        • But with a crap LCD

      • Let see what's going on for SE 4th gen.

      • Why the last?? šŸ„ŗ

        • +2

Not selling in the quantities they expect. Problem is the price isn't that much different to normal iphone.

The problem Apple has is SE is too small screen (4.7"). iphone Mini (5.4") is too close to the normal iphone in price. Apple actually needs a just under $1k RRP iphone that is like 5" with 1080p and close to up to date hardware. Should sell like hot cakes.

At the moment it is fire & ice. The $750 phone is too crap. The $1500 is too expensive.

          • @netjock: Thx for explanation!
I kiinda wanna get it since it will be the last..

          • @netjock: SE3 = MINI replacement @$800

            • +1

@srhardy: Certainly some difference. But I appreciate the SE design also

              • @solacens:

                appreciate the SE design also

they should combine into Mini chassis/top bezel with SE tactile home button/bottom
                (+LCD/OLED options)

THAT WOULD BE MY DREAM IPHONE

                • @capslock janitor: Sounds like Frankensteinā€˜s monster.

Apple really need to create a phone with an under-screen Touch ID sensor.

            • @srhardy: For $800 if it is like the MINI (5.4" FHD) or shrunk XR (5" ish FHD) would be reasonable buy even at RRP.

    • +1

type c would be nice but I will use MagSafe to charge so it will never get plugged in anyway

  • Can I still return iPhone to Apple Store after 14 days?

    • No. Only if you got it directly from Apple.

      • Thought they did that..
Like problems can go straight to Apple shop too

        • Sorry. I thought Bruce1202 meant to return and get a refund by Apple within 14 days. Yes you can return the iPhone from this deal to any Apple Store if there's problems with it within a year (or even 2 years under ACL) as it'd be under Australian warranty.

          • @dreamykitten: No sorry.

Sorry. I thought Bruce1202 meant to return and get a refund by Apple within 14 days.

They possibly did mean that, too. For partial refund on external purchase, which I thought Apple did, but ure right wouldnt make sense outside 14days…
Some workers are very accommodating before, IDK about now

No harm in bruce trying I suppose

  • Well that was a ride. Colours kept running out as I was adding them to my cart. Better not be people wanting to just flog them off for a profit.

Managed to get my wife and I sorted for Christmas. Thanks OzB, you strike again!

    • +2

Better not be people wanting to just flog them off for a profit.

It is the unloved iphone. Might get your money back but no profit.

I'd suspect there will be other sales down the pipeline. Good phone but it was too closely priced to the normal iphone. Now iphone 14 have come out it is even worse trying to shift these.

    • Do you have a screenshot of the Harvey Norman price for the 512GB model? Or possibly a copy of a receipt with the $999 price? It would help a lot if you could upload it here or DM it to me privately

  • Nobody seems to dislike HN anymore, lol

    • only before this deal runs out, lol

  • +1

    Looks like its all gone.

  • +3

For anybody curious, I got mine recently (from a 12 mini) and the 13 is a notable upgrade. The added battery is particularly huge considering the short lifespan of the 12 battery.

  • Make sure you check all colours and stores. They are running low now

  • Good price for the 512gb

  • Just got my ready for pick up message - pink 512GB - thanks again OP, I am so happy to have found this deal

    • You mean red?

    • No worries.

I didn't even find it for me. My missus has been after a new iPhone for a few months so I was keeping a keen eye out for a deal.

She wanted the startlight white over the pink

  • That's a good price!

  • +1

Just picked mine up, in time for Christmas! Cancelled my Amazon order. Lucky I hold this long enough!

    • +1

Oh no … I don't have anybody discussing the Amazon wait time anymore. Missed that deal. Enjoy the phone :-).

      • Thereā€™ll be fewer people on the backorder list now if that helps :)

Actually I did wonder about those backorders yesterday because someone else (at bottom of this thread) said their ā€œAmazon order got cancelledā€, as opposed to cancelling it themselves due to this deal. Hopefully yours is still active.

  • Does anyone have a screenshot of the Harvey Norman price for the 512GB model? Or possibly a copy of a receipt with the $999 price? It would help a lot for a price protection claim

  • Need a deal on the 128GB model. $800 or less, thanks!

    • Gumtree

  • -2

Only 100$ discount on usual 1050 price. Not a bargain

    • May I ask where we can unusually get for 1050?

      • From the apple store

        • $100 saving is very substantial in this economy

    • +2

The 512GB model went for $999 - thats $570 saving off RRP

      • I hope you bought it for 999

    • +2

$1049 is the RRP for the 128GB models (which were not on sale today unfortunately).

It was $270 off for the 256GB models, and a lot more for the 512GB ones (overkill for most). This was probably the best deal to date for them, and HN had stock.

      Thanks to OP!

  • Love the phone, but the battery is weak. Phone is usually dead by 9pm.

No games, just YT, music with BT/Casting, texts and web browsing.

