I think you need price and store in title! $904 from JB HiFi in this case

    Here we go again

  • I think this is the new SKU(with the 6nm chip)?

    • have they seriously done this?

      • +3

you mean the chip? i thought it's quite well known if you followed ps5 news -> https://au.pcmag.com/gaming-1/96396/new-ps5-model-uses-more-…

        • +10

Solid business plan. Reduce costs, increase price.

          • @brocky2006: considering it's coming from tsmc, i have a feeling it's cost base increased… just like how it has happened for the gpu chips.

          • @brocky2006: …and hope that between the two you can offset a range of inflationary pressures across your supply chain.

Yes, it is a solid business plan.

          • +3

            @brocky2006:

Solid business plan. Reduce costs, increase price.

Next step: stop manufacturing disc consoles and charge the usual sony™ proprietary accessory premiums for external disc drives

    • I got one from JB Hifi 3 weeks ago when they were briefly in stock - and yes it was the 1200 series with the 6nm. So you could safely assume this is also.

      • Although it makes little difference to the consumer which revision they get, one uses a miniscule amount of power less than the other.

        • +1

It can also depend if someone was specifically trying to buy a previous revision that shipped with an earlier firmware version (4.03/4.50 - which was recently exploited. The 1100 series used to ship with that firmware.

The 1200 series ships with 5.50 firmware.

        • Also comes down to availability of the silicon at TSMC. Part of the reason for the chip shortage was that Radeon GPUs, Ryzen CPUs, XSX, XSS and PS5 were all using TSMC 7nm silicon.

Now we are seeing Ryzen 7000 CPUs and upcoming Radeon GPUs on 5nm, PS5s moving to 6nm, which are all on different manufacturing processes and get produced separately. So assuming the supply of raw silicon wafers keep up, we should see much better supply going forward.

      • Was that a bundled console? Also, disc or digital?

        • +1

          The $649 digital console, non-bundled.

If youre trying to get an old 1100 series you might get lucky with a Horizon Forbidden West bundle

God of War Ragnarök (Full Game Voucher)

    Copied from description.

  • +43

Full priced console + full priced game is not a deal

    • It is for sony fanboys

      • +3

They would already have a PS5 at launch price though.

    • +1

It's another one of those OzRRP deals. Sad.

    • -1

      You're wrong.

  • I saw this at ebgames today, $650 if trade PS4 PRO + 1 any Game

    • +6

      Lol still a ripoff

    • That doesn't seem like a great deal, but best it's gonna get now

    • Wonder what they would give me for ps4 original..

  • +6

Haven't seen a bundle this crap since the Gamesmen decided to do a $1400+ Xbox shovelware special

    • Do you have a link to that bundle assuming it was posted here?

    • +2

Wait until they bundle the vr2.

  • +3

Another day another OzRRiPoff PS5 deal

    • -4

Amazing insight from someone who hasn't posted a deal in almost four years. 🤔

    • +2

Looks like you're already haptically triggered so you won't need this deal

  • +15

I hate bundles with digital copies.

    • +1

      Agreed give me the disc

    • +3

You could always get the new CoD MWII disc as a physical version

The one with only 70mb of data on disc

      • +2

If the disc has the key on it then it's fine, if the game is locked to your account then yeah no advantage over a full digital purchase.

        • +2

Yeah but a decade later when they change the store you won't be able to download the 200GB contents of that game. Despite having a legitimate copy/License as a Physical Disc.

          So it's just as bad.

          • @Kangal: I rarely play decade old games now HL2 being the exception but I imagine in a decade everything will be digital and we will have no choice.

          • @Kangal: You can still re-download any digital PS3 games on your PS3 which is 1.5 decades old.

            • @Agret: Didn't they try to close the PS Vita and PS3 Stores like last year? And there was a massive outcry. So they kicked stones and halted it for now.

Especially to locations like Brasil, the PS3 with its free online connectivity, is a massively popular solution.

But in the far distance for Video Game and Art preservation, it is extremely important to have all the contents ready and accessible on physical media. And just as important a way to back those up.

  • +2

    Isn't this deal full price?

  • +1

How hard is it for JB to say if this is the disc or digital version?

    • +1

It says on the product page:

      • Optical drive: Blu-ray reader
      • 4K Ultra HD disc compatible: Yes
    • +2

      All bundles are disc versions

      • My reasoning too, no way they would sell a bundle that was a PS5 game disc with a digital Ps5.

would be incredible levels of stupid.

        • +2

None of the bundles have come with game discs, all bundled titles are digital download codes.

