  • Wow that's tempting!

  • +1

Interesting setup, Chinese company has a factory in Germany. Panel must be LG display but since its a clearance deal must be not selling that well ??

    • +4

They have the wrong brand name "Metz" XD

    • +4

Does it say that these models are made in Germany? (European models with HDR10+ could be German, Asia-Pacific models Chinese.)

      • +11

Yeah, I would say oz version is not even made in Germany, financially, logistically not wise to bring product from Germany.

        https://metzblue.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/5565MXD95…

Manual was even made in HQ China by Skyworth (in Shenzen, parent company).

I say its a Chinese brand trying to camoflauge as German lol

        • +1

Distributed by Tempo, so it's a cheap brand.

    • +1

      Irrelevant these days.

I have German Qcell solar panels and my parents have a Mercedes car.

Two of the worst constructed products. Both absolutel crap!

  • +3

Looks like a popular deal - The GG website has crashed! (Got in quick and grabed a 55" for a bed room). Also a few interesting things about the deal - 3 Year warranty (LG is only 1 year), 120Hz - not sure if it's HDMI 2.1?

  • +3

I have this TV - great TV unless gaming as no 2.1

The colour and 120Hz are great. Android TV very snappy and responsive.

I think this is the lowest price for OLED ever seen on ozbargain.

    • Do you have a 55" or 65"? How close are the stands to the corners of the TV? My TV unit is 130cm wide and I'm wondering if it would fit on top.

      • +1

        Product Height (mm): 869
        Product Width (mm): 1447
        Product Depth (mm): 269

Since the stands very close to the edge, 130cm may not enough.

        • +1

Is anyone who has the 55 inch version of this able to tell me the depth of the stand? Trying to find a TV unit for it to sit on. Thanks!

    • I think it might be the lowest. I paid $1169 4 years ago for a 55" LG, that was an insane price back then (for display stock though).

    • Honestly I got a PS5 and LG C9 and the 120hz I notice. The 4k not as much so I just play 1080p 120 anyway. Definitely rock solid for MP gaming.

  • 120hz and no HDMI 2.1 how stupid

    • +2

      because it's fake 120hz

      • +2

Not sure about this TV but it might be able to display real 120z at another resolution like 1080p (just like the older LG TV's)

        • Tried 1080p 120hz via the Xbox Series X and it works

      • +2

        It's not fake 120Hz

  • But how is the burn-in? 😬

  • That’s very tempting…but the lack of HDMI 2.1, as well as the potential security/privacy concerns (never heard of Metz before, I don’t know how trustworthy they are as a brand), have me hesitating.

    • +1

Get a chromecast for $70 and don't connect the TV to the internet?

  • according to this website be aware that it is 120hz MEMC and HDMI 2.0 only

    • +1

It’s not MEMC this is a different TV. It’s Native 120Hz

  • For $999 OLED, is too good to pass.. website kept crashing so I called and placed order successfully. Also Good guys have $70 store credit with $800 spent, bringing the TV to $929 ish

    • Do you get the store credit after you purchase or is it just $70 off $800 spent?

      • +2

After you purchase, a couple weeks later you get a $70 voucher you have to use within 10 days of issue. It's good if you already have an idea of something you might need from good guys! $70 was perfect for buying an appliance. But I wouldn't consider it like a $70 discount due to its conditions

  • +2

@jsediv has one so check his impressions here

  • Insane price for this oled

  • Just ordered one over the phone :D

  • +5

Tempted but "Metz" ruins it. Never heard of that brand so I'm going to have to expect something equivalent of Kogan which I still wouldn't buy at that price.

    • -1

      Your loss

    • +5

Distributed by Tempo. Check out their reviews and I agree that it appears it could be something equivalent of Kogan.

    • +2

It's actually just Skyworth, which is one of the biggest TV brands in China. I have this TV and it has 'Skyworth' all over its manual, system info etc. lol

  • What Android version does it run? Kayo supported in the play store?

  • The 65" was already out of stock in SA since early this morning. Nearest stock was in Mildura.

    • Just bought one in Hectorville store.
Was supposed to pick it up, but they couldn't find it in the warehouse.
Therefore they offered to deliver it from Woodville tomorrow at no extra cost.

  • No dolby vision support?

  • +1

Bought this today and am using it! Thanks OP! I cant get HDMI ARC to work with my soundbar though, anyone who has it had any issues or fixes??

    • Features mention 3 HDMI inputs. Does one of them have "HDMI ARC" adjacent? If so, it might need to be enabled in settings. Were you using HDMI ARC with your sound bar on another TV?