    • -2

Imagine paying a grand for a phone tgst doesn't last a day

  • Canā€™t believe I missed outā€¦. šŸ˜©

  • Iā€™m setting up my 512GB now - looks like it was very old stock - the phone came dead with zero battery (not good) and 15.1 software (last years) - I hope this doesnā€™t mean my battery has been damaged if it was laying in HN storeroom for so long battery had drained itself

    • Could be why its called "clearance" still a good price to be honest and you still get 2 years ACL warranty.

    • Which store did you buy from? Was it metro or somewhere out in the sticks?

Wondering if thatā€™s the case for every phone. Maybe some stores had newer stock?

      • +1

Perth - OƇonnor store - metro area
I had a feeling it was old because the box was so dusty, when I saw that it came with 15.1 software - that was September last year release, so probably one of the first ones made (hence why battery had managed to drain over a year in storage) - but I left it on charge all night and its running perfect now

      • +1

I assume the 512GB mini models wouldā€™ve been much harder to shift, especially at the original RRPā€”most people wanting high storage capacities would probably be buying the Pro/Pro Max modelsā€”so will be interesting to see if the 256GB I ordered is similarly old or not.

        • Hmm interesting point. Although the Pro/Pro Max 512GB models would have cost a lot more wouldnā€™t they?

Havenā€™t really paid attention to new iPhones in a while but I thought they can end up costing $2k+.

          • @Ghost47: Yes, itā€™s speculation on my part that in general not many people would have bought the max capacity mini models (esp. at over $1.7k original RRP), hence perhaps more likelihood of older stock still lying around, whereas those buying the higher end 13 Pro models (which started at around that price) would be more likely to do soā€”itā€™s all relative.

        • I agree - especially since this one is a pink 512GB I doubt people flocked to the shops to get this configuration

I got Apple Care+ on it straight away ($9/ mth) so if any issues I'll deal with Apple direct

          • @Sittingonthemoon: You don't really have to purchase Apple Care + as it is covered under 2 year ACL warranty. Apple Care + is good for accidental damages.

            • @cloudie9: This is true - is it 2 years here? I thought we had 1 in Oz

              • @Sittingonthemoon: We do: https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ios-warranty-rā€¦. I believe itā€™s the 1-year official Apple warranty plus a de facto second year thanks to ACL (it is not reasonable for an expensive smartphone to fail within 2 years) that Apple is reported to honour with no/little fuss (though I have no direct experience).

FWIW my view of AppleCare is it may be worthwhile if youā€™re prone to losing/breaking your phone and/or prefer to use it without a case (noting you still have to make a payment per incident as well as the ongoing coverage), and/or you frequently require tech support.

I always use a decent case and have never managed to damage (or lose) a phone yet, so happy to take the riskā€”though Iā€™ve probably jinxed myself now.

        • Well, my 256GB model came with iOS 15.0 (not even 15.1) and a flat battery too, so there goes that theory.

  • My order just got cancelled for no reason. Payment was made so I hope I can enquire about this.
All this after I cancelled my Amazon backorder.

    • Did you get a confirmation or was your order under review?

      • +1

Under review. when I saw the deducted money, I cancelled my amazon order.

I got this under review email several times over the last year with these "on sale" items. I though this time it will go through as the others were the Officeworks price errors.

This looked legit as people are getting their phones. My order was not the last phone the link was valid for several minutes after.

I sent an enquiry email. Cannot imagine what issue they have?? I buy online a lot! Never got issue like this.

        • Yep same. I got the weird security review as well. I think that it is a fake process to buy them time to consolidate orders vs. stock. As there seems to be a stock shortage.

My order has been confirmed this morning (24 hrs after ordering) but the order tracking still says processing.

        • +1

I got a reply to my enquiry email. They linked their policy that says they can cancel any order for no reason.

They directed me to their security department, and I taught there was an issue with something. Thanks for letting me run around trying to figure out what happened as I am worried about future orders.

By the way I still haven't received anything that says no stock I only know this from the posts below.

People complain about Amazon killing brick and mortar stores, but Amazon never f.. with me like this.

          • @kator: Yep. Strongly suspect the "security check" is to allow them to make more sales then they have product for, whilst collecting and keeping data on people before eventually refunding the money.

    • +1

I really didn't want to get one (anything really) from HN. They are a shit company, but my daughter needs a new phone and this was a really good deal. Anyway I ordered and got an email with a confirmation No. With that I stopped looking, expecting a phone to be delivered.

This morning, I get a call from HN, saying that they have to cancel order as there is no stock anywhere in Australia and they will be refunding money.

      "Not happy Jan"

      • Would you mind having a close look at the 'confirmation' email and letting us know whether it was actually a 'order is being reviewed' email?

Agreed they shouldn't take orders for stock they don't have.

As per their terms, they also collect your personal data and keep it on their servers.

        • I got 2 emails"

Thats why they are called 'Hardly Normal'!

  • My Amazon order got cancelled so I checked out HN and picked up their last 13 mini for $949, not the colour I wanted but can't argue at that price.

  • 2 Midnight 512GB pieces available in Auburn as of CoB yesterday. I picked up one.

  • I missed out on this deal but managed to grab a 256 Midnight off AMZ for $949 today:
