  • What's the "Special feature for Gaming"? Is it because it's black?

    • I just copied it from the description .. maybe I'll take it out

so black people like to play games ?

    • The "special" feature for gaming is a trick some makers (i.e. WD, Samsung) started to use. What they do is provide a mode to reduce putting the SSD in low power mode when it is idle for a while.

Think of it as not putting HDD into sleep (always on) but for SSD. Obviously, SSD doesn't have moving / spinning parts so it generally wakes up much faster from idle.

      It's less "green".

agree they should move on from colour coded blue red green black . its racist and another thing to remember. (red = nas = endurance ?)
just like shoe sizing scheme.. EU US what the ff ?? why not ALL using jp standard. CM. or MM. thats it.

        • Samsung doesn't name their SSDs using any colour. The colour comment was started by an OZBer.

Okay, I'll bite. How the heck is it racist?

          • @Zorlin: Because someone said so. That's enough these days.

  • feels like i got baited.

Bought one, didnt need it. Guess ill have it as a spare if my Kingston A2000 dies.

  • Thanks OP, got one for spare and for my new (old) build.

  • 990 model just got released.. just FYI for everyone

  • I'm after at least a 1TB, but this seem like a good deal? Is a heatsink needed?

  • +1

i have two of these in 1TB size and find them no issue for an OS drive and performance has been good
I believe that performance will degrade when they get really full, so Id probably not opt for a 500GB size personally

  • Are these good for a OS boot drive? I'm getting parts for a new pc and not too sure.

  • compatible with PS5?

    • nvrmind i have my answer
