Don't sleep on this. These are well put together watches for a great price.

Edit: Can only purchase with the Steeldive logo using this listing.

    • +1

Where is the link without logo?

    • +1

Did you end up finding a silver face watch?

      • +1

I didn't, although I'm not in the market for one anymore haha.

        • +6

Let's be honest, you're always in the market for a new watch

    • +1

      Sleep!?
might be difficult with a LUME WARS 💥 winner like this watch in the bedroom
(according to Jody from Just One More Watch)
      lolz 😎

  • +3

Got the addiesdive version the other week. Great watch.

EDIT:just bought the addiesdive flight watch now for $80. This is an annoying hobby

Plus some store coupons etc. Got it to about 85

        • +1

Good deal, review here. Was considering posting it. I would get the black dial (no logo) on bracelet. Don't forget cashrewards.

        • Thanks. Now just to figure out which one… I'm too damn indecisive

          • @mit: Case diameter is 39mm on the pilot so that's a big difference.

            • @WatchNerd: Lug to lug looks like its 46.6mm on the sd1970 and 49 on the pilot though. Unless im reading it wrong and ive bought a tiny watch lol

              • @Fergy1987: Got the sterile version in the end. Not sure what I did but got a super deal discount but couldn't find a coupon until after I bought it of course. $92 all up.

            • +1

@WatchNerd: Thanks for the heads up. I got this steeldive from the last time you posted it. Pretty happy with it. I feel like it wears more like a 40mm due ot the bezel ring being inset.

            • @WatchNerd: Any recommendations on leather or other bands for this? Ordered a better clasp already

        • +1

Hopefully pilots never hit the water :P
200m water resistance and a leather strap is an odd choice but you could put many a strap on those military style watches (natos and canvas go great), that still looks good with the stainless bracelet too. Can't argue with the extra water resistance though and the specs look good for the price, just the themes get a bit mixed on some of these mircobrands.

The military style watches are very easy to read though, bought the Hamilton Khaki handwind for that reason and simplicity- only 50m water resistance but wouldn't go diving anyway with it on.

Ps. Thanks WatchNerd, have had my SD1970 for about a year and it's one of my favorite watches. Bought another on behalf of a mate. Thought there may be a 15%-20% cashback like last time but was cheap enough to buy at the start of the sale.

        • +1

Thanks for the link, been on the lookout for a good looking Pilot for a while.

Paid in US$ (USD$56.72) with no fee debit card, plus Cashrewards 5%, which came to a touch over AUD$86.

My Steeldive SD1970 has monopolised most of my wrist time in recent months, so looking forward to putting the Pilot on a leather band or NATO and seeing if it displaces the SD1970 as my most frequently used beater :-).

          • @opposablethumbs: What was the no (international) fee debit card? I'm keen to get one, as I've heard just applying for a credit card can negatively affect one's credit score.

            • @Shiny Mew: Suncorp Everyday account.

Can apply online <www.suncorp.com.au/banking/bank-accounts/everyday-accounts.html>. They send you the debit Visa card in the mail, within about a week once you go through the online application and ID check.

I initially got it for discount egift cards via their Rewards program in their app, but that has gone by the wayside now. They're still promising another new, improved version someday, though nothing has happened for close to 6 months since the previous program closed.

Only downside is that they'll auto-close the account after 90 days if you don't have any transactions. Easy enough to deposit a token amount before 90 days to keep it active though.

          • +1

@opposablethumbs: Got the Addiesdive pilot clean dial version delivered today.

TBH, not as enamoured with it as my Steeldive SD170 or indeed a Citizen pilot (NJ0100-11E) that I got on sale for a similar price from Kogan, a bit over a year ago.

Doesn't look like it sits as well on the wrist as the two watches above and lume on numbers makes it all a bit too greenish on the dial in daylight.

On paper the sapphire glass and Seiko NH35 suggest it would be a clear winner, but for a pilot look the Citizen just has a cleaner dial, with bigger and fewer numbers, plus leather band that matches the pilot style well.

