Not as good as the Prime Day Deal ($202), but seems like a reasonable price. Same price at Officeworks if you'd rather pick it up.

  • Good price. I must have paid 350 when this first came out.

  • Who's signature is it?

    Mine is unsigned

Seriously tho this one any good? I have the Paperwhite from 2 years ago

    • USB C
      Better back-light i think.

    • This model is currently better than the Oasis, minus the buttons.

    • +3

      Signed by SHA-2

    • Bigger screen – 6.7” vs the old 6”

  • I think I'd go for the libra 2 at this price.

I bought a Paperwhite but regretted it. Great tech, but being locked out of Australian libraries is a real bummer.

What do you mean? I didn't even know this was an option for eReaders….

      • +1

Lots of local libraries have their own e-lending collections. But they are rarely (never seen one, but heard that some are) compatible with anything you can send to the Kindle with DRM.

      • +2

In Kobo you can connect to Libby I think that directly downloads to your ebook. It's way more convenient than converting book formats etc and you get to read for free.

well same like apple some people happy to be in locked environment.
come on hackers, forget optus hack this so we can put kobo software inside kindle hardware!

      • Yeah - Kobo can connect to your local library and you can borrow ebooks just real ones (eg if someone else has it you put it on hold and get it when they return it).
Have been using it for years on Kobo, wife has some authors though who only publish to Amazon so now in the market for a Kindle.

Library feature is super useful, I've always got something to read.

I bought one and love it. I've only grabbed books off Libgen so far, going through and replacing all the physical books I own with digital copies.

If you can't connect an app to the Kindle, but have an option to download the ebook, then you can email it to the Kindle (each Kindle has a unique email address for this) and it'll convert the ebook to be readable on the device.

      Have you heard of zlibrary?

      I've heard that it's good.

      • It's just a mirror/fork of Libgen, which is short for Library Genesis. On first glance it does look like its got a nicer interface though.

        • +1

z-library has better search results. LibGen always is too strict when it comes to names from my experience.

        • if they're practically the same then the bottom line is, don't really need access to local libraries

    • Can try a BOOX e-reader. I recently bought a coloured one and so far has been pretty solid. They also have the normal black and white ones too.

  • USB C everything!!!!

    • iPhone just called

    I agree with @Caped Baldy
I bought the Libra 2 a month or so ago for the better ergonomics, open OS/environment and the physical page turner buttons.
It's been a dream and I use it every day, haven't charged it once.

    • haven't charged it once.

you need to read more ;)

jokes aside, it does last a long time.

And I agree, Kobo all the way.

      • Hahaha you're right, I only get time to read for 1-2 hours a day… but at least the battery standby performance is good lol

  • I hope there's a new Oasis this Christmas.

    • +2

There's the new Scribe coming out with a stylus which looks pretty amazing (launching in Nov, but I think shipping later). Similar price point to the Oasis.

  • I love the USB-C, lighting, low price and extra storage, but I really wish it had the physical page turn buttons like on the Oasis.

  • Looking for an e-reader for my 9 year old.
Do you guys think I should get this or Libra 2

I think we will use the local library option, which from reading the comments is not available with this?

    • Libra 2.
Having buttons is also a big plus.
