Thinking it is a good deal for the best compact full frame machine in the market in similar price range.

Now on a quest to find a good deal on the Sony 2860 lens. (not the best i know but fit for purpose to carry around travel with kids)

  Great under $2k deal for this camera.

  Note that Sony has stopped production temporarily due to shortages of chips.

  Recommend trying it irl in store or friend's first as it's very compact and doesn't fit nice in hand for everyone. I love the size though and fits well in my hands and love compactness as a prime lens user. Very easy to take it around

  Silly question. The Sony cash back offer terms includes this:
  "the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer (“Qualifying Purchase”)"
  This seems to imply the item has to be full price. Am I reading this correctly?

    A (disappointing) response from Sony. I also rang their promotions call centre on 1300 887 096 beforehand to double-check, and I think a more senior person responded in the email.
    Having said that, I've noticed that if I buy an item using a discount on eBay I get a tax invoice which has the full, undiscounted amount.
    It's as if the discount is provided by eBay and not the retailer. I'm not sure if that's the case with this particular deal, but may be one way around the problem.

    It would be good if fellow OzBargainers who may have already claimed the cash back offer could provide feedback on whether they've had success with discounted products.

      Hi, Did you get a further confirmation on that from Sony about the camera having to be full price? Digidirect seem to have the $200 cashback sticker on the mobile version of their website for the A7C, but not on the desktop version of the A7C page. I'm not sure if that means anything though. Currently the price is $2,159 still for the black version. I'm trying to work out if the $200 cashback will apply given it is not full price as the T's and C's for the cashback imply. I will be speaking to digidirect tomorrow.