Nothing wrong with the stainless steel band itself and will probably recycle well onto other watches in my collection, just feel it doesn't quite make the pilot look.

Maybe it'll grow on me with a bit more wrist time and a NATO or leather band that makes it pop a bit more.

Will post again about accuracy and reserve when I've had a bit more "time" with it (pun intended :-)).

            • @opposablethumbs: Accuracy: +6 sec/day
Reserve: didn't directly observe for slow down, but stopped completely at about 48h mark

              • +1

@opposablethumbs: Pretty good! I returned a A$5,000 (RRP) Aquis calibre 400 as they claimed -3/+5 s/day but eneded up being +17. Obviously not good. Anything around or under 10s is ok if you're not spending too much.

btw they've upgraded the clasp to a higher quality milled one now, even better value and saves changing it.

  • +2

Grabbed one with a black waffle strap based off this review. "It's such a beautiful good watch. A sexy watch. I put it on this morning and already got three girls' phone numbers before lunch. Buy this watch".

    • +7

I got mine to serve as a reminder of the time I went looking for a deranged army Colonel in Cambodia.

    • Yeah , sure you did !

  • Watchnerd what's your opinion on the San Martin watches?

    • +1

I've never bought one but Jody @Just One More Watch did a video on some of them 2 days ago.

      • +1

Yeah, they look like great build quality - expensive though!

        • +1

Definitely a homage but heading a bit too far into the clone category for me. I've almost bought one a few times. I'd consider one to try out a style of watch.

This sale, I might finally crack and buy the Vintage pilots watch (Homage of a Longines Heritage model). I don't really like the fake patina, but am interested in picking up that style of watch and at that price point, it's a bit more palatable.

My other pick would be the "Explore" in Tiffany Blue
          https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004082347371.html

          • +1

@ihfree: Agree, SM are a bit too expenisve but maybe worth it for the right one, great quality.
Sometimes their branding/logos are a bit off with multiple ones on the same watch.
The vintage pilot looks good, i was looking at the Baltany Crono as well (but already got a hamilton which is a lot simpler and cleaner. Still tempting ha.

Those Cronos are probably the best quality if you're after the perfect GMT Sub 'homage'

        • +1

I have 2, the sn019 which is the new sub homage and the 36mm explorer homage. Both a bit over $400 but very nice quality for the price!

Quality seems better than the Seiko 5 and Citizen that I have bought under $300 (on discount).

  • +5

    This is my daily driver.
It's a steel at this price.

    • +8

      You mean your daily diver

  • +2

Thanks OP. Just bought a blue one and a safety clasp.

  • +3

I thought I was out, then they pulled me back in.

Guess I'll work two new pieces into my rotation.

  • Showing as AUD$110.59 for me. Do you guys shop with USD?

    • +1

Yes USD & use a credit card with no international transaction fees like 28 degrees mastercard.

      • +1

        Thanks.

    • Yeah I forgot to change currency to USD as I was already logged in, but was A$104 after the coupons. Close enough, and they have come down in price a bit I think (hopefully just as good quality).

  • +1

Finally cracked and bought one, as well as an orange Seestern.

    • Are they homages or renamed replicas?

      • Is there a difference?

  • +1

I bought the green last year and it’s amazing!

  • Getting A$122 delivered. What coupons to bring it down?

  • I ordered one and cancelled and tried to buy again only to realise that it's showing $115 for me. So resumed the old order, hopefully goes through. Paid $105 for the first order.

  • Great watch. I genuinely sometimes forget when I'm wearing this or the Seiko Willard. The movement holds time very well.

    • I thought the Seiko Willard had a domed crystal rather than a raised flat edge?

  • +1

You can follow the steeldive store for an additional discount coupon. That's how you get the 63.75 usd exact pricing.

  • Thanks OP! Got black one with black plastic strap. Initially wanted waffle but it that one was already gone. Looks like a good deal. Ended up being ~$100 AUD when paying in UDS ($63.75, followed the store).