    • Connect up. Do a full reset (ie turn off at powerpoint for a few seconds and back on). Report back…

    • Try setting the "HDMI Setting" on the TV to HDMI 2.1 (stupid, i know) and allow passthrough

  • One month on and another 20% off. Getting tempting

  • -4

As long as it says 120hertz on the panel, but outputs nothing, is a win win for me.

As long as you save, as long as the features not implemented (but possibly neglected) but embedded in the pits of fakery stil makes me happy seeing it displayed as 120hertz.

Because what's subjective to one is subjective to another.

    • +10

This is why you don't do drugs.

      • +1

As long as you don't do drugs, you're much better off

        • -2

Drugs the stereotypical term to degrade someone.

Well luckily it's not me, but many thousands on medication.

  • +1

Few years ago, Kogan also had $999 55OLED.

  • Just got a 65" in SA.
    Being delivered tomorrow.
    Hope it doesn't disappoint….

  • +2

So consensus this is good TV for Free to air and maybe some basic gaming?
I was going to save for the C2 but this I could get now and my 10 year old sony 55" hx850 is doing weird blurry stuff..
Really would be some switch games maybe for the family and some ps5 for me after hours for the hour i get if i'm lucky?
can't go wrong for this price? tempted by the 65" but 55 might be good deal incase it poops out in a couple years?
    i'm so torn.. argh

    • +1

I'm upgrading from my HX800! Just go for it

  • Definitely Chinese skyworth tv…just rebadged tv…

  • +1

Also 3yr Warranty - that's just gonna cover it breaking not burn in right? doubt i'd use it enough to get burn in exactly but really gonna be mostly fta/netflix tv for secondary room kinda deal.. the $1500 saving comprared to a c2 at like 3k range is super tempting.. might just have to bite the bullet and pray to the tv gods

  • Seems to TGG commercial Price

  • +1

unless you want it today, just shows how cheap Oled will be once the demand drops and older LCD tech saturates the market in every house hold

    • Yeah unfortunately OLED going to go the way of plasma

  • Talked them down to $1469 for the 65. Thanks op

  • Just set mine up and the sound is actually reasonable.

    • +1

Is anything else at least reasonable?

Picture quality (angles, dark tones?), interface (snappy, responsive?), overall build quality?

      • +4

Also got one today, picture quality great, angles and dark tones good. interface is fully android tv so barebones but has everything, fairly snappy but not quite as snappy as my trusty eko tv. build quality is average, plasticky, remote feels solid. :) happy for the price!

        • How’s speaker quality? Just picked up mine :) 55

  • +9

Thanks op. Rang my local store but they didn't have a 55. They offered me the last 65 for $1,299. Couldn't say no.

    • Are you able to upload a receipt. I bought one for full price and wouldn't mind trying my luck to get a partial refund 😉

    • Wow i'd def get that! Hope its something I can negotiate somehow but closes in stock place is 3hr away :(

  • Ordered online with delivery. Thanks!

  • +1

Can anyone tell me about the stand? Is it good? Don’t want to wall mount.

Also, I don’t mind burn in / doubt it’ll happen if only used for movies and constantly changing frames etc

But if there’s slight burn in, I don’t mind either (for the price).

Can anyone tell me if speakers are nice?

Planning on collecting today. PayPal $5 bucks if someone offers a comprehensive review!!!!! :D

  • -2

BF deals on brand name oleds will show how this was a genius move from TGG 😂😂😂

  • Anyone who purchased the 55 able to share box dimensions? Trying to decide if i pick up or just get delivery.

    • I just got it. Had to fold seats down in my Holden Trax. Can Google boot capacity

      • Im mainly after the height of box.

        • From estimation, Height is maybe 70ish cm. Big car good fit it in the seats, my car couldn’t

        • Just got home, it’s 90cm height

          • @Bisah1342: Legend thanks, and that is the height of the box not the set up tv?

            • @Lukeypop: Box yes :) haven’t opened tv yet

              • @Bisah1342: Awesome, the mighty mazda 2 will manage :')

                • @Lukeypop: Yep definitely fold your seats! Haha my Holden Trax is a bit bigger but it was a snuggly fit

  • Alot of 55" stock in SA, makes you wonder why they're clearing it 🤣😬

  • Whats the energy usage of the 65?

Also, how's the upscaling of free to air etc?

I bought a 4K from Alibaba back in 2012 for about half the going rate of a 1080 (shops had no idea what 4K was back then). The LG panel, 4K picture was brilliant, but anything less than 1080P is shocking (no upscaling ability) , it has no backlight dimming, and use 3x the power of a mainstream equivalent.

*edit - also my cheapie loses all your custom picture settings every time you change something (ie, channnel, input, on/off cycle). Defaults back to over bright.

Feel this may be similar situation.
