Apple Watch SE (2022) GPS Version $349 (40mm) or $399 (44mm) Delivered/ in-Store @ David Jones

960

David Jones has a sale on Apple Watches: $50 off RRP (except for Series 8 and Ultra).

I picked up the 44mm SE (2022) GPS verson in Midnight in Melbourne today for $399. You can get the 40mm GPS version for $349. Stock is LIMITED. You may not be able to click-and-collect due to this. I called and they had 2 in Midnight and 1 in Starlight left in 44mm. In Sydney or other places, you may be able to get delivery or click-and-collect.

If you join their Rewards program (https://www.davidjones.com/rewards) you will get a $10 reward on your first purchase. NOTE: it took over 3 hours for this reward barcode to be emailed to me. So I actually got the watch for $389 today.

You might be able to price match with OfficeWorks, but I'm unsure of those rules. They also have some Series 7's with $50 off too, but are mainly the cellular version and no Melbourne stock in the one GPS-only version I wanted.

Apple refurb store is a better deal, they come looking completely brand new and with full warranty in brand new packaging. They are mostly ones that were brought back within the 14 day return period. https://www.apple.com/au/shop/refurbished/watch

I believe the refurb watches are gen1 released in 2020.

These are gen2 released this year.

True, but the Series 7 ones are a better deal than the $50 off at Myer on those.

Refurbed 2020 model vs Brand new 2022 model for only $50 more? Not really worth getting the refurb

Looking to get an Apple Watch for my daughter with cellular, what's the main difference between the 2020 model vs the 2022 ones? Trying to go as cheap as possible, can't see a real reason to get the 2022 one other than having a better heart sensor?

        • For tracking or calls?

        • It’s pretty much the same besides the chip inside, and since it’s newer I’d assume it would have longer software updates too. I’ve got the 2020 one and it’s still going strong. If you can get a good price on the 2020 then I would recommend

These new SE models are great! $349 is a good price for a watch with the latest Apple heart sensor

It doesn't have ECG/ Blood Oxygen or Always on display but for $349 vs $649 its worth to lose out on these things for me as I don't use them anyways

  • Probably not the right place to ask advice, but does anyone have a good recommendation for the best value/accurate HRM for Android?

    • Probably the Samsung Watch. The Fossil Gen 6 are pretty decent for the money.

    • +2

If you just need a HRM, get a Garmin or polar strap.

Independent testing has the Huawei Watch Fit 2 Smartwatch as the closest to the Apple Watch 8 / SE out of all the smart watches tested for HRM accuracy results

as an iwatch4 owner from day one, I feel like Always on display is the number one upgrade i am looking for, so many times i have to drop whats in my hand to just click it to wake it up, and also the Bluetooth range is just so short i cant leave my phone much far away.

    • +1

You can't just tilt your wrist forward instead of tapping to wake it up?

  • Might of snagged a midnight 44mm for SWMBO. We shall see.

  • 40mm version OOS?

  • Stacked with $10 Amex offer, (spend >$100, get $10 credit back) as I figured this was easier than trying to price match Officeworks.

Ended up paying $389 for a 44mm midnight SE

  • Is it compatible with my Huawei? Genuine question.

    • +2

      Not compatible with androids

  • Anyone know much about the cellular one? Are telstra/optus the only ones that offer an apple watch cellular plan? I'm on a plan with Kogan atm and not sure if they can offer an apple watch plan.

    • thats the problem with the celluar ones. I didnt get mine celluar as it come with the additional gotcha of a postpaid plan with telstra/optus/vodafone.

      • Yeah I might have to go back and switch it for the non cellular one, not worth the difference of paying $70+ when I can't even use the feature

  • OOS

  • Thanks OP, got price match at officeworks; had to pay over the phone, thinking of getting gift cards tomorrow with flybuys deal and asking if the store can refund are reprocess with gift cards :)
