrs ago, moved 3yrs ago to YT Premium in India. I pay ~$3.50/mth for 5.a/c's

If your friend is getting ads, then they're not using an associated YT premium account. I have 5 accounts, they all get YTM, YT adfree, whether it's on IOS, Android, Google TV, Google hub, Google Home, Google Mini or Google Nest mini

                        • @M00Cow: But you're showing you're on YT Premium and not YT Music. There is an increase in cost between the two and all I could see from the official blurbs is that a YT Music subscription doesn't give ads while playing YT Music. Plain YouTube will still give ads.

              • @HamBoi69: Music discovery will be based on music on the region you subscribed so that would be Brazillian music

                • +1

@asa79: Just an FYI. Ive had Youtube Premium/Music since it was launched via India and it no longer shows me local selections. Im guessing after years of learning i am actually not in India it shows me what i like to listen to. Even Top 100 or Top local play lists are now Australian ones :)

Ive also got Tidal via Argentina. Months and months of curating and it still gives me Argentinian options but thats fine.

Over $150 per year for a family for Spotify does seem a bit dear comparing i got both YT and Tidal Family for like $6 per month haha.

We are here to spend money. Not save.

    You are also severely circumcised

    Nasty

    • Restricted

  • Your post says buy 5x 100BRL cards but the cost is only 419. So why not buy 4x 100BRL and 1x 50BRL?

    • You can do that if you wish. I just haven’t found a seller who sells 50BRL GC’s

      • The link you posted also has 50BRL available on g2c

  • +2

Meh, too much work for not that much saving. I’ll just continue to use disposable email addresses and CC and sign up for a free trial every 3 months.

    • I thought about doing that, however you lose all of your playlists every 3 months. I guess you can share it and then copy it over to your new account? What do you do?

      • I generally don't create my own playlists. I just pick my favourite artists and let Spotify do the rest for me.

  • +4

For all that effort, a 30% savings ain't worth it. Better off splitting an AU family account with other ozbargainers in the forums

    • Has anyone had problems with this where spotify ask the family members to prove they are of the same address?

      • Yea, I have family share with a few of my friends. All you have to do is put down the same address as your friend whos paying. Of course they need to trust you not to dox them because its their address :)

        • Thanks i swear for some of us the asked us for proof like upload our license to prove our address are the same. might be because we had different addresses on the account

  • +3

A 30 step process is not a bargain.

    • Correct, and not even cheap, no CD quality lol.
The documentary on Netflix was good though.

  • Solid effort from OP. I use Tidal, but my partner prefers Spotify. If you don't care about quality or downloading songs, you can use this cracked APK from Mobilism, and this alongside the Windows client. You'll need an account for Mobilism.

At these costs downloading a hacked version of the app have much more savings and convenience just download and install, although against their T&C. No need worry about renewal either

  • Numerous countries are cheaper than this - but I guess you have managed to crack the code for Brazil. Seems like people are struggling with payment method and country mismatches for the other countries.

Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, Turkey - amongst the places that are cheaper. I wonder if any of these are easier than Brazil.

    • Yes, it's cheaper but at the moment I can't see how I can pay Turkey's account with CC or GC. The subcription wanting the account to be paid using mobile phone account and I can't get GC from the usual place (G2A / Turgame)

  • +1

Use Tidal if you like. Lossless music plus only around 1.48$/month. Link

    • This.

Can't believe how expensive spotty is especially via these cheaper countries. Thought it was cheaper through India..

Don't even provide lossless (CD) quality but 320 kbps MP3.

  • So it appears that Spotify verifies your region based on the region of your credit card and VPN location. Is there a Turkish (or another country) prepaid Visa/Mastercard that can be used to get Spotify cheaper?

Can this be used to convert an aussie premium account to keep playlists etc?

  • In Philippines $6 per month spotify family

    • But don't think OP has "cracked it" for Philippines. He managed to crack it for Brazil (although it certainly looks complicated lol)

I think India and Turkey are even cheaper btw

  • Hey OP I’m confused. I redeemed the first 3 100BRL cards, and it doesn’t let me redeem more, but then when I go to change my plan to family it says I can change it to family 34.90BRL/month from October 2023. At what point am I supposed to redeem the other 150BRL cards as per the post? Have I done something wrong? I am yet to change it to family in case I need to do something else. Currently it’s on premium single. Appreciate your advice in advance.

Also, is it necessary to change country to Australia when changing to premium family?

    • So if you follow the steps you'll see that you can redeem 4 codes per 24 hours. Hold onto the other's and redeem them later (tomorrow). Now I'd recommend you follow along from step 13, as that's where you are currently.

      • The error code I got was that you can’t redeem more than 18 months worth of premium. I ended up just following the rest of the steps and getting 1 year family for 300BRL. I guess I’ll use the remaining BRL next year.

I think you can update the table and headline to say 300BRL ($93) for 1 year?

      • It gives this error message after THREE codes:

"You can’t redeem this code because you’ve hit the limit for the months of Spotify Premium you can redeem at one time. Please try again later."

It may be that as per the reply below, it is now only three codes to get 1 year of Family (instead of five codes as suggested by the OP).

Will try in 24 hours to redeem the additional two vouchers.

  • Price has gone up for the gift cards. Comes to $170.33 using 28 Degrees. $16 less but still a saving.

  • It is asking me to set up my family (I had one set up before with an Australian address). Do I need to reinvite my family members using a fake Brazilian address?

Do we need to be on VPN Brazil when we record the address?

Or do we put in Australian address again?