    • +5

      console = disc version
      game = digital voucher

    • If you look at the picture on the box, it has a disc drive.

  • +1

The price is increasing? Every Aussie family has a PS5 nowadays!

    • +1

Based on how hard it has been to get before, i doubt that. At least the non bundle version.

    • I don’t !

    • I don’t !

    • +1

I'm waiting for price drop on them, want to get a disc based one. Launched at $750, since we are 2yrs into the system lifecycle it's normally when price cuts are made and then coming into the holiday period some good value bundle deals.

Should be looking at $699 pricing on the console by now (or $649 since they have the new model with cheaper production) with this God of War bundle around $750.

I don't understand that Sony have created a cheaper production model and raised the base price to $800 at the same time. This thing is 2yrs old..

      • +1

Maybe next year theyll drop to $750 lol.

  • +27

Full priced items are not a bargain, sorry. These posts were fine when there was a shortage of stock but there's stock almost everywhere now.

    • -1

Link to where there is stock?

    • +1

I think we will see retailers offer discount for PS5 bundles around Black Friday.

      • I don't they sell them instantly as is, they added $50 to the price and that didn't slow them down.

      • Even if they discount the PS5 by $50 it's not going to be a deal since that's what the price used to be…

    • -1

USA people still complain of stock strangely enough, but it's not a problem in Aus.

  • -5

Recent deal was for $650 for just the console, that one was also apparently the new updated version.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/734195

So is the game $250? What am I missing here? I thought games were like $100 for new releases and $50 for last years releases.

    • +6

      Digital vs Disc

    • +1

That was the digital console. This is the disc console.

If you're super keen to help line Gerry's pockets you can get this bundle there for $888.

      • +1

Nah not really in the market for a console. Just been clicking on these deals because they seem pretty popular here.

      • $888? He trying to sell to the Chinese market?

  • The real deal is eb games with giftz.com.au 11% off gift cards. Still in stock.

    • That is a nice discount on their gift cards but I feel that you could easily become a creditor to EB Games at any time.

  • What are the chances of this actually being fulfilled before xmas? I already have a PS5 and no kids (yay), but wondering if any parents here might have disappointed kids on xmas morning.

  • +2

It's available for preorder from harvey norman for $888

  • +1

buy from EB games and get 11% off with giftcards https://giftz.com.au/pages/discount-gift-cards

  • +5

    Where is the deal?

    • -2

The deal happens when the product is offered for purchase and someone else pays the asking price.

      Not hard to understand, really.

  • +4

Was a deal when you could scalp these but those days are long gone.

  • +2

Limited edition console would be worth it. Sadly not.

  • Another deal I'll upvote solely to spite the anti-RRP brigade

  • +2

    What…

  • +1

    NOT A BARGAIN!

  • +4

Full RRP pricing is not a deal. Just stop this shit already!

    • -1

It is, objectively, still a deal

Any agreement entered into by two or more parties for mutual benefit is - by definition - a deal. So, even paying a scalper $1200 for a $800 console is a deal if the buyer can ascribe a benefit from owning the console now rather than waiting. Whether it's a good deal or bad deal is somewhat subjective. But it's still a deal.

  • +3

    Waste of a post, tbh.

  • What are the chances the price of the console will go down within the year?

I had the EB Games "deal" on stock at 5AM yesterday and I was like let's just wait 12 hours to re-think if I actually want to buy it..

12 hours later all out of stock lol

    • +1

What are the chances the price of the console will go down within the year?

It's probably unlikely to go down on you. 😛

Consider cost of funding (interest rates) + global inflation + product demand + ongoing manufacturing/supply bottlenecks and I see little justification (or scope for that matter) for dropping the price in the next six months. I would be delighted, of course, to be proven wrong on this front.

      Source 1, Source 2. Source 3

      • Haha thank you for the info!

I had a feeling that would be the case! You've just cemented by decision now thank you :D

      • Source 3 says the supply shortage may end soon. Guess that means $700 or lower pricing next year??

        • None of the sources make reference to the trajectory for the AUD or USD. Your guess is as good as mine.

  • +1

    Tell em they're dreaming

  • Not a deal. Burn him!

  • +1

If you dont want the game check your local BigW. Website says 'online online' and no stock but by my local had plenty of stock today @ $799 instore.

    • Did you call them or in actual in store?

      • Was instore but no reason you couldn't just call.

    • Which store was that?

      • In Melbourne but it doesnt really matter. They have been advertising they are available instore on Facebook. The website has said not available the whole time though, just call your local and ask.

  • In stock at Amazon for the same price