    • Also $4 Cashrewards cash back already tracked. So will be a $96 AUD watch in this case.

    • Saying 10 waffle straps available (black), but can probably buy one later on separately. I really like the stainless, and got the upgraded clasp (about $10 or something).

  • GST is pushing it up to $75 usd for me. Not sure how everyone is getting it for so much less.

    • Did you try following that store on AliExpress?

      • Yeah. $1.5 coupon

      • I wasn't getting all the coupons for some reason so just tried a few more times and eventually got the right price.

  • Anyone have any suggestions for a milled clasp for this?

    • I have this on mine - https://a.aliexpress.com/_mKGUGyk
      tis good

      • Is there any rattle? My stock clasp rattles on the little part that locks it.

Also is 18mm the correct size?

        • 18mm and no rattle

    • Yeah this is the recommended one, think the same

      AU $10.39 6%OFF | High quality 16mm 18mm 20mm 22mm Fold Safety Clasp buckle Deployment Clasp
      https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNSVKm0

You need 18mm one for the SD1970.
Adds a little more weight but not too much and great quality (mind you the stock one is ok too).

  • +4

If you're thinking about buying this watch, stop thinking and start buying. I've had the green one for a long time and it is an absolute gun. I switched it for a waffle strap and am chuffed to bits with it.

For this price, just buy it. Stop reading this and start buying

    • +3

Agreed, you can't even buy the nh34 movement by itself very cheap These days, at least $60 or more. Incredible value for the quality.

  • +1

I daily run this and have worn it through construction work and mechanic environments, hasn't skipped a beat. Crystal looks perfect still too.

  • +1

WatchNerd, what's the best deal I can get on an SD1975 (the Tuna homage)?

    • +1

The best thing about the Tuna is the Solar Quartz movement keeps great time (can last 10 months with a 3h charge).. and they aren't that expensive but obviously not a dress dive watch type look.

      • +1

There are automatic variants of the OG Tuna aren't there? In any event, the SD1975 is automatic, powered by the venerable NH35. I'm quite taken by the red and orange sunburst variants….can't decide between them!

        • +1

Yeah heaps of different variants no doubt and the homage be based on the original one.

Just another option if you like that shape and they don't wear as big as you think, plus light, very comfortable and great time keeping/ battery.

Those homages look a lot thicker though.

  • +1

Wanted to try one for a while and couldn't resist at this price point after all the discounts…so I dove in and bought the black waffle strap variant after seeing many complaints about the steel one. I always prefer steel but looking at my collection - it's time for something new. So this seemed the right fit.

Had some left over US currency in PayPal and that was just the perfect use for this. Nervous and excited. Let's go!

    • +1

Nothing wrong with the stainless steel bracelet, pretty good quality better than most Seikos.

People upgrade the clasp for a bit nicer quality milled one (myself included).

Depends what you like the look of, I usually buy with stainless and purchase an additional strap/band. I think it looks best on stainless but wouldn't mind a rubber waffle strap too - didn't see that for purchase separately. The rubber would cut the weight down a bit.

Either way I think you'll love it, cracker of a watch.

      • Thanks for giving me instant buyer’s remorse! I wear these for work (office) so find the stainless steel is usually better. I dig the milled clasp too - that’s definitely a mod I would do too.

But given I have a few, this offers something different. Genuinely pumped about as there’s no turtles in my collection.

A mate at work showed me his Seiko turtle yesterday and it was a work of art. Hoping this gives me similar joy at a fraction of the cost!

        • +1

Either option is fine mate so doesn't matter- can easily buy more bands/bracelets for cheap down the track from Ali.
I also like having various styles and watches so I'm sure it will be good! Was saying i wouldn't mind a waffle rubber strap too.
The point is it's cheaper getting a watch with the stainless and then buying a rubber strap (like with my Oris) instead of the other way around, but these are cheap enough it doesn't matter :).

          • @G-rig: Definitely agree it's cheaper to get stainless as the default option, I just saw a few YouTube reviews online that smashed it. With that said, I wouldn't mind investing in a really good SS bracelet if this watch proves to be a winner.

            • @StToffee: oh right, no idea. mine's fine so not sure what they are doing with it.
The upgraded clasp is nice too.

  • Got one for modding this time! This link has dimensions for the curious: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChineseWatches/comments/ni7wvp/stee…

  • +1

    Had one for 3 mths + - it's a good watch

  • For some reason it says it can't ship the model with the metal strap in black to my address but all the other are fine. Does anyone else have this issue? I want a metal strap with it, so if not any suggestions on another replacement band?

  • Has anyone put in a claim yet for Cashrewards?
I assume cashback amount should be 5% of sale value (no pre-gst amount applicable)?
'did you apply any discounts to your purchase?' = coins, spend and save, superdeal
'did you purchase via the AliExpress App?' - not sure

  • WWOW, anyone after a Sub Homage with an NH35 movement https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004607724028.html?spm=a2…

  • +1

Finally collected from the Post office, haven't bought the new dials or bezels yet…..

I've changed the metal band to a spare leather strap, I bought from Aliexpress a while back when my first SD1970 arrived :) and replaced the caseback with see-through glass……

Here is the crappy pics, the left is my older sterile dial and the right is the one bought on this sale(and the watch to be modded in the future)…..

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/102691/99646/front.jpg

    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/102691/99647/back.jpg

I half-heartily apologise if my choice of bands are ill-matching or not to your tastes….. :P

    • Wow looks really good on leather. Where did you get the exhibition caseback, that's a nice simple mod?

      • +1

Very simple mod(a few seconds), give me a few minutes and I might be able to find the seller :)
Edit: Listing is gone :( Bought in march….. This however seems to be the same: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004673179831.html?spm=a2… They are made to fit seiko's including the 6105 of which our watch is a 'homage'

        Straps come from here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003236361872.html?spm=a2…

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Leather-watch-bands/9… the size for this watch is 20mm

        • Thanks for the links. Which do you prefer, no logo or logo?
I've bought both, my Dad wanted no logo. I have the logo on mine but you can hardly notice it so it doesn't bother me.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: I prefer no logo, though now I have my hands on a logo version it doesn't bother me greatly….

That said it was bought with the intention of modding the dial and bezel, plus I had the exhibition caseback on hand still so I'm happy with being able to tinker with it…..

I want to add a seigaiha wave dial in black and a black ceramic bezel….. This may change in the future tho….

Originally I was going to build a NH35 Watch by scratch(part by part) but this is ultimately cheaper for me at this current time…..

      • Leather doesn't suit most divers and coming into summer I'd prefer rubber or stainless.. Dries quicker too but each to their own.

Btw which is the face mod, Jody talking about it to get matching lume to the bezel. I love the tone, some people like all matching lume.

        • I bought a black rubber waffle strap the same time as the original, but I've misplaced it :( If I find it again I will most likely switch one of the watches out.

My casio duro has me happy with rubber for divers anyway.

Not sure what you mean by 'face' mod as I have not changed the dials or hands with these watches….

I just bought a no logo sterile dial a few months back and the current/last sale was only offering the logo version…. Hope that clears things up?

          • @Forfiet: Fair enough, sounds ok mate
Still wouldn't mind a waffle strap sometime.

Nah I assume that people were putting on Seiko branded faces aka dials.

            • @G-rig: I may put a 'seiko' dial on it in the future, but if I can find a no logo seigaiha wave dial I'd happily go with that option……

The other option is a custom dial printed with my name or 'fantasy' company…..

Depends on budget, sales and/or my wants and whims at the time :)

P.S I don't sell my watches, so I'm not tricking ppl into buying my 'seiko' I just like watches….. :P
P.P.S I dont usually use metal straps as they don't suit my small hands and wrists…. So that's why I usually use leather or rubber….
